What are you doing this weekend? This ‘toon is hardly frivolous, but it’s funny. From American Progress‘s cartoons, as is this one:
Just in: Jill Carroll’s abductors have set a February 26 deadline for all of their demands to be met. (From CNN TV.)
That family looks too well fed. Also, they should be wearing rags.
And those trucks should bear the Halliburton logo!
Hanging out in the BooBook Club Sat. discussing ‘Lies My Teacher Told Me’.
http://tinyurl.com/8ub5h If this has already been mentioned I missed it. Link to article from Wed. stating the GOP leaders awarded Tom Delay a seat on the coveted Appropriations Committee and not only that but also a seat on the subcommittee overseeing the Justice Dept…which of course just happens to be investigating Abramoff and his dealings with lawmakers.
It’s days like this when I read this kind of stuff that makes me want to just cry..did this even make the fucken news? And even if it did the MSM probably would spin it someway so it wouldn’t seem to be a blatant fuck you to the public by the GOP..this is just such a massive cesspool of corruption and unethical behavior that days when I read this it seems pointless to try and do anything…like we’re just pissing in the wind here..
And I’ll continue to say it’s the godamn MSM who is the real guilty party and their fucken sick enabling of this bushco mafia…and keeping the general public supremely uninformed if not telling outright lies and not just Faux news anymore. How the fuck do you wake up the public with all the propaganda out there?
I will update the book club info in the left column.
Just heard Larry Johnson on Ed Schultz’s show. Sounded good re: the Cheney/fixing intelligence story.
Reported in Wapo, Cheney spoke last night to the GOP faithful gathered at CPAC annual meet-up.
His advice? “It’s political” …the NSA spying should be an election issue in 2006; in other words GOP should run on national security and terrorism, not away from it. Can’t make this stuff up.

Can’t say we didn’t get a heads-up. Bring it on, Vice. And how about Plame’s leaker too, Abramoff?
Frankly, imo, the economy, Healthcare Insurance, Medicare D will also figure top of the heap issues in ’06. It’s the economy stupid, Round 2.
Massage the numbers for Wall Street but we know where it hurts. Job creation are not in pace with population growth and lay-offs continue. VW just announced 20,000 due to be laid off. Add GM, Ford and other industries. I sniff a slowdown/recession in the wind. The real US unemployment rate is 8%,-not 4.7% (reported in the Economist) see “Jobs Disinformation from The New York Times” by Paul Craig Roberts former Asst. Secretary of Treasury under Reagan.

Let’s put an end to these liars and manipulators.
(hat tip war and piece)
Today is my birthday!!!
Happy Happy Birthday!!!
Thanks… for 2 happies!:)
Can’t think of anything witty and wise to say so I guess I’ll keep it simple..Happy Birthday Kid!
Doesn’t have to be witty and wise. Ican’t think of a witty and wise thank you!
Happy Birthday! And thank you for the enlightening diaries you’ve written on Medicare Plan D[iaster]. They’re much appreciated.
Glad they’re appreciated…was beginning to wonder if I was overdoing it!
Happy B-Day!
Disclaimer: it’s Frivolous Friday AKA: the devil made me do it
Enjoy!
Peace
LMAO!!!!
isn’t lurking…that photo might give him ideas…
Don’t have to worry–no spouse, just me. (Damn it!)
That’s so funny, Dada.
so have a 4. š
It’s the thought that counts.
You look pretty good for being so old.
Me or him?
Why doesn’t anyone ever tell me these things? I’m always out of the loop… š
Seriously, tonight we’ll be watching the Olympics opening ceremonies…tomorrow trying to get some cleaning done and going to get the spouse some new uniform pants (have the voucher from his employer)…Sunday taking mom-in-law to church then grocery shopping if I can come up with a week’s worth of menus…oh, and just caught the last part of Return of the King on Starz so I need to wipe the tears off the keyboard…
Ian’t this the third or fourth deadline they’ve set?
I wish these guys would just let the reporters do their job. Granted there are some who will write their stories while wearing peril-sensitive sunglasses, and some will have their stories spoon fed to them by the military, but if I were an Iraqi I think I’d want the story of what’s really going on in my country to get out to the world.
I vote we send you over there to tell them that.
Just kidding … but what you’re saying should be obvious.
‘course, kidnapping such a sympathetic person makes them get all the more publicity. They are definitely proponents of the showbiz advice, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.” Lord.
I thought she was released yesterday! What happened?
No plans for now. My Grandleezy is down with a bad case of the flu so I will be staying away from her for the weekend. Usually we do alot together.
I will take the opportunity to do some things around the house that I have been putting off.
Just had a great conversation with none other than our DamnitJanet. What a hoot! Love that gal.
That’s what Dan Abrams announced at the top of his show yesterday. Then, when I switched to CNN (because I don’t like Abrams’ Natalie Holloway and Entwistle show), Wolf only mentioned that a new video had been released … i put up an update about a half-hour or so after I posted Abrams’ erroneous announcement.
I don’t blame Abrams. His producer probably picked up a bad wire service story, and went with it. But, quite often, first wire stories are proven wrong.
Sunday night 2-12-06 “60 Minutes” Segment on Wounded Soldiers to feature
IVAW Member Tomas Young
This Sunday night February 12, 2006, CBS’s “60 Minutes” will present a segment called “Wounds of War” which their website CBS News describes this way: “WOUNDS OF WAR – Many of today’s soldiers who are severely wounded in combat are returning home thanks to body armor and improved medicine. Several of them tell Mike Wallace their stories. Robert Anderson is the producer.”
Among those who will be featured on this segment will be Tomas Young, the son of MFSO Member Cathy Smith of Missouri. Tomas is Cathy’s eldest son — he served with the Army’s 1st Cavarlry Divison in Iraq. On April 4, 2004 he was struck by an AK-47 round; he is now paralyzed from the chest down.
Tomas is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. Cathy Smith’s middle son is currently serving with the Army in Iraq. Tomas has traveled the country speaking out against the war and has been a powerful voice for Iraq Veterans Against the War. His mom Cathy has been a powerful voice for Military Families Speak Out.
If you get a chance, tune in on Sunday night (check local listings for time). We look forward to seeing how 60 Minutes will portray this very important and too often un-told story.

Bring Them Home Now
Oh, Jim. That’s a must-watch. Thanks for the tip. I usually watch “60 Minutes” but forget sometimes … and the Olympics will be on, and that might be fun.
