Hello music lovers!
Ready for some tunes? I am. Let’s start off with something I first heard on the long-defunct LA area radio station MARS-FM (103.1). That’s right – that station was what turned me on to Aphex Twin. This was the first track of his I ever heard:
Time flies. The station lasted for a brief time, but brought back the spirit of KROQ from its heyday just long enough to feel just a bit more excited about life. You all know the drill: infinite jukebox, the bar’s open, and hopefully all is well.
Cheers!

For those curious, the headaches are getting better. Been through three different diagnoses and three different treatment plans. At the moment there is some hope that the third one is the charm. Otherwise, it’s off to the neurologist I go. We’ll see. In the meantime life goes on.
Ah yes. The best version!
Family Guy did a nice homage to Shatner’s interpretation a few years back:

I was originally planning on posting my drink selection for Tim Ryan, but he was the fourth candidate picked in FiveThirtyEight’s drop out draft. Since picks one, two, three, and five have already dropped out, I’m holding off on posting his drink until he drops out. To replace him, I’m taking a cue from Brendan Skwire, who is mocking Marianne Williamson in his most recent post. I’m going to join him in mockery with my drink suggestion for her. From my personal blog:
By the way, Williamson has suggested doing different yoga positions instead of playing a drinking game. Kombucha it is for her.
Kombucha and yoga. That is a combination. Not sure one I would endorse (and if I ever do, please rush me to the nearest neurologist!), but I will grant it is a combination. Yowza.
Now for a candidate who should drop out but won’t, as he’s rich, self-funding, and on a mission to tell off the progressives, I offer a drink for John Delaney. His favorite beverage is beer, preferably an IPA. His home state of Maryland has plenty of them.
Since today is National Coffee Ice Cream Day as well as the day that former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz finally announced that he was not running for President as an independent, I’m serving Tipsy Bartender’s Amaretto Espresso Ice Cream Float.

Speaking of Marianne Williamson and new age wackadoos, here’s some Steve Hillage (ex-Gong) who totally believes all the crystal new age silliness and writes songs about it:

Update – I’ve actually spent a couple days without any noticeable headaches. This might be the progress I was hoping for. If so, I now get to deal with the metaphorical “headache” of trying to catch up on facets of life that I have put on the back burner. Hopefully I can get a bit more active here again. Give me some time.
That said, Midweek Cafe will be up this Weds.
I’ve posted this vid before, so this is a bit of recycling (just trying to stay environmentally friendly). It’s a sort of contemporary take on progressive rock, complete with three movements and something other than the usual 4/4 time signature. One of my daughters looked at the vid and interprets the story arc to be one on the sensation of not quite fitting in or belonging. I think she may be on to something:
