Late Nite OPEN THREAD

When in Rome, don’t keep your goldfish in those cramped little bowls and make sure you walk your dog…or you might go to jail.

What’s happening in your part of the world?

Speculation Thread

Since we are all jumpy with P.I.S.S. (pre-indictment stress-syndrome), I thought we might want to fantasize and speculate a little. Some people are calling this Fritzmas Eve. What do you want under the tree tomorrow?

And what the hell do you think will happen if Cheney has to resign?

The Conspiracy the MSM Won’t Touch

CNN’s Bill Schneider posted the following article on September 12, 2002.

There’s a big question hanging over President Bush’s Iraq policy: Why now? Why, more than 11 years after the Gulf War, is it suddenly so urgent for the U.S. to go after Saddam Hussein now?…

Why did the Administration wait until September to make its case against Iraq? White House chief of staff Andrew Card told The New York Times last week, “From a marketing point of view, you don’t introduce new products in August.”

In his speech to the United Nations, President Bush tried to shut down the political speculation. This is a life-and-death matter, the President insisted. “Should Iraq acquire fissile material, it would be able to build a nuclear weapon within a year,” he told the U.N. General Assembly in New York Thursday.

To those who say, we want more evidence that there’s a real threat, the Administration says, we can’t wait for a smoking gun to turn up. “We don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud,” National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice said on CNN’s Late Edition recently.

So, we see the White House used their August Crawford vacation more productively in 2002 than they did in 2001 (when they ignored warning signs about a 9/11 type plot).

In August 2002, the administration decided to roll out a ‘new product’. The product was a war in Iraq. The sales pitch was the spector of a mushroom cloud going off in an American city. Seen in this light, it makes the following very interesting:

What to do with the Delay Money

I am the Democrat running against Mike Pence in Indiana’s 6th District.  My website is www.barrywelsh.org   Here is my latest Letter to the Editor to district news and media outlets.

Notable Editors and News Directors;

There is an investigation into the stock dealings of Senator Bill Frist.
There are inquiries regarding the National Security leak exposing a CIA
agent, that appear to reach the top levels of President Bush’s
Administration. There are the charges of cronyism and unqualified people in
positions of National importance. And, there is Representative Tom Delay,
under two indictments for money laundering and federal finance violations.

Congressman Mike Pence has taken money ($19,865.00)from Representative Delay
‘s organization, ARMPAC Americans for A Republican Majority, which after
investigation is currently under Grand Jury indictment. There are some that
might feel that Congressman Pence will be `guilty by association’, from this
potential criminal situation, and I hope that Congressman Pence will do the!
right thing and distance himself.

Many have called for him to give the money back. I am publicly asking
Congressman Pence to distance himself from the nineteen plus thousand
dollars he has taken from Rep. Delay’s Organization, by donating One
Thousand Dollars to each of the Family and Children’s Services Bureau’s in
the nineteen counties of the 6th Congressional district, for Foster
Children.

The money should not go back to Tom Delay, and Congressman Pence should
remove himself from even a hint of impropriety. Honorable Congressman, I
hope that you agree.

Barry Welsh

6th District Democratic Candidate for Congress

get it together.

there was something about some dems meeting and deciding on a new slogan. there was something about the dnc and the ndn giving money for nothing. something about orange. something war and numbery. Something z-mas, froggy, and edgy.

there is something else: our world is broken.

let’s put it back together.

we can fix it. we actually need leaders to help us do it. we actually have a system to choose leaders.

get it together.

whether the criminals are deposed for their crimes or they aren’t, we still have the naked cold hard seriousness of what the usa has done these last years. the system is ours for the fixing. that’s what the constitution actually says.

its bad out there. its falling apart at home. we can do better. a lot fucking better. but everybody who understands the program will need to settle down and to remember to breathe.

we have differences. differences work. and enemies exploit differences. there is no code. either you are helping get it together or not. everybody who wants to get out from under might try and look at the complex things they are doing through this simple filter.

if you get it: get it together.

let’s see how that works out.
