Bueller?
although I did a bad thing last night and had a shot of Jager with the several beers I imbibed. This morning was not a fun experience.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the words ‘jager’ and ‘morning’ in such close proximity to each other.
word ‘work’ into the mix and you have an unholy trifecta.
In my experience, work never ‘adds’. It merely subtracts.
I don’t know if that was bad but it was certainly dumb.
forgot the most important descriptor: fun!
then you have to add consequences!
whoa, you’ve GOT liquor.
And since Olivia and Cali went to bed, it looks like I’ve got all the boys to myself tonight.
Yes, the world is back in its orbit.
Yes, I do have liquor. Can I get you a drink?
yes, and I’ll let you choose tonight.
This is one of the best shots you’ll ever have. Seriously.
First, you take a lemon slice that has some sugar on it, and put it in your mouth. Suck the lemon juice out, but keep it in your mouth.
Then, take the shot of Frangelico. When it combines with the lemon-sugar mixture in your mouth, it tastes just like German Chocolate cake.
seriously … (who do you think you are? Armando?)
Okay. I guess I’ll trust you.
If I thought I was Armando I’d reply to you with a one sentence post.
that line up ought to get us off to a good start.
And then a little tich of dada’s “sage”…
what have you been doing today?
recovering from an “almost” cold (took echenasia and astralagus, which seems to be workding) went to dentist for cleaning, thence to the main downtown PO for overnight mailing of CC bill that slipped past our deadline for mailing,
but I did make dinner… ah that is I went and bought cooked chicken, and deviled egg potato salad, and a spring salad (slices of vegies and elbow macaronis) so we have fuel for tomorrow.
deviled egg potato salad sounds good.
No pictures of rosy fingered dawn today?
the other night…
y knot…
Is that an abalone shell? Haven’t seen one in quite a while.
Heyas all you late night freaks! I don’t see any Woodford Reserve up there… Mary, would you mind sharing from your bottle, ô belle voluptueuse du Missouri?
You realize I don’t actually speak French, but I’m guessing that’s a compliment so yes I’ll share 🙂
Indeed it was. I couldn’t be anything but positively genteel to MaryB. We middle coasters have got to stick together ya know…
middle coasters del norte?
Actually, I always think of you as one of us, NDD… but if you insist on splitting hairs, instead of logs, then we could just say upper plains middle coasters, though that is certainly a mouthful (and long to type too)!
It could be worse. When I was in college (one of those places back east) it wasn’t at all uncommon to hear people say that they assumed Idaho was in the Midwest because it starts with “I.”
Of course, now I live in a place where they consider Salt Lake City “back east.” Go figure.
The people in the east I’ve met don’t really have a clue how big this country really is.
I went to the stadium again — Left field may be finished by the time you see it. Barely.
So true. Some of the people I went to college with may never have been west of the Hudson, unless it was for a lightning raid on the Paramus Mall.
damn east coast elites 😉
In other hands, the compliment might not have been so genteel. But from you, IVG, it’s just right.
I’m glad you interpreted that in the spirit it was meant. For some reason, oddly semi-poetic French babble is bubbling up from my psyche tonight, and I love teasing Mary … gently of course!
Sounds like you’ve got a busy b-ball season going with the young GRaters! Glad to hear you’re enjoying that!
I have to get some sleep tonight. I expect there to be some empty bottles when I check this place out in the morning!
and be careful what you wish for! I’m in one of them drinkin moods tonight!
Take care, and sleep well.
rubs it in. How goes it IVG…big gardening day tomorrow, or advanced classes in slacking?
Well you have been all macho and clearin brush all week and making me jealous, and you call that rubbing it in? LOL Actually a bit of all three, and hopefully a movie too, and late night here. A big day. We went plant shopping after we got off work tonight and managed to spend $114 in about half an hour, getting the usual annuals, some veggies and a lot of unusual perennials you don’t normally see around the garden centres. Wish I hadn’t missed Olivia, cuz she’ll be shocked to find out we actually found some Trilliums for $2.99 and snapped those puppies right up! And Alpine Blue columbines as well… yipppeeee!
Yeah, just a normal boring day of digging weeds and that rogue perennial we’re trying to eradicate. Should be lots of fun!
than brush clearin’…:{)
There’s actually something peaceful about being physically tired as opposed to mentally. Plus, it’s very therapeutic (mindless) and you get instant verification that you’re accomplishing something…just need to start earlier next year.
I can’t believe we’re actually almost ahead of the curve this year, considering we started garden clean up a month ago and are pretty much done except for certain areas of the yard and veggie garden space. This is crunch month though … with all the new plants to go in, and I vow to have my tomatoes in the ground by 5/15 this year… my usual drop dead date for them is Decoration Day, and I want them in before that.
sleep? slacker.
‘night ej
the sun came up.

I love rosy fingered dawn — in pictures. In real life I want her to stop trying to wake me up.
when I was a youngster one of the older neighbor kids was talking about the “crack of dawn”. I asked if it was very loud. “Oh, yeah, big noise.” So next morning I got up in plenty of time, and never heard nothin’. One of my first experience listening to my “elders” ha!
Kids are so literal.
I’m helping a friend throw a party Saturday night. Other than that, I don’t have any big plans.
You?
Wasn’t there some stupid childhood joke about “She bent over and I saw the crack of Dawn?” Your reminiscence there just dredged that out of my mental muck.
Btw, great sunrise there… and I’m sooo loving Firefox’s feature of right click, view image that lets me see the whole thing without having to go to the source site.
Gorbless Omir and Cali for gettin me off my butt on that one.
And speaking of echinacea, NDD.. need any plants to set out up there? We got tons of em to give away again this year! I’ll be digging up a bunch tomorrow… so just stop on by.
today, but it was only the Schwann ice cream truck. Products are OK, but ice cream in this house lasts for weeks. And then it’s a new driver every time. Always bugs me when I’m in a territory used for “practice” of whatever anybody is selling.
My dad used to buy from them when I was a kid, but I thought they had gone out of business, as I’ve seen no reference to them for years. Those yokels in Yankton are partially responsible for my gardening addiction ya know. Every year when I was little, my dad would get me one of those 1c “Kids’ Pack” of seeds… ever get one of those?
yep!
here
and nope, never had a one cent seed pack. Had a garden when we were kids though. My bros have “fond” memories of pulling weeds and swinging at mosquitoes (the MN state bird)
they usually contained some corn, bean and veggie seeds mixed with a few easy to grow annuals like zinnias and 4 o’clocks… I used to be so proud that I could stick em in the ground and watch things grow and even bloom! Made for quite the unusual little patch my dada made for me to plant them in.
that’s a great memory ya got there. Looks like the inspiration carries on to this day.
as the one ya put up the other day. That from ‘home’ or ‘farm’?
yeah, almost the same pic, just had the sun in a different position. And taken from the farmstead location, otherwise soon to be known as the BT B&B.
what will you serve us for breakfast?
oh I wish I could give you a ’10’ for that!
Probably lutefisk omelets and potato pancakes.
a combo of chittlins stuffed with lutefisk?
you guys are gonna be the B&B versions of The Maytag Repairman
did you see my Ole and Lina joke here in the FBC one night months ago that included the maytag repairman?
Probably can’t find it tonight, but maybe sometime.
because just reading that made my stomach do a huge flip flop worthy of the Shrub himself!
And speaking of flip flops, did anyone else see/read about Queen Laura’s “It’s ok to sing the national anthem in Spanish,” and then reverse herself and say “but it should be sung in English” less than 30 seconds later? Why on earth those ignunt asses think she is so great is beyond my powers of comprehension. She’s right out of Stepford, I tell ya.
married to that piece of shit, loser. And to top it,she’s spooky looking as hell with that ‘pulled back’ face-lift visage…<gaaaag>
but this one is worth it, just for evil mockery’s sake!
good thing I don’t ever remember dreams…that image could cause trouble…
a Bot Fly up her butt…
but I held off. So now you’ve uncorked the evil genie, NDD. Actually I was gonna make a snide remark about us BTribbers needing to beware of toothpaste in aqua sinks at your future B&B… but I hope by the time you have the place finished, you will have updated the bathrooms, right?
dem dere sinks is in for the duration.
Wait till ya see the orange countertops, some orange in the linoleum and the coffee colored appliances, ha!
After lots of bellyaching about the 1000s of Asian Lady bugs that survived the winter up there, Ms NDD explained to me they were just tryin’ to home in on the “MotherShip” Ha! Guess that explains that phenomenon.
yoost be happy I’ve replaced the card board door to the bathroom with a real wood door. That card board one seemed to disconcert folks for some reason.
LOL… you betcha. Know what you mean about those Asian ladybugs… they’re nasty. I used to mistake them for the nice ones, until they started biting, then I hated them. They’re tough critters.
Glad you replaced the cardboard door… that could get rather nasty with all the showers and such… but then you could take fascinating macro shots of the mold and wow us all here late at night… hehe.
choice of teas, gourmet coffee, even got an espresso machine up there.
And if ya behave yourselves during the day we’ll have homemade icecream after supper (and mind you it is supper, no such thing as dinner in the evening out in the hinterlands.)
French toast with real maple syrup is my favorite 🙂
Bloody Mary’s?
or Mimosa’s?
Our house, any Saturday morning. It’s kinda got to where the Kid GRs sort of expect it. And homemade waffles on Sundays. Sometimes they separate the eggs for me.
oh, I have to go to sleep so I can stay awake tomorrow.
night everybody!
good thing ya stayed up long enough for breakfast.
Night Olivia, Night MaryB, night <insert name variable here> …
Hope you have a quick slide through Friday Mary, and have enough stamina to come back here and spar with us old farts later… hehe… I can say that now that O has gone to bed.
will get Mythmother to de-lurk?
I fell asleep a while ago. Good news and bad news. Good news, the TV is no longer blaring. Bad news, my mouth hurts again. Mneh, I’ll go back to sleep and it’ll feel better later.
Olivia, Mary, I have an opening stanza for the poem. I’ll post it for all to see once it’s done.
Nah, same dental work. It’s just being slow to heal. Or maybe this is the proper amount of time. I don’t know. I haven’t had a tooth extracted in over 25 years before this and God in His mercy has allowed me to forget what all that was like. Mostly I just remember laying on the couch popping painkillers and watching a show about the Canadian Air Corps (or something like that) during World War One.
I’d go back and have’m check for dry socket, not kidding.
I’m going back on Wednesday to have him look it over. Thanks for the heads up.
the young ladies aforementioned have turn in.
You’d think that pain’d be a dying down one of these days. ya sure ya ain’t got one of them thar “dry sockets”, had one of them once, fergittin’ now what ya had done, so my comments are likely irrelevant.
The doctor did something called a “bone graft” where he filled the socket with “bone powder” in anticipation of an implant, probably next year.
Part of the problem is that I’ve had a very difficult time keeping food out of it. One good consequence of that is that I’ve cut down on between-meal snacks. I’ll go to the vending machine at work, look at the offerings, ask myself if I want to deal with digging that out, say “Naaaaah” and go back to work.
but the “dry socket” was defined for me as the “wound” not scabbing over properly, so proper healing was not occurring. So there could still be a problem with it not healing the way it should. Just seems like it should have subsided by now.
Sorry to hear that, Omir! About the mouth, not the poem, which of course I certainly look forward to seeing! Maybe you should call Limbaugh and ask him if he has any spare pills laying around you could take…
I have some Oxycodone the dentist game me, which I believe is a generic Percoset. I’m reluctant to use it, though. I know that if I’m careful I won’t become addicted, but I don’t want to take chances.
code ine in it. Made me feel like I had the flu, no puking, just felt shitty. I decided I “preferred” the pain rather than the “flu”
Yes, that is generic Percoset. And it’s not that addictive if you use it judiciously short term, so I wouldn’t be so afraid Omir. When you said that last week I was misreading and thought you said Oxycontin which IS horribly addictive. Just ask Limburgerbag, hehe.
But then, when I was in grad school and had agonizing pain from 3 infected wisdom teeth before I could get them out, I just swilled scotch all day and smoked pot. That kept me blissed out on the couch and relatively oblivious to the pain, lol. Not prescribing here, no, not at all. Just a personal anecdote from my past.
p.s. I loooove Firefox!
of using IE, that is. I finally uninstalled IE7 on my work box and went back to IE6. I couldn’t read any of the diaries here. It’s a beta, so no big deal.
Actually the main reason I haven’t used the Oxycodone much is that it’s supposed to make you drowsy. I have enough trouble with that at work, and I’ve been getting by with ibuprofen. Tomorrow though, when I don’t have to worry about getting up and slogging my way through the work day, it might be time.
I can’t thank you enough for gettin me offa my butt on Firefox, Omir. And it runs so much faster and has nice functionality I could not get w/IE… anyway… I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Nothing worse than feeling crappy and still having to work. I did that several times this winter when I was too busy to stay home when I had bad colds… and of course they (ma)lingered around for way too long!
Well, I gotta head out now, but take care of yourself my friend! See you soon, and in less pain I hope…
the Bu just went out and did her bedtime rounds in the ‘mizzle‘ – I think they call it in the PacNorWet – and convinced me that it’s time to call it.
Night all, be well.
Later
Peace
Take it easy dadadude… I’m sure I’ll catch you on some flipside in some parallel universe near you/me/NDD sometime soon! Give Lady Bu a big hug for me!
If you get bored, you can come over tomorrow and help dig weeds, just in case you need to do some more macho work. Hehe.
hand it oop 2.
Have a good rest IVG, and any other latent lurkers…
Seeya soon Sven… tell Arnie hi for me. And you sleep well too… I think I’m outta here too. Got a big day of laundry and garden work planned! Will keep youse guys posted on the progress…
Night Dada
My mouth and me are going to bed. I have five stanzas of doggerel written; I’ll either revise and post it tomorrow, or use it to fertilize the lawn. Maybe both.
