Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Red Canyon painting. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I have continued to refine the painting. Starting at the top, I have overpainted the sky with another layer of blue paint. At the top of the butte (now overpainted in another layer), I have delineated some of the shadows/cracks seen in the photo. I’ve also added some of the highlights in an ochre shade. Finally, the trees now appear in blue in preparation for green highlights.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Open it is.
I have a video for that landscape.
Very cool.
Noticed the detail in the rock formation in particular is increasingly looking realistic (including the shadowing, based on how I am viewing the photo on which this is based). Keep on keepin’ on.
Unfortunately that’s a photo of a photo. The place is fantastic. Wish I could capture it.
