Please recommend (and unrecommend the Cafe/Lounge from earlier)
|
May the 4’s be with you
let’s see who can lick their eyeballs! 🙂
You first!!!
oooohhhhh I can see where this lounge is going tonight. 🙂
where it does every night. LOL
Yeah, I was thinking “tonight??!!??”
My mistake. Must have been the shooter or something, I remember so little.
Ask them if they can stick out their tongue and touch their nose.
When they reply that they can’t, you stick out your tungue and touch your nose . . . with the tip of your index finger.
HA! Good clean fun.
Assuming Omir is a man I find it very telling that three men have responded so enthusiastically to DJ’s comment.
Well, I am good with my tongue. LOL
Just a second . . .
<ZZZZZZZZZZZZip>
<peek>
<zzzzzzzzzzzzIP>
Yep . . .
I thought so but you never know. 🙂
Yeah yeah. Rub it in. That’s why I had to check.
Why should you take his word for it? He really ought to prove it. For all we know Omir is really my mother who has finally figured out how to use a computer.
My mom is still trying to figure out the subject line in email… But she is doing very well.. she just thinks I use too many bad words in my diaries… “Ohhhh Mooohhhhm”
I wish I could get my Mom to use one. She has some pretty radical thoughts and I’ve seen her rant at the TV when GWB come on.
There is no way I’m getting my mom a computer. I have enough challenges answering her “why is doing this” questions about the cell phone and the dvd player.
At least your mom has gotten to that point. If my Mom puts her TV on mute, I still have to go and show her which button to push. Forget about the DVD player.
Her Talabaptist family thinks she’s going to be inundated with porn. Tehy can’t believe she got it hooked to the net. The net is “evil” and porn just pops up on your computer.
Truly… they are frightened to death of the internet. And nothing you can say will change their mind. But then… htey think I should be shot dead for protesting against Bush. Shot dead in PUBLIC.
Just tell them she’s hooked up to the other internet. The one without all the porn on it.
A member of my family is like that about the net. Nothing but porn. I really think they would like to get on the net to check it out for themselves.
My mom thinks the same thing because she sees local news stories about porn chat rooms and stuff, so she thinks that’s all the internet is.
She still thinks the CD player is too futuristic.
Good point. I mean, for all you know I could be your mom. If your mom happens to be a 50-year-old overweight diabetic male who works in high tech in the Seattle area, that is.
Oh, and don’t think I didn’t see you feed your meat loaf to the dog.
Sounds like we have another mystery. Is Omir really Andi’s mother, pretending to be Omir, pretinding to be Andi’s mother.
Chaung-tze once wrote: Last night I dreamed I was a butterfly. But then I awoke, and from then on I was unsure whether I was Chaung-tze dreaming I was a butterfly, or Omir dreaming he was Andi’s mother, or a giraffe in a purple tutu dreaming it was a 1962 Studebaker.
He was of course straitaway given a high-level post in the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
If you had said a 1939 cord, I would have known you were my mother.
ROTFLMAO!!!
My head hurts trying to follow that one.
Doctor Robert – The Beatles
Capt. St. Lucifer – Laura Nyro
Gold Rush Brides – 10,000 Maniacs
La Belle S’Est Etourdie – Kate & Anna McGarrigle
What’s New – John Coltrane
Memories Of East Texas – Michelle Shocked
An Eagle Stirreth in Her Nest – Maria Muldaur
Hoochie Coochie Man – The Blues Project
Losing Our Job – Roches
Hotplate Heaven At The Green Hotel – Persuasions
Andi didn’t Maria Muldaur have a song called Wild Heart of the Young. If I’m thinking it’s the same person.
Forget about it. I stopped being a slacker and looked it up. It was Karla Bonoff. I always loved her voice.
Is she the one with the real gravelly voice? Maybe I’m thinking of someone else.
No her voice was pure silk. Now I’ve got some Kim Carnes and Bonnie Tyler. That’s more what you’re talking about.
Yeah…which one of them sings It’s a Heartache?
Bonnie Tyler.
I didn’t have it on vinyl or cd so I went to allmusic guide and checked and that song was done by karla bonoff who is a contemporary of muldaur’s.
I used to have a couple of albums by her in the 80’s, but they got taken along the way.
I still have almost every album I ever bought going back to 1965.
I wished I did. Here’s an old one for you. Richard Harris, the actor, singing MacArthur Park. Does it ring a bell? It was an old Jim Webb song.
Oh yeah — that was unforgettable but I’m afraid I’d have to say not in a good way.
Well I used to have it. Way back in the 60’s. Believe it or not Singer, the sewing machine makers, used to have a compact record player back then. For some reason I inherited those.
Great List!!! I will admit I am not a beatles fan and haven’t been since I was a kid. LOL
THe best part of your list is the title. Licky eyeballs. Sounds like a band name.
I thought THIS was a lounge lizard

woo hoo, Friday again…not that it matters, but it is a rationalization.
Got no Lizards…but got a bunch of the “Kinkster”, on vinyl and in print.
If you’ve never heard or read his stuff, I highly recommend it. He’s one-of-a-kind. Here’s one of my favorite quotes, from Greenwich Killing Time:
On the whole, I preferred cats to women, because cats seldom, if ever, used the word “relationship”…I rarely meddled in the cat’s personal affairs and she rarely meddled in mine. Neither one of us was foolish enough to attribute human emotions to our pets.
He has about 10 books out and they are marvelously entertaining reads…hipster, hard boiled detective parody…Dashiel Hammett on drugs.
Where’s the Jazz band?
Peace
He’s running for office in TX 🙂
Yeah the Texas Ralph Nadar. LOL
No joke. Or maybe I should say “no lie.” His campaign slogan is “Why the hell not?”
LOL yeah but we have Govenor Goodhair and we actually want him out of office and someone in that someone will work with on capital hill. Kinky wins and neither party will work with him or get anything done for 4 years. IMO
But ya gotta admit, it’d be fun. Maybe four years off wouldn’t be a bad thing if Kintky’s the only one who could defeat G-squared.

Peter B’s Homeland Security.
Andi, I liked yours, too…
Can’t Find My Way Home – Blind Faith
Living in the House of the Blues – Luther Allison
Sweetheart – Maria Muldaur
I Don’t Know that Guy – Greg Brown
Pick up Sticks – Dave Brubeck
Lawdy Miss Clawdy – Commander Cody
Boogie Back to Texas – Asleep at the Wheel
Can’t Cry Anymore – Sheryl Crow
Reet, Petite, and Gone – Indigo Swing
How Can I Miss You (When You Won’t Go Away) – Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks
Fabulous selection!!!
Feeling is mutual. We have a lot of groups in common. And the only one I don’t know is Indigo Swing.
They play good, danceable swing music, pretty much 40s style. You could do east coast swing, lindy hop, or the like to them. They play at places like Bimbo’s, or if you’re lucky, Club Deluxe, in San Francisco. They could easily turn up on the booking schedule at the same clubs as Reverend Horton Heat.
They won’t be easily turning up around here — I’m out in the country. I am 25 miles away from Indiana University but I do a really bad job of keeping up on who is playing there.
Wow! Great RT!
And like Andi said, the only one I don’t know is Indigo Swing.
6 Never Gonna Give you up- Rick Astley
about Rob Thomas.
Mmmmmm.
OMG his voice is one thing but add the looks in with it and I would be swooming at the concert.
I was gonna say that I’d catch you, but I’m afraid I’d be swooning too.
LOL
I suppose I could be there to catch the both of you. I’m post-swoon — hell, I’m post most things.
LOL!!! I do love you Andi!!!!
And I’m inordinately fond of you as well (that’s as far as I can go because I have a fear of commitment). 😉
LOL YOu have me laughing so hard I am crying.
I was going to say that I often have that effect on people but I think that would top my self-deprecation quote for the night.
Anyway, how the bigot wall of fame going?
You just made me think of this song:
That’s great. If Ambrose Bierce were alive today I would guess he wrote that song but since he didn’t I’m stuck. Who wrote that masterpiece?
Amy Rigby.
Who I probably wouldn’t have heard of, except that one of my friends at work (back when I worked at the office) walked in and handed me her “Diary of A Mod Housewife” CD, and said, “Every time I listen to this CD, it reminds me of you.” scary.
I’ll have to give her a try.
ROTFLMAO>>> I love it.
The computer that houses my “fake a random 10” script is refusing to let me connect to it from work. I will have to go home and figure out what its problem is.
I do have one very cool recommendation in the meantime, though: Mike Agranoff’s “Ballad of the Sandman.” It’s a 13-minute spoken word piece a friend turned me on to about a legendary DJ’s last hurrah in the days before radio became centralized, automated and boring. You can get a 45-second sample on Mike’s CD page — look under “Modern Folk Musician.” The lyrics are there too, but they don’t really do justice to Mike’s recitation, IMHO.
Here’s my random 10:
James- Erin McKeown
Anthony – Nickel Creek
Faith – Limp Bizkit
Gallivanting – Keller Williams
Natives – Victor Wooten
Feelin’ the Same Way – Norah Jones
The Letter – Macy Gray
DOn’t Ever Change – Amy Rigby
A Gentle Dissolve – Thievery Corporation
Spring can really Hang You Up the Most – Rickie Lee Jones
what a great list!!! I see we like a lot of the same music.
Thanks. I’ve been trying to finish uploading my CD collection onto my laptop this week, so my selection is getting bigger and better.
I love Rickie Lee Jones. Why isn’t she a big star?
she’s a big star in my book. One of the biggest.
I love her, but she is one of the most obnoxious performers I’ve ever seen.
I’m just psyched that I just found my Dread Zeppelin copy of “It’s Not Unusual” and other classic disco songs.
Jungle Boogie, Night Fever, You Should Be Dancing, etc.
I am a disco freak. LOL I can not tell you how many cds I have that are nothing but disco hits.
I’m trying to imagine “It’s Not Unusual” Dread Zep-style…
Have you heard the Austin Lounge Lizards do “Brain Damage”?
I’ll send you the cut if your email can handle it.
No I haven’t heard that band at all.
That’d be cool.
Austin Lounge Lizards are a fun and crazy bluegrass band…I have a couple of CDs here.
I got to go and run another errand again or either the jello is ready. If I come back and you hear two voices, it’s just me and George howling at the moon.
The Diva Dogs are sending puppy kisses and tail wags to george.
Happy Friday Froggies!! Here’s my Random Ten for today…
1 – Because It’s There ~ Michael Hedges
2 – A Case of You ~ Joni Mitchell
3 – Black Magic Woman ~ Santana
4 – Personal Jesus ~ Johnny Cash
5 – A Passing Feeling ~ Elliott Smith
6 – This is Love ~ PJ Harvey
7 – Tumbledown ~ Catherine Wheel
8 – Ring of Fire ~ Johnny Cash
9 – Homeward Bound ~ Simon & Garfunkel
10 – Lovely Rita ~ The Beatles
OK, so no obvious 80’s song this week. Catherine Wheel is kinda obscure, but maybe not to this crowd. At least I got Johnny Cash covering Depeche Mode. Does that still count? 🙂
It looks like you’re in some sort of time warp this week and have gone back to my younger days. And no, you can’t claim Johnny Cash for 80s music.
But, but, but… Johnny’s covering Depeche Mode. I vote that counts. 🙂
Ooh, PJ Harvey AND Elliott Smith!
Yeah… LOVES me my PJ, she’s one hell of a woman. And of course, Elliott goes without saying. 🙂
1 – The Zoo – The Scorpions
2 – Amie – Pure Prairie League
3 – Purple Haze – Jimi Hendrix
4 – If You Want Blood – AC/DC
5 – I’ll Be You – The Replacements
6 – Don’t Let Me Get Me – Pink
7 – Come On Feel the Noise – Quiet Riot
8 – Jungle Love – Steve Miller
9 – Never Let You Go – Third Eye Blind
10 – Wild Thing – The Troggs
WEll lick my eyeballs and spank my ass red… It’s (((((((((((((JDOG))))))))))
It’s been too long my friend. How the hell are you??
I dont have a iPod thingy… I’m pouty. 🙂
I am fantastic. You should head over to “Chat” and I could bring you up to speed. I am currently at a “friends” house. She is posted a little above me 🙂
Habanero Martini
Very fun! 🙂
they named the album “It’s Not Unusual” but that it little part is the only place it appears. I’m listening to Jive Talkin now.
But there’s a new lounge open!
Please unrecommend this one on your way out…
