Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Cape May, New Jersey street scene. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
The holidays have limited my progress but there are some significant changes for this week’s cycle. Starting at the top, I have overpainted the sky so that it now appears solid. Ther roof of the central house has been repainted in gray. I have begun to paint the lit portions in a pale yellow rather than the white seen in the photo. It just works better. Finally, I’ve added some green at the base.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here. (Currently under construction.)
Open it is.
Looks like it’s coming along. This time of year often brings with it so much in the way of activity that a lot gets put on the back burner, including our hobbies. In my case it’s been health that has held me back, although I am finally back to my old self (or at least close enough). Was going to get a lot of Holiday Season lighting displays this December. Unfortunately that sort of got away from me. Will just plan on staying healthy next year, so that I can take advantage.
In any case, here’s hoping the new year brings you inspiration to continue painting. I am hoping to get back to the sort of landscape and cityscape photography I always enjoy.
Hoping for you to stay healthy in the new year, DD.
That’s the plan.
