New Life
Greetings photography enthusiasts. It’s Friday, and time for a new monthly foto flog. I hope you enjoy the flowers. I always admired olivia’s work. I certainly cannot duplicate her work, but it won’t stop my from offering up my own interpretations with whatever equipment I have at my disposal.
Please note that this is a reboot of a series that went to seed a few years ago. I know that there are some photo hobbyists like me who post here already. As always, I am hoping to incite a bit more “community behavior” in our community blog. AndiF and BobX used to curate the old foto flog. Others contributed quite regularly. Folks like Hurria, JimF, KNUCKLEHEAD, dada, olivia, ask, tampopo, Man Eegee, and a whole host of others posted photos at one time or another. I am sure I have missed someone in that list.
I don’t use anything especially fancy. Right now my Samsung Galaxy s6 keeps humming along, and it continues to serve me well for most general photography purposes. Unless that phone goes bad, I plan on keeping it for at least the next year or two. I may switch over to the Google Pixel, depending on how one of my younger relatives likes his. Or, I may hold out for the Samsung Galaxy s9, depending on the reviews. It’s supposed to have a fantastic camera, and Samsung is now very much a known quantity to me.
Some of our regulars have actual professional equipment, and before Photobucket turned into such a drag, we were graced by some absolutely stunning landscape shots, close-ups of flowers and insects, and some abstract photography. I’ve often marveled at the creativity of the folks who have meandered in and out of this community over the years. I use flickr to host my photos for the time being. I have tried out imgur as well. So far, so good.
Consider this series as a homage to its predecessor, and dedicated to the spirit of its ancestors. Enjoy.
Tips and recs are always appreciated. Even better, why not showcase some photos? I know that some of our resident photographers still at least lurk.
I have been lurking for a while, and just want to let you know that I appreciate what you bring here.
Many thanks for the good vibes. I appreciate it!
Here is a photo of four deer in my backyard. I took the picture using my smartphone from inside my home office. The closest animal was ten feet away.
On another note, I have a theme for tomorrow’s Midweek Cafe & Lounge, songs about Spring for the Vernal Equinox. I’ll post as long as you don’t object and want to post one yourself.
Oops. Wednesday’s Midweek Cafe & Lounge. My brain is foggy on a Monday morning.
Nice photo! Thanks for sharing.
And if you’ve got something ready to go for midweek cafe, by all means do so. Vernal equinox themed sounds nice. Hopefully I will get some breathing room right around mid-April or so. Should be able to do something with Japanese ambient music by then.
Took some time out to get an extended walk along the various riverfront pathways this afternoon. Have quite a few photos for something spring themed for April.
Tulips and hyacinths are about to bloom. We just recently replaced our old bulb plants in the flower bed, so these may well all be blooming a bit later than they would normally. Should have some nice photos to put up next month.
