I just looked at our forecast and I’m going back to bed … for the next four days. Starting tomorrow and through Saturday we’re supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow with winds of 35 mph. and lows in the teens. And then Monday I have to go to Massachusetts and I’m wondering if it’s going to follow me there.

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 6, 2008 at 7:09 am

Look on the bright side: it’s a temporary reprieve from the mud. :::ducks and runs away:::

Hopefully it will blow through quickly and be finished in MA before you get there?  Of course, knowing how things usually work out for me, that would mean I was there for the big digging out.

        • AndiF
AndiF on March 6, 2008 at 7:19 am

especially since it will end up just making more mud.

Well I just looked at the forecast for where I’m going and it doesn’t look like the snow will head that way. But I see that Detroit (more snow days for Toni!?!) is going to get it so it must be on a severe northeast path, which does happen a lot with arctic air.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 6, 2008 at 7:37 am

Ugh, arctic air.  I guess that means we’re getting an icy blast this weekend, along with the muck for you?

I’m ready for some spring weather, what with these longer days and all.

Mud is not my friend. Mud on the paws, mud on the nose (cause mud is so cool to dig in) mud on the walls, mud on the car well all over the car, mud on the bedspread from an over exuberant happy newfie at 4 this morning who had to share. Firehose time.

AndiF on March 7, 2008 at 4:45 am

Believe me, I’m completely empathetic. Though I do get to avoid the firehose as the neighboring camp has a big lake.

Don’t feel too bad – our weather will be sunny and in the 60s with a slight breeze, soft as a nun’s fart.  I’ll have to wear socks with my crocs when I rake out the garden beds.

Heh.  My daffodils are poking up too, you know.  They seem to be immune to the chill in the air…

Speaking of socks and crocs, I have a new pair almost finished for myself…I cast them on last week to show my mom how to knit them from the toe up, and just kept going through all the debate and primary election coverage.  Probably the only benefit to this extended primary season is the extra knitting time.  🙂

Probably not. They should have everything nice and cleared off by Monday. But the good news is this is a trip to the “main office” which means not too much BCROD time and lots of good schmooze time.

And speaking of work, gotta go do some.

Have a nice, balmy day. 🙂

AndiF on March 7, 2008 at 6:27 am

A houseful of adolescent boys?!? Run away, run away!*

Plans for weekend: feeling sorry for myself because it’s cold and snowy and because I have to travel again on Monday.

        * you have to imagine it said in the Monty Python and the Holy Grail tone of voice.

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 7, 2008 at 6:37 am

Funny, that’s exactly how I was imagining it.  🙂

Did you already get the snow, or is it coming your way?  We have flooding rains on the menu for today.

At least you’re going to the main office, which is a little more fun than clients, right?  And don’t they have some good restaurants there?

Will you be there all week?

          • AndiF
AndiF on March 7, 2008 at 6:53 am

We’ve got flooding here now (well, not right here). The snow is supposed to start this afternoon and go on through Saturday with high winds.

Actually, I do enjoy going to the main office. There are a lot of people there I really like and the stress level is usually almost non-existent. And yes, there are some really good restaurants, including what I think is one of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. I just don’t want to travel.

I’ll only be there through Wednesday.

Andi, your photos of the woods in all seasons are wonderful.  I always enjoy seeing them but keep forgetting to tell you so.

Looks like the storm is going to go south of us.  The winter storm warning has been cancelled and now they’re talking only a couple inches over the weekend.

      • AndiF
AndiF on March 7, 2008 at 8:02 am

Thank you. It’s very nice of you to say that and it’s also very nice to know that people enjoy the pictures. I certainly enjoy being out in the woods to take them. 🙂

The snow just started here. They cut the amounts from 5″-9″ to 2″-6″ so that’s good. But the high winds are what are going to make it interesting.

Good morning, you two.  So sorry to hear about the unfortunate weather up your way.

      • Second Nature

Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are “The Triangle” so everything is sort of regional-minded.  We live about 25 miles from the school.  C hangs out there a bunch though, with his much smarter friends who got in 🙂 It’s just such a damn waste of a life.  The older I get the more it grieves me.

Hi refinish!  We don’t have any snow in PA, either.

    Good morning all!
Hope most of us have a better start of the week than Andi who at the moment is on her way to more BCROD.
Still just starting to dawn at 7 – that’s the DST drawback in March.

I think my start might be equivalent – I overslept and CBtY missed the bus.

The spring time change is brutal for me.

That’s a bummer, maybe the new teenager should just play hookey today.

That seems to be our plan so far.  He had a sick stomach last night anyway.

            Too much cake?

Actually, he got sick before the cake was served, and only had a courtesy bite to taste it…I’m defending the rest of the cake from poachers for him today.  😉

What are you up to this week?

            Hope he recovers quickly.
The next couple of days are a bit stressful, I have some deadlines getting uncomfortably close.

You’re not back at the office, are you?  Did I miss that?

I hear you on the uncomfortably close deadlines.  I’m heading out to the library shortly to work in some peace and quiet to meet mine.

The library will be a nice contrast to 5 teenagers roaming the cabin.
            Check e-mail.

Happy belated birthday to him.  It’s so cold that you could probably hide the cake somewhere outside.  😉

I think it would freeze.  🙂

I’ll pass the birthday wishes along.  He’s up now, but with a fever. Ugh.
