With all this heat, any month during winter is my favorite. Then again, what’s a 110 degrees between friends.
Warm days/cool nights, football, hunting, campfires, Halloween, Thanksgiving – its all good. I love em all, but fall has always been my favorite season.
Hi WW.
I do believe fall is a favorite of everyone. Down in the Southeast though, our winter is more like your fall. So I’ll take mid-winter here.
Hey FM. I understand, I spent 2 1/2 years in Birmingham, so I can relate. Too hot for me down there, but I have to admit playing disc golf in shorts and a T shirt in January was pretty cool.
I was just remembering the last Xmas that I was wearing shorts. Ironic when you walk into someone’s house and they have a flocked Xmas tree.
I miss cold weather and snow. One of these days I’ll get back up to it.
flocked?
They spray this white stuff all over the tree to make it look like it has been snowed on. Might be a Southern term, I’m not sure.
Huh. Ok, thanks. Hadn’t heard that one.
Yep you can buy your tree already like that, or they sell it in cans down here.
I remember years ago I went to New Orleans, and some guy had set up a freezer unit in front of his house, and made a snowman for his kids. There were cars lined up to see it.
They added colors this year. I’m still wondering who bought the purple Christmas tree.
I wonder what ornaments would go with purple. š
Pink ones, mostly. Some folks use white as well, or instead.
Colored flocking’s been around at least since the 60’s that I know of… and it can get outrageous. Saw one tree a couple years ago driving by a major lot.. done in red white and blue with a giant (think hubcap) star on top. All in all it was somewhat nauseating.
I remember when I was a kid long ago seeing flocking. Or you see windows where they put templates up against windows and spraying the flocking on it. You see snowmen and all sorts of winter scenes on the windows.
I don’t understand all these different trees. I’ll take the traditional fake aluminum tree any day. š
gotta be fall, before winter sets in hard…september thru november, october if l had to pick just one…but l rally like having four seasons, even if winter occasionally stays too long/
my front garden cranking up in october is a pleasure, and the cool/cold nights and sunny days are perfect…

looking forward to another one.

Whazup dada.
Yeah I miss fall up in the mountains. Hell I miss snow! š
October. Chilly mornings, warm days, cool nights. And the turning of the leaves. Could it get any better than that?
I’ll be so glad when October gets here. If for nothing else, I’ll know Dec/Jan are getting here. I hate summer!
This has been a rough summer for me. I had a burst of energy in spring, and started a vegetable garden. Then it got hot, and I left it all to die. I get worn out driving in the heat (with air conditioner). November can’t come soon enough.
I know what you mean. The only good thing I can see for our summer/drought is the grass doesn’t grow as fast.
When I lived in NH I bought a car without A/C. It’s the same one I took to TX with me. Big mistake.
I kept up with my garden until the deer ate the tomato plants down to stubs – all 36 of them! We’re in the middle of a subdivision, but we still get deer, raccoons, skunks, and other critters. This has been the worst year yet, probably because it’s been so dry that the animals are looking for moisture anywhere they can. But a summer without BLTs is going to be a dismal one! Weather-wise, I like October or the end of April, beginning of May when the flowers start coming up and before the mosquitoes make life miserable.
I forgot about mosquitoes. Another good reason for winter.
I kept up the garden till the deer ate some of my plants. Now they`re safe, & have huge buds.
Good afternoon!
It depends on location; back in Norway, it would be May – long winter over and the fields and forests exploding in green in the late spring, evenings getting noticeably lighter, summer just around the corner.
Here, I agree with everyone else above – fall is best, September or October – no more oppressive heat.
Hi ask.
Down here by April it’s already starting to get hot. I think one of the better locations I’ve lived in for weather was New Hampshire. Although now of days it appears to be as hot up there as it is here.
hmmmmm, I’m gonna say December – the weather is great here in the desert southwest, family gatherings abound, and plenty of built-in vacation days make for lots of slacking!

Hiya Manny.
You’ve got to teach me how to find that stuff for the newest members.
BTW Manny didn’t mention if you’re #5000, balloons and confetti will rain down from your ceiling over your computer.
[not really]
FM,
6 more eh,
I`m going to run out & find 6 people to sign up & we`ll share the balloons.
Fall can be nice but it leads into winter, which I despise. So I’ll say spring, which lasts about 2 days now, before the heat of summer starts.
I say the same thing about spring down here which leads to summer.
My favorite season here is “winter” which falls usually on the second Tuesday in February between midnight and 2 am.
Unfortunately I missed it entirely last year; I was taking a shower.
Hah! Been there done that. š
Don’t you snowboard?
Good memory! I’ve been learning snowboarding for the past 3 winters or so but winter driving makes me crazy.
Boran2,
Do it in the summer .
It`s called water boarding. That`s what I heard, anyway, but they keep denying it.
Hmmm…now that I live in the land of perpetual sunshine, aka California, I have come to really like May or June. The rains have let up and the flora is blooming like mad. Right now, however, it is cold and cloudy and generally pretty sucky. I miss the changing colors of the falls, but October is still quite pleasant.
BTW, I just have to get it out of my system. I fucking hate working for lawyers. They suck.
I used to live in Northern CA. and I can’t remember the weather as being that bad. I pretty much enjoyed it when I lived out there.
Never worked for a lawyer, but I do know a few engineers like that.
I have to admit that I harbor a towering prejudice toward mechanical engineers. I think someone should do a failure analysis of them ’cause something just ain’t right.
Civil, chemical and electrical engineers are the ones I know best. Knew some really good ones, but also knew some really bad ones.
I deny the existence of any okay mechanical engineers — this is my very own irrational prejudice and I’m not going to be reasonable about it.
What the matter? Did you tonka toys come crashing down. š
10 years working at Cummins Engine.
I’m sure that could do it.
Just to clarify, I work in a Patent Law firm, so one of my bosses is a mechanical engineer and a lawyer. Actually, he is the nicer one. But, that also means that many of our clients are bloody engineers. Trying to deal with them is a royal pain in the ass. It doesn’t matter how many patents they have filed for, each time they are completely clueless as to the process. Bloody drives me nuts.
The sun came out finally, and it’s now about 80 degrees. It’s a heat wave! ;>)
Yep, they can’t deal with anything that isn’t a fully described, rigid process that they were taught in school. And never, ever ask them to understand an analogy.
Hay, I don’t suck. At least not most of the time.
I’m sure working for you and all outlooks would be different. š
LOL, would your secretary say that? Or, are you just on a roll with sexual innuendo today. ;>)
Who still has secretaries? We just lost most of our engineering assistants. Work has been so efficient lately.
Mid-April or mid-October. I can’t pick. I love the beginning of the growing season and the winding down of it equally.
But as much as I hate summer, I sure do love the vacations we take during it. For anyone who is interested, here’s some of our pics from our trip hiking in the Idaho mountains.
Hiya Andi.
I’m still waiting on our 30 minute season change.
Great pictures!
Why do I never remember about these wednesday shindigs until all the good food is gone?
It’s 101 at the moment and my house AC is having a hard time keeping the house below 80. Ick.
Plenty of food and drink left.
Keeping it below 80? You’re in a winter wonderland.
I’ve been going around flocking everything in the house…the windows, the furniture, the dog, the chicken in the oven. Makes it look much more festive and winterlike.
If you can’t have the real thing…… š
Oh, now you’re just teasing me about the real thing, aren’t you?
Would I do that? ;P
SN, What do you call your place now, the White House?
We are trailing you out by 2 degrees outside and 3 degrees inside.
I hate summer (I’m thinking maybe I should make this my sig line).
I just clicked on our local weather and it’s 100 with 108 heat index. Can it get any better!
Winter – with lots of snow – blue sky reflecting off snow – glitter and sparkle – shades of gray and blue and white – green of pine and mountain laurel – pale yellows and tans of dried grasses – shades of black, brown, and gray in tree bark and rocks – reds and purples of stems and branches…
…now a winter without snow – that’s depressing š
That’s the biggest thing I miss during winter is the snow.
I do miss snow, but I don’t miss that horrid gray slush the day after.
The last snow I saw here was around 2000 and it didn’t last long then. Now when I lived in NH and Germany we had some really good snows. Although I probably could do it anymore, I miss skiing too.
Skiing? I could just imagine you in a bunny suit, FM. Do you have any pictures?
I think I do somewhere. I’ll see if I can find any.
Cool. Maybe we should have one of those cafe’s with winter pictures around a blazing fire. Might cool everyone off. I’ts too damn hot. I hate it. Ick.
Are you and FMom cooling off with fudgesicles?
Nope I’ve pretty much gotten the fudgesicle craze over.
Here a picture of me skiing. I’m the one on the right.
Good lord, FM….give us something here! Can’t you thumbnail the thing? š
I found one picture that had a bunch of pictures scanned on it. That’s the largest one I could get. I’ll have to dig through some DVDs to find some.
At least it looks nice and chilly. Ahh…
How does FMom do in the heat? I know many elderly people don’t do too well.
She doesn’t get out into the heat. The closest she gets to being in the heat is going from the house to the car. If she had to be in the heat, I don’t think she could take it for long. Not like me, I can stay out a whole ten minutes. š
FM, Here`s me skiing.

The large snow blob fell just as the shot was taken.
is that you? š
Michael Bolton?
Now that`s mean.
Michael Bolton, hah
Snow in fields and woods has a whole different feel than in a city or trafficked areas for sure!
Some winters there has been very little snow. The past few years there has been more snow in Feb. into March. The winters with nothing but rain, I feel “snow deprivation,” compensated with daydreams of moving further north and pictures of snowy places. š
