A WAPO-Based Shortcut To Understanding The Russia Hustle

The Washington Post has become the lead media in the ongoing Trump/Russia “scandal.” I put the word scandal in parentheses not because I disbelieve that dirty dealing between the Russian Gang and the Trump Gang has happened, but because I do believe in the old saying “What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.” If the entities that are trying to take Trump down were themselves not guilty of equal and greater crimes, I would be overjoyed to see him fall. But that is not the case, and this single fact turns the whole deal into just another in a long line of efforts by the Permanent Government/Deep State to maintain control of the U.S. on all levels by any means necessary.

It is a spat between and among competing criminal gangs, nothing more and nothing less.

The Smart Gang vs. the Dumb Gang, in a nutshell.

So…here’s the shortcut. The Washington Post has a paywall up. I refuse to pay in order to consume lies, so I won’t pay their pittance. WAPO is also invariably the lead media in Google News top-of-the-page reporting on this hustle.

If you click on most of the WAPO google links without a subscription, you get a cutesy little blurb about how you obviously love good reporting and thus should give them your money posthaste. But when WAPO is acting as lead paper in the quite clearly Intelligence Community-led fight against Trump, the paywall magically goes down. (You do know about the Bezos/WAPO/Amazon/CIA nexus, right? You should if you don’t. Do a search. A Google search, even. )

Shortcut to the hustle chase:

Get rid of your WAPO subscription if you have one. All of the anti-Trump hustle is more than thoroughly covered by the rest of the PermaGov-controlled media. Then click on WAPO headlines in Google News. If the paywall is down, the hustle has a new angle. If it’s up, it’s just the same previous news cycle’s PermaGov shit being re-shoveled.

Followed by a page of lockstep mumbling about how stupid and contradictory the Trump Gang’s positions are in terms of seeking immunity from prosecution.

Mainstream political posturing, nothing more. The PermaGov Gang has got its shit so together that it never needs to “seek immunity,” because it owns the investigative processes that would make that a necessity.

Duh!!!

If all news sources are unreliable and should be disbelieved, then what alternatives should be believed? Which, if any, do you believe? Serious question, AG.

  The answer to that question is a tall order. Heck, after 50 years, people are still trying to explain what Bob Dylan meant in “All Along the Watchtower”. In the mean time, I’ve just enjoyed the song; but I’d like to know one thing. Is tRump the Joker or the Thief? LOL

    I think I have your answer, then. It’s the functional equivalent of “I really don’t recall, Senator.”.
    
    As for the song, I prefer Dylan’s original.

      I couldn’t find a good recording of the song by Bob Dylan on youtube. Dylan singing it live after many years did not due the song justice. It appears that Sony & Bob Dylan are yanking them off the site. As Arthur Gilroy says, “follow the money.”

        Very hard to beat a cover as good or interesting as JHendrix’s Watchtower. 5/5 stars. A true 60s classic.
        
        Generally — with the exception of 7-8 notable great ones — I find the Dylan originals a little flat and thin, almost bare bones first attempts, just a sketched outline of a potentially good song. Of course, his not having a great voice (unique but not entirely easy on the ears) didn’t help to sell the simple original to many of us.

  When the mass media coalesce…suddenly and clamorously, as if one… around an idea of some sort? Like “Invade Iraq?” “Lee Harvey Oswald did it!!!” “The Russians fixed the (s)election!!!” Or when the media unite against…ohhhh, fill in the blanks. Howard Dean, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Ross Perot, Richard Nixon, Elizabeth Warren (She’s next to get the treatment. Bet on it. It has started already.)…you can bet your bottom dollar that one way or another those people seriously threaten the Permanent Government ‘s status quo…usually by threatening the outrageous profits of its owners.

  Health? Insurance? Give me a break!!! Have you tuned into a network news program recently? Big Pharma and Big Insurance run that game simply by buying up the prime advertising time.
  
  Who the “bad guys” are internationally? When they are all in agreement, there is something as fishy…and thousands of times more subtle…than the ham-handed “Pravda”- style media from Russia and other second world counties.
  
  Reviews of the arts?
  
  Almost worthless.
  
  Reviews of restaurants? The fix is so in on that angle…payoffs, etc…that it’s almost impossible to read them without laughing.

  Trump is running a low-profit competition, undercutting the Big Boys. The idea is to get the a large share of the market…vey much as did the Japanese when they first started selling “overbuilt” cars at cheap prices…and then when market share rises, gradually take more and more profit.

  The hard guys who run the PermaGov make auto execs look like the pampered, overpaid fools that they mostly are. They are hip the Trump, and…bet on this as well…one way or another they are going to take him down!!!

  On the latest Russophobe McCarthyite hysteria sweeping across our land, promoted daily, hourly by our lockstep corporate MSM, I can state almost w/o hesitation that I’ve found more truth in reporting from the state-sponsored RT network than in 98% of the alleged free and independent western press. That includes reporting on the situation in Syria and Ukraine.
  
  Exceptions here domestically would be rather few: Consortiumnews, Glennwald, The Nation, Marcy Wheeler, a few other truly independent lone voices.

Trump’s White House struggles to get out from under Russia controversy.

President Trump entered his 11th week in office Friday in crisis mode, his governing agenda at risk of being subsumed by escalating questions about the White House’s conduct in the Russia probe — which the president called a “witch hunt.”

Trump and his senior aides spent much of the day on the defensive, parrying the latest reports that senior administration officials had potentially acted improperly in the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Moscow’s meddling in the U.S. elections and possible links between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials.

Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, called it a “grave and momentous step” for a national security official to seek immunity.

Schiff said the investigation “grows in severity and magnitude by the day,” and he said the committee has “much work and many more witnesses and documents” to review before any witness can be considered for immunity.

For the White House, it was another chaotic day in which its attempt to regain control of the political conversation — this time through two executive orders on trade — was relegated to an afterthought in Washington.

Trump aides have expressed growing frustration at their inability to gain control of Washington’s narrative, just over two months into the president’s tenure. And amid mounting attention on Trump’s frequent weekend jaunts to his winter retreat in Palm Beach, Fla., and attendant golf-course outings, aides said the president would remain in Washington this weekend holding meetings at the White House.

In many ways, the first weeks of the Trump White House have resembled a chaotic tech start-up. Inside the West Wing, each new crisis and mishap, including the botched rollout of the president’s travel ban and the failure on the GOP health-care bill, has been viewed as a learning opportunity, to better understand what works and what doesn’t, as well as which staffers can perform under pressure — and, perhaps more importantly, which can’t.

By Thursday, senior aides were trying to beat back vaguely sourced reports on social media that Rick Dearborn, a deputy chief of staff who oversees legislative affairs, might also be on his way out. David Urban — who served as chief of staff to Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and helped run Trump’s campaign team in that state — was cited as a possible replacement. Urban’s name is often mentioned during times of turmoil, and he was previously floated as a possible replacement for Priebus.

Three White House officials insisted that Dearborn’s job was safe, and Cliff Sims, a Trump communications aide, lashed out at reporters on Twitter.

“Get a grip . . . And better `sources,’ ” Sims wrote.

But it was the Russia probe that continued to dominate the conversation in Washington, forcing the White House into a reactive posture for another day.

As the disclosures have mounted over communications between Trump campaign aides and Russian officials during the campaign and transition, the White House has sought to distance itself from the conduct of some members of the president’s campaign team.

But the revelations that three senior White House aides, including the top lawyer for the National Security Council, were involved in the handling of the files that were shared with Nunes has raised new questions about the conduct of the president’s staff.

“It’s shocking,” said Michael McFaul, U.S. ambassador to Russia in the Obama administration. “I used to work at the White House. I used to work at the NSC. . . . I never, ever briefed a U.S. congressman on anything in that capacity, and I’m not aware of anyone who did when I was there.”
