What if the Beatles had made another Abbey Road style album? After all they were already quite accustomed to recording separately, and producing surprisingly coherent statements during their last couple years together. They might have kept the name recognition and cashed in on that and otherwise, except for the very occasional one-off concert, lived in separate bubbles. This might have been one possible result:

I can’t help myself – I always loved this cover version of Tomorrow Never Knows. 801 was mainly a side project for several Roxy Music members when their band was on hiatus. Added bonus: it reunites them with Roxy alum Brian Eno. Anyhoo, this live album is one I still blast during commutes, and especially this song:
