I do not like green eggs and ham.”

A round of 4s for everyone.
Good morning, what’s up?
It’s Saturday morning. The fact that we’re all up ought to be accomplishment enough.
Did you make it through the storms OK? I’m concerned about Brenda. The news from Tennessee looks just awful.
we were fine.
I’m worried about Brenda too. It’s just awful that Tennessee would have two such deadly storms in so short a time.
And they’re even the right color! I take back everything I said about you when you were talking about fried chicken. š
How are you this morning? Glad that hell week is over?
I spelled the name of that chicken wrong many, many times when I was googling for that picture. I’m glad I got it right.
Yep, hell week is over. The “kids” got through their upset, which fortunately took place on a Friday like I hoped. (Well, I hoped to avoid the entire upset, but Friday was the next best thing.)
Maybe next week I can just work on law things instead of dealing with psychology.
Good luck with that-the lawyers I know say that dealing with psychology is part of the job.
It is. But dealing with the psychology of clients, opposing attorneys and people who are adverse is part of what I consider law.
Having co-workers in my office raging at the world (or crying) is NOT something I consider law. That’s the part I’m glad is over (I hope).
Yeah, there’s nothing worse than distraught co-workers…they come into your office, they won’t leave, they won’t shut up…
Thanks for reminding me how glad I am that I work from home.
that we can spend our schmooze time on BT and attend meeting via conference calls where we just might divide our attention by playing in the cafe.
Thanks for reminding me how glad I am that I work from home.

Where’s SallyCat when I need her?
Did you know that kansas was going to be doing a book tour across the river from you on May 4?
From here website calendar:
BORDERS
7 p.m., May 4
6601 North Illinois
Fairview Heights, Il.
No! I wonder if that’s the weekend of my partner’s retreat. I’ll be back in a sec, I’m going to look it up. Cuz if I’m here, I’m going to go see her!
Nope we leave for bonding/togetherness time the following Thursday. I wrote it on my calendar and hopefully I’ll get there.
I actually thought about driving over for the day but that’s about 8 hours of driving in one day which is an awfully lot for an old geezer.
But, but, but…we were commiserating with you!
Must leave for yoga now.
True story: When I used to manage a small probate & tax firm, we shared office space with another small firm. The two partners in the other firm would fight like dogs, and one year around Christmas it got so bad that one of them actually picked up the gift-wrapped Nintendo he’d bought for the other one and chucked it at his head in the conference room. Their staff spent the next two days crying and freaked out, just like the kids of abusive parents.
Is your “to do” list for the move being whittled down?
Lawyers are TERRIBLE managers. Our whole upheaval happened because a very popular young lawyer decided to quit and go to another firm for very logical career reasons. She gave 2 weeks notice just like she should have.
For some reason management decided that it would be a good idea to suddenly change the way we deal with people leaving and instructed her that she could tell no one that she was leaving until the day she walked out the door — except for her department chair and me. Pretty likely that everyone was going to assume she was fired right?
You don’t have to tell me how nuts they are. I did temp office work for a while, too, so I was exposed to a lot of different firms for a week or so at a time. My god. It got to the point where if they weren’t flat-out crooks, I liked them. I hope the chaos around your firm calms soon, or that at least you are able to sufficiently ignore the worst of it.
As for my to do list, I keep working 12 hour days, and paradoxically the list just keeps getting longer. Hey, it’s a lot like practicing law! š
lolololol! Morning maryb. š
Good morning. Got the iced tea ready for front porch sitting?
I made the slaves, I mean boys do the lawn yesterday because it’s supposed to rain today. It was fun watching Ben grumble when I made him wear hard shoes and safety goggles.
I’m worried about Brenda too. Been thinking about her all night.
did I tell you guys about my neighbor’s 5-year-old daughter and her friend coming over with their basket and helping themselves to the eggs from my chicken house?
Aw, aren’t kids cute? Did you smack them?
to take back everything I said about you being a caring and loving person?
I’m not saying I would have smacked them! I might have felt like it though. I’d smack the parents instead.
I have to admit that this was not the first time I found myself wondering how the parents could be so unaware of their daughter’s whereabouts. There’s a pretty good distance between houses here.
Just for that crack I’m going to take your poster down from my bedroom wall.
throw your darts at?
Well, the parents were so embarassed that they called and sent her back with the eggs, which she broke on the way…I think the whole thing is sort of funny, but the upside has been that they have begun keeping a better eye on where she is, and better yet, they’ve finally started putting the electric collar on their huge black lab that pees all over my plants and stuff and keeping him home too. Which has been an ongoing problem.
I hope it lasts.
And now you get to be that crazy mean lady who hates kids and dogs?
Nope. The boys answered the phone and the door when it happened.
Those mean ole CabinBoys…
Heh. I always make one of the boys answer the door when those snotty girls from the private Christian school come to sell overpriced flats of flowers. We don’t need no stinkin petunias.
I’ rather have the dog in my yard than the kids. LOL
At least the kids don’t pee on everything…
well let’s hope not but since you didn’t see them steal the eggs who knows if it is the lab or the little girl peeing in your flowers? LOL
and then no more of the creek. In fact, I’m not taking any more pictures in the woods until they agree to start growing green stuff.
I hope your tough love tactic works with the woods. I’m going to have to have the boy show me how to do the ‘view large’ thing on photobucket.
I love your creek pictures.
you just upload two versions of the picture at different resolutions.
If Ductape were here I think his low vision would see partially filleted salmon.
spilling out.
I need to run a quick errand.
(OK, yes I’m going to Starbucks, but I have to do something else too!)
did I miss anything?

This is great!
We now return to our regularly scheduled coffee consumption.

I’m trying to imagine them shipping the cannon cross country.
Howdy folks. I took a nap and now the sun is up and the world is beautiful!!!!! Hope everyone is having a fabu saturday!!!!!!
Are you saying you got up early enough to have already had a nap? Was this getting-up-early-on-a-Saturday-morning an accident or are you one of those morning people?
I get up every day between 4 and 5 and woke up this morning at 3 am. LOL
I see by your UID that you must be kinda new around here, have I said hello yet? (I’m amidst prepping for a cross country move so I’m kinda crazy right now.) If not, then, hey, how are ya, welcome to the pond, hope you’re getting good service here in the Cafes, don’t forget to tip. š
Booman went over to dKos recently and invited people to come for a swim in the pond. I divide my time between the two sites. This is a great place. And it’s very nice that we don’t endlessly have people screaming at each other here.
Indy and I could scream at each other if it would make you feel more at home.
Actually people here don’t scream (much). They write really, really, really long posts explaining their positions in such detail that by the time you get half way through with them you’ve forgotten what the argument was about in the first place.
which are answered with even longer posts carefully analyzing every point raised in the first post which are then answered by the original poster who carefully analyzes every point in the answerer’s post who …
and all the while the rest of us are in the cafe/lounge being EXTRA nice to each other …
It’s a good system.

I think you misunderstood me. I don’t know how. I was as clear as can be.
OR
Are you intentionally avoiding addressing my main point (which was buried in the middle of a sentence in the fourth of ten paragraphs)?
and all this with lots of careful qualifications to prevent arguments. “Unless I misunderstood you . . .” “I took this statement to mean . . .”
I know Maryb hates this, but the exposition is one of things I really like about this place. I like the snark, to be sure, but I also enjoy a really thorough analysis in a way few people do. Philosophy dorks are almost all like that — which is good, you know, and people should stop giving us shit over it, since we wouldn’t even have the concept of democracy or equality for the activists to run with without this kind of work.
LOL There is a difference between thoroughness and beating a dead horse. I love reading detailed dairies with lots of links for facts and figures but hate when someone attacks an opinion piece because it isn’t their opinion. LOL I especially hate the people who can never agree to disagree on a topic and keep arguing because they have nothing better to do than attack someone else. Can you tell I use to post at Dkos and stopped?
I agree with your assessment.
And yeah, many of us here are veterans of Big Orange. š I actually started posting there Way Back When™ Kos first started up, well before the switch to Scoop software, but eventually left because of the sexism coming down from the management.
just simply got fed up with the bickering, much of which a management firuge would be involved in (not Kos). Got to where I’d see the thread drifting down and off to the right I’d hit (X) and be out of there. One day I arrived at BT and back then seemed like I recognized half the posters. I’m here for the duration, or Amageddon, which ever comes first.
if other people are writing even longer, and more involved theoretical posts than you do, you can congratulate yourself for your moderation. š
I try not to compare myself to other people too much because I will almost always lose that game, lol.
Uh huh. Not likely (but I’d be interested in the contest over who looks best naked except for socks).
My opinion is that nobody looks best naked except for socks, but out of respect for Maryb, I won’t write a thesis on why, and out of respect for refinish69, nor will I argue if someone disagrees. ;p
of the socks!
Be careful what you ask for…:{)

I can see I’ll have to be more careful in the future!!
I doubt that I’ve have ever, ever left a very long post. I mean, really now, all my fellow bootribbers and all my nonvirtual friends know me to always be a very concise, get-right-to-the-point type of person, I mean, ya know, brief, like ya know, Hanes, or Fruit of the Loop, or is it Loom. I forget now, ’cause I never bought that brand. But I mean, ya know, if I was any better at being concise I’d be an attorney, by default, if nothing else, since there’s usually some default by which one gets to be an attorney, right? But then I suppose we all get to be something by default of our own individual life events being impacted by gravity of the earth, moon, sun, and the rest of all that cosmic clutter circumnavigating the universe. Well, I think I’ve made my point on how concise and to-the-point I really am. So if anyone has any doubts on this matter please feel free to hit that ol’ reply button and let me know. ‘Cause I’m sure if I haven’t already made it perfectly clear to you, I’m very willing to make another attempt. I hope this is all perfectly clear to you now that I am a very concise person. Thank you for taking the time to read this brief post. Have a great morning in the last 1/2 hour you have of it, assuming you are all in CDT Zone. Or whatever time, including the zoned out one that dada lives in.
ROTFLMAO!!!! You sound like a DNC Pundit LOL
Well, good that you didn’t say DLC Pundit. I might have degenerated into a dKos style rant! Ha!

Yah, you betcha! The higher the better!
“Flashback’s-R-Fun”-dada
And another, “Ya, you betcha!” – NDD
(I was just checkin’ your level of bright-eyed-busytailness this morning, dada.)
Welcoem to the pond and enjoy the much friendlier aspects of the pond!!!
I just got up. Anything interesting happen while I was away?
morning!!!!!
I called a nursery(sp) in NC and left a $200 credit for my Mom to use on her flower gardens this year. It is a cmobo Christmas & Mother’s day present. When she sends me pictures later in the year I will scan them and share them with the group.
where there is some green stuff in the woods but it’s mostly moss and a few buds opening. š
I don’t understand why you are farther behind us. We have flowering trees flowering and clumps of grass and spring flowers. The big trees (oaks, etc.) aren’t in bud yet, but there is green (and yellow) everywhere.
cause nature is like her internet connection…SLOW!!!!! LOL
That’s it exactly!
ROTFLMAO!!!! Thank you!!!
It’s warmer in cities so thing green up sooner.
Slow start on the Left Coast — need to go exchange a pair of pants that are too small today, then come home and get some serious cleaning done. Tomorrow won’t be on probably at all — church in the morning, then Sharks game in the afternoon/evening.
I’m worried about Brenda too — does anyone have her email handy? Hope the storms didn’t get too close to Knoxville Progressive either (I’m totally clueless about geography in that neck of the woods).
Okay, time to get to work…ah, the joys of domesticity…
Have fun!!! I think I am going to go get another tattoo today. Here is the design I have done for it
The design is also available on shirts at left of the rainbow
Going to be gone till way later tonight.
Here’s the most green I could find in the woods — new pine needles.
Have fun!!!!!
Since we have some kitchen witches around here, let me throw this question out. Today I’m making a new thing, Pork Rib & 13 Bean Soup, and I’m looking for suggestions on how to prep the pork ribs before adding them to the bean soup. I was planning on just browning them up in a frying pan with some olive oil, maybe throwing a finely chopped onion in there to saute with them. (I’m putting a bunch of roasted garlic into the soup itself.)
Anyone have any other ideas for that, or tips maybe? I don’t make a lot of pork because Roomie’s allergic, but she’s not here right now, so I’m into it.
Are they really fatty ribs…cause they sound like they might be. I’d brown them just like you said but drain the fat off before adding onions and garlic and parsley, celery, etc.
Yes, they are the boneless and fatty kind. Yum. Thanks for the tip, SN. I’m good at chicken and beef, but still learning my way around the pork. [insert your own lesbian-themed dirty joke here.]
ROTFLMAO!!!! I am not saying a word.
I’m still learning my way around the pork too, Indy. The soup sounds good, and probably a good thing you live alone with the whole 13 bean thing. š
Ah, the Cafe. Genital jokes, fart jokes…I really adore you people. š
And much as I hate to, I need to boogie off and start making food and working that to do list. No rest for the wicked.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!
I’m going sailing. Well, resale-ing that is. I sure hope Brenda checks in while I’m gone!
I’m envious of your resale-ing…have fun!
as my friend in the flood photo has a small shed sinking into the mud, so we’ll be raising that up, adding some new wood to the bottom plate, and setting it back down on some concrete pavers.
So it will be up to the regulars here to keep the place afloat until my return late this afternoon.
Be careful!
The afternoon cafe is now open for business. Leave all dishes, newspapers, debris here and head over there.
