Many liberal bloggers are constrained by economic considerations from putting the full force of their intellectual and persuasive energies to bear upon the neo-conservative “takeover” of this country that the Bush “adminstration” represents. But some are activating, in a societal AND economic sense. The first of these is, I believe, BradBlog, whose first annual Blogathon is attempting to emphasize the need for public economic support for truth in reporting.
Brad Friedman, the gifted “owner” of this site, hosts a radio call-in every Saturday night called the BradShow (a joke title, by the way), sponsored by RawStory, which features interviews with such figures as Bob Fitrakis, David Cobb, Josh Mitteldorf, Clint Curtis, Sherole Eaton, Bob Keohler and many, many more; and is footing his own bill by hook or by crook. And so are many others.
It’s time to support our progressive freedom-fighters! Give as much as you can, as frequently as you can! Bandwidth and broadcasts cost money!!!
Donate to Booman while you’re about it! This is a great site…and I’m so grateful to its hosts.
You are so right Peg. I believe the popularity of Brads site is direct evidence of the willingness and need that people have in these dark days, to somehow get involved. The Blogathon was important because it brought together many different types of activists, candidates, press, and everyday people who’ve had about enough of whats happening to the country and made them available to exchange thoughts and ideas with all of us. That is a huge need. Street level activism on the internet will continue to draw people in to see where they can contribute and find people of like mind.
Great diary Peg C. Full disclosure: Peg C is one of my compatriots from Bradblog. One of the original “6 or 7” Bradbloggers :O)
Btw Peg, be sure to stop into the Froggy Bottom Cafe, and/or the Froggy Bottom Lounge when you get a chance so you can introduce yourself and allow all the fine people here to give you a proper welcome. I would link to it but unfortunately there isn’t one going right now.
Peace
Oops, I missed this Cafe
