I hope the absence of keres and Luna and the baby ducks means that their life has just gotten too full lately to have time to blog.
In their stead, my pack would like to invite everyone who has some pent up picture posting of dogs and any other critters to vent away.

In fact, they’re so open-minded, they’ll even welcome cats.
Wild beasts welcome, too.

A Nene, the Hawaiian State Bird
Taking a mid-afternoon break to appreciate all the critters. Thanks for doing this Andi (and Sniff).
…on vacation in Kauai and enjoying the wildlife. I’ve been particularly fascinated by the flight patterns of the albatrosses, skimming the breaking waves like cropdusters.
I came across this gem from the ultimate beach book, “Know-It-All,” the story of one man’s quest to read the entire Encyclopedia Britannica, under the chapter for “U.”
Made me simultaneously miss my Sparky (the Dalmatian) and envision whole new business opportunities when I get home!
Sneaking on the internet while on vacation — tsk, tsk.
This nene was on Kauai, too — up at Koke’e State Park. Nene’s are doing okay on Kauai because they’re aren’t any mongoose on the island.
I’m sure are enjoying yourself on Kauai. It’s just spectacular.
This was taken at breakfast time about a week ago. It ain’t Tiffany’s, but the hay is better. 🙂
Gee, Andi, I join with you in wishing Keres and Luna and the Duckels well. How are you? I hear that you’re going to the high Utah desert in March. Here’s hoping for a new blue dot picture. I’m jealous.
It looks cold but the horses look like they don’t care.
I’m sure the Camera Creep (aka Jim) will continue to take sneaky pictures so there will continue to be additions to the Blue Dot collection.
I hope they are warm enough. It does look very cold. I’m sending virtual carrots their way.
This is Larry, otherwise known as “Pooper”. I think I posted this in a cafe once, but I love this shot and Larry loves to crash a party.
He’s not crashing — cats were invited.
And it’s a great shot. He has a talent for looking both relaxed and intent.
Tiger kitties are my favorite. But I don’t think I’ve ever met a cat named Larry before. interesting.
I’ve written about my 16 year old Springer Libby before. We’ve been through a real roller-coaster since New Years day. At first I thought she had a seizure and the vet said I needed to prepare to put her down. Then we thought she might have an inner ear inflamation or a brain tumor, so we treated the former and she got better. Then after two weeks she got worse and again, I prepared to have to put her down. Now she’s showing improvement and I’m thinking maybe she had a stroke. She’s still a little unsteady on her feet (can get up stairs but not down), but otherwise is her own sweet self. She’s obviously a great old lady and a real fighter.
So we’ll go on day by day and I’m grateful for all the time I have with her.
I’m happy Libby is doing better — give her a petting from me.
Gray and cloudy today and the Bu is wishing she had her sunny spot again:
Peace
Great shot! Bu looks like such a sweety. I LOVE the Carolina creeper crawling up the wall in the background.
Um…that would be Virginia Creeper AKA Englemann’s Ivy…one of the few that will flourish in this climate. Beautiful fall color-purple/red.
And she is indeed a sweetheart. Very affectionate, smart and gets along with everyone and just about everything…Squirrels and magpies, and some cats, excluded. Also not fond of Raccoons and, after an unfortunate encounter w/ a skunk when she was about 3 yrs…much more selective about what kind of (pole)cat she will chase…:{)
All in the spirit of play, I might add.
Peace
Ah, Virginia creeper. I was close. Around here it usually grows in conjunction with poison ivy, so most people don’t plant it on purpose. I love it.
Andi’s right… I love Bu’s eyes… very intelligent and very deep. I had a horse once who got sprayed by a skunk and he was shunned by the other horses for days. He walked around for 2 days curling his upper lip (a horsie “what stinks” trick). Why didn’t I give him a bath? He was my friend’s horse, and he was huge… not a one person job. She just laughed and said… “it’ll wear off”. We did get a good laugh at his expense.
Peace
You dog has those lovely eyes that cannot be resisted.
I love dog pictures where you can see their shiny wet noses.
I have to go against my pissy attitude this morning and take a few puppy snaps. Clint Curtis update follows and I wasn’t going to say shit about shit today but you put this up so I guess IT’S A SIGN FROM GOD!
to someone who is an absolute puppyslut? My lust runneth over. Thank you, thank you. And I’m certainy not sorry for destroying your resolve 😉
Tracy, please make the next puppy pic scratch ‘n snif. I love the smell of puppies in the morning! These pics want me want to grab an armful of puppies and bury my face in all that fuzziness.
Scratch ‘n’ sniff! lol! I couldn’t agree more. I want to bury my face in that fuzzy side, too.
I just saw a funny thing.
When my black cat’s on the deck and he wants back in, he gets up on the top railing, reaches up, and clings to the door screen. All I see are two cat legs, paws and claws in the window of the back door.
My cat Larry (pictured above, sniffing the posies) gets on my back porch rail, stands on the door latch, and peers in the door. If he weighed a little more, he’d be able to open the thing himself.
now if I don’t lock it. He’s working on it, gain a little more weight..wear that latch out a little bit putting pressure on it.
Two of my three cats do open the screen door to let themselves in – and yes, they’re the fat ones. Svelte little Penny can’t do it.
As a matter of fact, I hear Clarissa opening the screen right now, but since the real door is shut, I guess I’ll have to get up and open it. (Sometimes they’re waiting in between the screen and the real door when I get there, giving me that cat look.)
Clint Curtis a puppy to replace his German Shepherd Champ who was suspiciously killed while he was in D.C. testifying about now FL Speaker of the House Tom Feeney asking him to write a vote rigging software program prototype while Curtis was working for Yang Enterprises. I had wanted to give Clint a puppy out of a litter of dogs sired by McKinley but Soffie didn’t carry the puppies….bummer. Anyhow I had her bred locally and contacted Clint about the new pups. He shot me back an email and said that he will need to hold out for a later litter because things have really kicked up and he is on the road a lot right now. A bit too much at the moment for a puppy. He isn’t gossipy or chatty in the least and I was pissy yesterday so I didn’t ask what he meant by “kicked up”. I just converse dog with him…..but dare I hope that he is busy talking about stolen elections!! All I asked was that he take good care of himself because as the story goes so far we have one suspiciously dead man and one suspiciously dead dog and for me that is all the suspiciously dead things I want to handle right now.
Thanks for the puppy fix!
Both on the clock doin’ their job, supervising the neighborhood. One-eyed Toto #2 in the foreground is wearing Puget4’s work-in-progress, a doggie sweater. He’s nearing 14 years old and having difficulty adapting his thermostat to cold weather outdoors.
She converted it from a wool sweater I’d worn for 5 years after finding it used at a garage sale. I’ll leave it to her to describe the rest of the process. We use halter-harnesses rather than collars for the leashes, so the harness & neck hold the front in place. She’ll be adding a velcro tie under the chest, and some thing for the back legs, tonight or tomorrow.
Our neighborhood herd taking a break. When your job’s eating lunch, what do you call the mid day break?
We have periodic visits by a pheasant who tours around the region. Puget4 pushed the camera to its limits to snap him here.
Finally, it’s high tide just now, and according to our chart, at 13.1 feet it’s the highest we’ll have till at least December.
Large jellyfish cruising through Whidbey Island’s Penn Cove, which is also home of world-famous gourmet mussels.
I like your broad mix of critters. I’m pretty sure that this is the first jellyfish at Thursday Dog Blogging.
I think I’m a mammal kind of gal. The jellyfish and the bird critters don’t do a lot for me. But the Totos are of course some of my favorites. And looking quite fashionable.
Well, we also have amphibious critters:
Or, for those wanting a fashion statement with a bit more bite…
Gee …. thanks
Hey, look at it this way. Alligator hide accessory kit: Shoes, belt, purse, luggage.
Some Assembly Required.
No? How about some nice colorful butterflies?
They weren’t quite finished when I was there, but I understand they’re doing quite nicely now.
Stay!
The best thing about Reggie is that he doesn’t slobber.
And you don’t have to take him for walks when it’s raining/snowing/sleeting outside.
I love a male with staying power.
Check out this little fella. Isn’t he cute as the dickens?
Who needs a wet nose?
Now, if I could just get him to start shitting on the New York Post . . . .
Where is Ductape Fatwa when we need him to do one of his “what this looks like without my glasses” things?
but it wouldn’t look any different.
–we were assigned homework to draw a picture of our favorite animal.
I sat behind The Big Guy. You know him–a grade behind, likeable but not.too.swift. The only kid in the class who shaves.
His paper was nothing but colored crayon dots.
–“Plankton.”
Swift enough.
All are alive and well downunder.
Yes, I’ve been busy, at my new job editing the magazine of the Tasmanian Greens party. It has to be to the printer next week – as we have a state election coming up in just over a month.
A friend emailed me this picture of baby porcupines. I thought I’d share it today, in place of shots of the family.
Very glad that all is well and that you have what sounds like a great new job.
As for baby porcupines — now I know where they got the idea for troll dolls.
They look like aliens. Glad you’re happy and busy, but will expect more pictures of Luna when you are able.
OMG. I can’t stop staring at them. I want to, but I can’t.
Who’s a good little doggy??
Huh? Oh damn…
<attempts to resurrect manly composure>
Yes. Dogs. Nice creatures.
<clearly fails miserably>
<whistles and walks away slowly>
Look on the bright side, DH from MD–at least you didn’t say doggie-woggie.
Seven toes on every foot – working claws on every one!
(Guess how she got her name? Not too original, but irresistible.)
My dogs have grudgingly admitted that she’s awfully cute right down to her 28th claw.
