Booman poster Donnah commented on Booman’s recent “It Doesn’t Matter Who Wrote the Op-Ed” post:
I was shocked to read the [Times Op-Ed] letter, published so soon on the heels of Woodward’s book.
Oh, Donnah…!!!
I’m shocked!!!
Shocked I say!!!
Your innocence is touching, as is the innocence of so many U.S. citizens.
Read on.
This is all part of a concerted, fairly well planned and media-promulgated effort that was launched as soon as the shock of Trump’s win wore off.
Bet on it…people sat down and plotted how to get the most anti-Trump bang for the buck, looking forward to the November 2018 elections and on into 2020. This eventually included the timing of Woodward’s book and the Times op-ed.
And…it was a “bipartisan” movement from the very beginning. As I have said here over and over again, neither the DemRats nor the mainstream RatPubs ever wanted to see Trump in office. Why should they? He’s after their power. Their swag, too. Both parties.
I don’t really know if Trump’s continued presidency is a testament to his innate talent at using low-IQ level media like Twitter, a testament to his handlers’ brilliance (whoever they may be) or simply further evidence of a bloated federal bureaucracy’s inability to get almost anything done.
Whatever it is that has kept him in the White House..probably some unholy combination of the three things that I mention above…the antes are continuing to rise with every passing day. That little phrase in the Times op-ed (emphasis mine) “…his presidency needs to end ‘one way or another…’ ” is in my opinion a final, chilling threat from some people who specialize in solving problems any which way they need to do so, and if Trump had enough self-understanding to realize this he would do well to resign as quickly and gracefully as it is in his power to do so.
But…on the ongoing evidence, he does not have that kind of understanding.
So here we jolly well are, aren’t we.
An isolated. half-mad emperor surrounded by people trying to stop him from upsetting the whole apple cart before they get a chance to use his own lick on him.
You’re fired!!!!!!
How far are we from an “Ides of March”-style solution?
The November elections will tell the tale.
Only a true November 2018 ass-kicking by the Dems will turn sufficient numbers of powerful RatPublicans against Trump to be able to impeach or 25th Amendment him, but so far it doesn’t look like that will happen. A change will go down, but not a sea-change. That would follow in 2020 if nothing else important occurs. And…the RatPubs wouldn’t like that to happen, because it quite possibly might mean the end of their party and thus the end of their share of the DC hustle.
Stay tuned.
Shakespeare is always right around the corner, laughing into his pint.
Oh what fools these mortals be!!!
Bet on that as well.

If you recall, I already suggested Caligula.
The Senators plotted to kill him, but that was mainly because he liked to publicly sexually abuse their wives (and them!).
Where is our Lee Harvey Oswald now that we need him?
(probably getting a CIA briefing)
Instead of engaging in assassination rhetorical cosplay, why not do the much more morally defensible thing and simply advocate on this blog for Democratic Party candidates and go out and organize votes for them so we can take back Congressional control of Congress in the midterms and prepare to take out Trump by legitimate means?
Who is “we”? Perhaps you belong to “we”, i.e. the 1%, but I belong to the lower 50% and the same scumwads that screwed us in 2016 are still running the Party and extending their hold.
. . . holding all the power and screwing us all with it constantly, right now, even as I write this . . .
. . . oops, can’t talk about them (their enablers — e.g., Stein voters — find this especially awkward! go figure!) . . . nothing to see here . . . move along!
Gotta stay focused on that evil bitch! Lock her up! Lock her up! . . .
And as one of the lower 50%, I’ll just say that I was happy to donate to HRC’s presidential campaign, put yard signs out for her campaign (& replace them as they tended to get stolen a bit), and made sure that all of our eligible voting family members got to the polls. This year, I am donating what I can contribute to local and statewide campaigns, will volunteer to the extent that is feasible, and will most likely take a leave day on 11/6 to drive people to their polling places, all in the name of turning my red state a bit more purple. There is much more than a dime’s worth of difference between the two parties, as I know you are aware (and as I know most who contribute and lurk here are aware). The last thing we can afford is indifference and learned helplessness – both of which I see regularly on this blog (as expressed by a subset of its contributors).
Tell us more about your desire to help Republicans retain control of Congress by effectively encouraging community members to deny their votes to Democratic Party candidates and issues.
Let’s also note that you refused to back away from your wish that the President be assassinated. I think your preferred solution to the Trump problem is highly inferior to the best solution: take Congressional control away from the Republican Caucuses in November and begin real investigations of the Trump Administration’s corruption.
Bullshit!!!
As usual.
My “desire” is to clean out both parties. They are both rotten to the core, as are the corporate/permawar system that finances them and the media that promulgate this set of fictions.
Will this happen?
Any time soon?
Not as long as people like you continue to defend their rotted-out, old-line parties.
Too stupid to see the light, or a conscious political hustler?
I don”t give a fuck.
Fuss on.
The system is already breaking down from its own dishonesty and resultant contradictions.
After it does?
Maybe things will change.
Let us pray…those that actually know how to do so.
The rest of y’all?
Down with the ship.
So it goes.
Bye-bye!!!

I wasn’t addressing you, AG.
It’s amusing that you had such a kneejerk reaction to my comment, though.
A person who comes to a “progressive community” which by Booman’s own declaration is meant to build the Democratic Party and advocates in the months, weeks and days before an election that progressives should refuse to vote for Democratic Party candidates and issues is a person who is acting out with the intent to support Trump and Republicans.
You never describe yourself going to virtual or literal conservative communities to tell them they should refuse to vote for Republican Party candidates and issues. In fact, your criticisms here of Trump and the GOP lack specificity on the rare occasions you level those criticisms at all.
It’s very simple. You’re a far right winger like your hero Ron Paul. You support far right candidates and issues. You play footsie with the Bernie Bros, but it’s a ruse meant to divide the community. A person who claims to admire both Sanders and Paul is a person with a fraudulent ideology.
Centrists aren’t “Progressive”. Centrists serve the 1% just like Republicans and are racist and sexist just like Republicans, only different races and sexes. I spit on both corrupt racist and sexist parties.
There are occasional candidates worth voting for. Voting foe someone because of their “team” is stupid.
No, Dkos is about building the Democratic Party. Booman Tribune has always welcomed individuals from all parties that held Progressive views. It’s a shame that it has become a second rate Daily Kos complete with hide rating and enforced conformity. Maybe Mr. Longman should shut it down.
I’ll cut you some slack because you are probably in mourning over Rahm Emanuel’s departure.
Fuck Rahm Emanuel.
It’s worth your time to refresh your memory on the FAQ section of this blog. A portion, written when the blog was first launched, reads as follows:
“This site is not affiliated with the Democratic Party. However, the Democratic Party is the only institution in this country that is capable of combatting the Bush administration’s agenda, or of offering a realistic alternative to the GOP’s control of both houses of Congress.
Therefore, this site is committed to building the Democratic Party, raising money for the Democratic Party and its candidates, finding and promoting promising candidates for state and local offices, helping to shape the Democratic Party’s agenda, and holding Democratic office holders to account for their votes and their ethics.
The site is also committed to doing some of the investigative work that is so desperately needed with the GOP in control of the oversight committees.”
It’s a simple and unavoidable fact that if you are organizing progressives to vote against Democratic Party candidates right now, you’re making it more likely that Trump and the GOP retain too much power. The closer we get to an election, the more self-evident this is.
. . . what “response” you’re likely to get to this thorough refutation of voice’s exactly wrong assertion?
I’d bet I would be able to!
It’s a recurring challenge for him.
“Sad!“
Oh.
My mistake.
I forgot that you only have one basic lick. You have run it so many times on me…probably hundreds of times…I forgot that you use it on everybody who doesn’t unquestioningly support your pro-DNC, neocentrist positions.
My humble apologies.
I underestimated your limitations.

The truth hurts your case here. You’re going to keep on being met by the simple observation that you are doing Trump’s bidding here, which is unsurprising given that Trump and your boy Ron Paul are extreme right-wingers.
The world is bipolar. Nor is politics.
Correction: The world isn’t bipolar.
This forum desperately needs a short term edit function like other sites.
. . . (What a concept!)
