The inept attempt by President Bush to justify the pre-emptive war in Iraq depends on the misleading assertion that others, including foreign allies and Bill Clinton, believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Let’s ask the more correct question–how many other countries and individuals believed that a pre-emptive war was justified and required? Answer–not many!
Scott Ritter was pretty damn consistent on this point. Few wanted to hear him. The UN weapons inspectors made the point that continued inspections could contain Saddam and reduce the threat. Guess what? They were right.
And the Intelligence Community? Despite some wrong assessments that Saddam had some chemical and nuclear programs hidden from us, they never–I repeat NEVER–told the President or any policymaker that an invasion of Iraq was needed in order to defeat what we now know was a bogus threat.
Don’t let the Bush spin machine get away with this nonsense.

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald delayed a decision on whether to seek criminal charges against Karl Rove in large part because he wants to determine whether Lewis (Scooter) Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney, can provide information on Rove’s role in the CIA leak case, according to attorneys involved in the investigation.

that this could take a couple of years when our national security is at stake! By then, they’ll have finished invading Syria and Iran, and they’ll have quarantined the whole U.S. By then, the homeless population will have multiplied 10-fold, and there’ll be more and more deaths daily in Iraq.
Can we wait that long, or will someone get the cajones to impeach these traitors?

perky again. See here.
The implication is that he knows that he will not be charged. This is not encouraging news.
Congrats!! Sounds like your book will give us some ammunication against the lying liars.
Thanks for posting here!
My daughter got me the book. It’s quite good. There’s a pretty hot photo of Mata Hari in it though! 🙂

Mata Hari born as Margaretha Zelle (August 7, 1876)
Did they get Mata Hari wrong – Lover or Spy?
“To many she remains the unfortunate victim of a hysterical section of the French press and public determined to root out evidence of a non-existent enemy within, a scapegoat attractive as much for her curious profession as for her crimes.”

How about “Bush Lies Again” as a title?
The strong, resolute, straight-shooting leader gets a pass using the “well everybody else thought so too..” logic. The War President? Aren’t we forgetting that his supporter declared this preemptive war a “bold foreign policy” and “visionary leadership”?
Which is it, President Bush? Are you a bold leader, a visionary, a man of action, or do you just give in to what others tell you to do? Getting a little too hot around town to spend all that political capital?
THis is the best retort I’ve seen to the Clinton believed there were WMDs argument:
Let’s ask the more correct question–how many other countries and individuals believed that a pre-emptive war was justified and required? Answer–not many!
Peter Daou has been running a series of counter-arguments but I think Larry’s is the best, and the most clear.
It was a different frog pond. They want to leap, they want to jump, they want you to focus on anything except the drying up of the pond. UN Inspectors were on the ground with a suction hose and were hitting dry hole after dry hole. It does not matter that the entire Clinton Foreign Security apparatus predicted water in the basement, we had inspectors in and they were not finding any dry rot.
We red tagged Iraq and sent in the demolition crew even while we had inspectors on the ground finding no violations.
Boo. Made you jump. No, wait a minute, that was Bush. In the State of the Union Address.
