Thanks to Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, District Attorney Eric Toney, who is running for attorney general as a Republican, five people were charged with election fraud. This literally doubles the number of Wisconinites who’ve been charged with voter fraud in the 2020 election. In these cases, the offense is using a post office box as a mailing address which is verboten under state law.

Now, it’s important to understand that this is a discretionary thing. A Wisconsin prosector from La Crosse County found some examples of post office box voter addresses and declined to prosecute after determining that there was no criminal or fraudulent intent. But Mr. Toney isn’t having any mercy. In fact, he’s a total hard ass.

One of the people charged was homeless but should have listed any kind of address, like the location of a park bench, rather than a post office box number, Toney said. A married couple who were charged were traveling around the state in an RV and could have listed the address of a campground where they stay, he said.

You might think this is just a cruel abuse of power or something, but Toney assures us that it’s justified t0 charge these folks with “a Class I felony, which is punishable by up to 3 ½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine.”

Toney, when explaining why he decided to bring charges, said ignorance of the law is no excuse.

“This is an important opportunity for education on this issue,” Toney said. He said he hoped filing charges would lead to fewer criminal referrals that take time and resources away from police and district attorneys who should instead be focused on fighting violent crime.

Any moran with a brain can see that Mr. Toney is trying to get cred with the Republican primary voters by demonstrating that he’s an ass-kicker on voter fraud. He thinks this will give him the edge he needs to win the primary for attorney general. So, he’s charging a homeless dude with a class A felony and saying he should have used a park bench as an address instead of a P.O. Box.

Get this, too, only two of the five people Toney charged even voted in the 2020 election.

I don’t know if Toney will get the electoral benefit he’s hoping for but if being the biggest asshole in Wisconsin is a credential, and twice-elected Senator Ron Johnson previously held that title, then he’s probably got a good strategy for sending a tingle of the deplorables’ legs.
