Agree on the painting … though at first blush I almost failed to see the waffle connection. I was expecting more along the lines of those ubiquitous boxes with the tall signs you see all over the South. This is infinitely better!
and work is a slow day for a switch so I better not complain. At least we’re almost over the hump and I’m looking forward to the weekend with much impatience. And some point before Sat, have to go get a new grill to inaugurate. The old Smoky Joe has just about seen those fabled “better days.”
That’s exactly the one I would like to get! The little one is just too little these days, though I would like to keep it for smoking chickens and such.
Lol, I don’t really mind at all. I just have this sneaking feeling that it’ll be a long time till I live this one down for certain folks, that’s all. 😉
I just got some pictures of worms and even better two five-lined skinks. So stop by for the happy hour/evening cafe and I’ll post the skinks. I don’t think anybody (but you) really wants to see the worms.
here’s a link to the worm picutre, though I can’t imagine that either one of you couldn’t go get pictures of your own worms any time you wanted. I was lucky to get the pale guy — he scooted back out of the light really fast.
Good to hear, Andi. Now if we can send it up WW and O’s ways, we’ll have a happy quorum here. Our weather looks to be a bit on the warmish side this weekend, but I’ll sure take it, as long as I can get more stuff in the ground. This is the big drop dead and get it all in the ground weekend, meaning veggie area needs tilling and planting up!
Hey there Olivia…
How’s tricks up your way? Sorry I missed your exit last night, but did enjoy watching the storms come through down on the porch. Thus the sleepiness today, since they arrived so late!
Well, I’m off to a presentation here in a few, so will catch up with you folks later today sometime.
No reflections today. Had to go to the dentist this morning so no time for a walk. But since the wood pile is right outside the door, I might go later to see what I can find hiding out.
You didn’t miss me since I was only around first thing and then I went to the dentist and I’ve been doing nose-to-the-grindstone since I got back — till now.
So now that you’re slacking have you had time to do some navel-gazing over your possessions?
Well, I did miss you, just in a different sense of the term. How was the dentist?
I have done surprisingly little navel gazing, probably because half my brain stays in bed all day no matter what the rest of me gets up to, and the other half has been carefully monitoring the movements of the toothy geese.
Don’t know — we don’t have that kind of relationship.
Sorry, I can’t resist a bad joke. Hey, maybe this’ll work to keep the geese a safe distance away — I give you a steady supply of repellently bad jokes.
I am being such a huge pansy about the geese. Day before yesterday I sat in the living room and watched out the window as a toddler of perhaps 2.5 marched right up to within inches of the geese and fed them while giggling his ass off. I cringed, waiting for the attack, but the geese remain benevolent. Thus far.
{{{{DJ!}}} I’ve been in and out — you know how crazy the move thing is. We’re finally starting to settle in. We still have a dining room jammed full of boxes (and I have a housemate who keeps shopping for new stuff), but things are coming together.
Hey good luck on that job interview, I hope everything goes as well as possible. If ya gotta work, doing it in a liberal bookstore is the way to go.
When school schedules conflict. ACK 🙂 But I managed to get one off to school (late start Wed for my son) and make it in time to catch my daughters assembly where she was in the band. I missed on song but I caught the other three : )
I got to talk to a beautiful soul this morning, too. Always great to talk to a Tribber. (((SuperSoling)))
And… coffeeman winked at me and wished me well on my interview which happens around noon:30.
Finally we here in OR heard the sweet voice of our sister Katie. She’s out of jail in DC for attempting to knock on Rumsfield house door to ask him to stop killing, torturing and lying. She was arrested and jailed with 3 others. Heard on the radio and they called her Bond. Which totally stoked my son up.
Anyways… thank you all to those friendly cyber faces for helpin gme understand some things a bit more clearly. XOXO
get off my ass and start getting ready for our camping trip this weekend.
But my ass is one belligerent mofo this morning.
In other news, our “spayed” dog went into heat this week. Gave us panic attacks when we first noticed — as in, why is the dog bleeding from her nether regions? Luckily, it is heat and nothing more… but now she has to get opened up again. I am so glad we didn’t go to the dog park over the weekend, where she undoubtedly would’ve been humped by something…
OMG that must have been a real shocker for you… my question is, how do they botch a spaying unless they just didn’t do it (or properly) and said they did? I’d hope that the vet is planning on a “pro-bono” correction, since I’m sure you paid for it to be done right the first time! Sheesh!
Kind of reminds me of a canary we had a few years ago… Ming was quite the singer, and we were told and assumed that Ming was a he bird. Imagine my surprise when I got up one Sunday morning and found out that ‘he’ had laid 3 eggs in the cage overnight! That was an eye opener… poor thing never got to indulge her maternal talents though, and kept on laying duds for another couple of years.
when they fixed her before we took her home, they opened her up and couldn’t find anything. So they thought she’d already been altered… she was a stray, so I’m sure that’s not uncommon.
They are going to redo it for free. But yes, it was initially quite a shocker. Of course, the whole household has been happily declaring that Lucy really is a bitch since we found out that’s all it is… we’re really a whole clan of seventh graders in big people bodies.
Man, those shelter people opened her up just to see? Makes ya wonder where they did their vet training. When I got Pepa she was already spayed, but my vet checked her anyway just to make sure. All he did was locate a certain scar that proved it to him. But he’s top notch too, at least in my book.
Yeah, ain’t it grand having someone in the house you can legitimately (and even in polite company) call a bitch on a regular basis? Pepa fits that role to a T in our house.
Hey there, all — so good to see you, as I lift my head from the detritus of time.
Lovely weather here today — 60s, perfectly sunny, with a gentle breeze.
It’s a shame I haven’t been out in it, but I’m about to head out. Need firewood for the night.
Culling’s been hard today; I’m into my sweetheart’s writing work. I’d best go back to my books.
Frankly, the most appropriate thing for most of this stuff would be a massive bonfire — something my honey would definitely approve of, in terms of his personal effects.
However, my landlord would plotz.
Most of the books, I think, will go to the literacy volunteers’ bookstore. The messy ones (falling apart, scribbled in or half-eaten by the kitten) go to our recycling center & the absolutely crucial ones come with me. I’m determined to find space for them — & I’m looking to get those down to 3 or 4 boxes, from about 30.
😉
Btw, I’m not really concerned about my landlord in the matter of bonfires — but it’s been far too dry. Best time for a bonfire is in the snowy winter!
I never was a packrat but I did hold onto alot of stuff. Then when my husband moved out I underwent a sort of cleansing process and now I like things sort of spare and functional. The only area where I refuse to throw things away is my kids’ drawings and school papers through the years. I’ll lug those around forever.
Perfectly understandable, o delectable one. I know a thorough gypsy — always, always moving, forever & ever — who still brings her little girl’s baby clothes & artwork around with her.
The little girl’s almost on her way to college now.
🙂
I’d like to bring things down to ‘spare & functional’ as well; in fact, I’m being forced to do so, which is fine.
But there are those certain things that recall someone so well, it’s almost as if they were right there with you.
LOL. I didn’t envision such a positive effect. I was actually being sincere and then I couldn’t resist putting in the dig about cigs. I gave up coffee for a couple of years and didn’t really notice a difference and then I thought ‘what the hell am I doing – I love coffee?!’
The pancakes are excellent as well.
I love the painting you used for cafe. You are just too briliant.
Agree on the painting … though at first blush I almost failed to see the waffle connection. I was expecting more along the lines of those ubiquitous boxes with the tall signs you see all over the South. This is infinitely better!
Sunny out your way Andi or more froggy weather?
I’m glad you guys like the pic — it struck me as perfect when I found it. Hope you’re both well today!
and work is a slow day for a switch so I better not complain. At least we’re almost over the hump and I’m looking forward to the weekend with much impatience. And some point before Sat, have to go get a new grill to inaugurate. The old Smoky Joe has just about seen those fabled “better days.”
Get thee a Weber kettle, the big 30″ one…I prefer the traditional charcoal type…you will not regret it…:{)
ps: their ‘chimney’ starter is way cool too…and environmentally friendly…
That’s exactly the one I would like to get! The little one is just too little these days, though I would like to keep it for smoking chickens and such.
I’m sorry IVG … 🙂
t’was a ‘nick of honor’, if you will…
canadian ya know, always tryin’ ta get a rise outta ya…<rimshot>
A Mari usque ad Mare…eh O?
Self preservation dictates I go back to work now…:{)
Peace
Lol, I don’t really mind at all. I just have this sneaking feeling that it’ll be a long time till I live this one down for certain folks, that’s all. 😉
scaredy cat … 😛
I just got some pictures of worms and even better two five-lined skinks. So stop by for the happy hour/evening cafe and I’ll post the skinks. I don’t think anybody (but you) really wants to see the worms.
but I really want to see the skinks. Just love those lil critters.
I’m fascinated at how smooth and soft they are, and yet they can push their bodies through the roughest stuff. 🙂
here’s a link to the worm picutre, though I can’t imagine that either one of you couldn’t go get pictures of your own worms any time you wanted. I was lucky to get the pale guy — he scooted back out of the light really fast.
I don’t like that pale guy. He reminds me of…oh nevermind.
Even more if you could have seen how fast he retreated.
… about that very obvious veining … 🙂
And I don’t care what that says about me.
I can’t wait for happy hour! 🙂
HA!
The solid week of rain has now been followed by a solid week of sunshine which looks like it is going to continue through the holiday weekend.
Hope your long weekend has good weather as well.
Good to hear, Andi. Now if we can send it up WW and O’s ways, we’ll have a happy quorum here. Our weather looks to be a bit on the warmish side this weekend, but I’ll sure take it, as long as I can get more stuff in the ground. Sounds like you’re all fairing well … Good to hear that you’ve got sun for the wk and w/e Andi.
I think you said that you’re not presenting, for questions if needed. Hope it goes well. 🙂
what you’ve uploaded. I really like the straight on shot of the straight-on shot of the columbine.
I uploaded three last night out of the 150! In case I didn’t have a chance tonight to take more I was going to put the pink ones up at the b.
Any green water reflections today? Or toads, frogs, salamanders … 🙂
No reflections today. Had to go to the dentist this morning so no time for a walk. But since the wood pile is right outside the door, I might go later to see what I can find hiding out.
And maybe you could flip over some rocks too … 🙂
It went fine. Didn’t have to say much other than what I did and who I was. Good thing too!
You have an easy afternoon now?
Waffle House rules. Scrambled eggs, grits, toast, bacon, and hash browns smothered & covered please.
Coming right up, IndyLib!
Thanks, Izzy! You’re the hostest with the mostest.
Ooh, that works for me too, and it’s just coming on lunch.
Great tongues, you know. ;p
I’ve been told I could have a great tongue if I could just get unstuck from my cheek.
How’s my favourite haiku-ist these days? Are you feeling better?
Thanks to your sweet flattery, I’m feeling like a cunning linguist. 🙂
cunning tonguing linguist.
How you doin’, Andi? I must’ve just missed you in the AM cafe.
You didn’t miss me since I was only around first thing and then I went to the dentist and I’ve been doing nose-to-the-grindstone since I got back — till now.
So now that you’re slacking have you had time to do some navel-gazing over your possessions?

I like your bad jokes.
They are generally aggressive only when there are goslings about. But I think it’s a pretty bad idea to let a kid go up to them.
I like your bad jokes.
I’ll see if I can compete with the David Spade movies.
I’m still waiting on the cherry stem story … 😉
How are you?!!!!!???!!?? I’ve missed you!!!!!!
Been having Indy withdrawals damnit! 🙂
{{{{DJ!}}} I’ve been in and out — you know how crazy the move thing is. We’re finally starting to settle in. We still have a dining room jammed full of boxes (and I have a housemate who keeps shopping for new stuff), but things are coming together.

Nice stack you got there 🙂
Thanks, DJ! Feel free to help yourself. Wait, we are still talking about pancakes, right?
Am I too late for the pancakes? Or is this breakfast 24/7?
It’s never too late for pancakes — you’re in plenty of time.
Another hit and run. While I was outside 92 F/33 C, I got a few pictures. Had to come in and rest a little while and get some more water.
Don’t know what kind of flower, but that’s what I’ve got today.
Oh IVG thanks for telling me about that right click for seeing the picture larger.
Check back later.
FM these are wonderful! Looks like lily to me.
Yup, those be lilies, imo. Pretty ones… gotta love yellow.
you take great flower photos, too?
Taking a quick break from domesticity…not too much going on around here otherwise.
Weather — kinda muggy for Silly Con Valley…
Have a great day…
You never stick around — you’re always on the go. 🙂
Yo O, Izzy, Andi, IVG…Monday on a Wednesday in the foothills.
Weather’s cool tho…
Gotta go, later
Peace
Sounds nice! See ya later.

IVG, salad finger?? ROFL
Good luck at the interview!
Thanks (((((Andi!!!!))))) for everything.
In the rush this morning and afternoon, I forgot to dry the pants I was going to wear. ACK
Ooh … the wink! 😉
We’ll be crossing appendages for you!
Olivia 🙂
The dude is HOT! His accent. He’s HUUUUUUUUGE! and he likes hockey.
Actually he’s a really nice guy and will be a neighbor. Been very kind.
It’s just that winking… damn… 🙂 “Hello, I’d like a cup of coffee and some fresh panties” 🙂
Chances for evening drinks outdoors at the Sky Prairie bar high atop the Hotel Donaldson look bleak.
Hopefully it won’t stick around — just don’t send it eastward. Send it south LOL.
get off my ass and start getting ready for our camping trip this weekend.

Your lusciousity – if you truly can’t part with stuff but don’t have room for it, you can mail it me – I have a big attic. I swear I won’t peek. 🙂
How incredibly sweet of you, SN!
& may I say how great it is to see you?
As for the stuff: I’m sure there’s a lesson about release here; just have to acclimate myself to learning it.
🙂
Frankly, the most appropriate thing for most of this stuff would be a massive bonfire — something my honey would definitely approve of, in terms of his personal effects.
However, my landlord would plotz.
Well I’m sure that doesn’t apply to the books though. Are you going to be able to store them somewhere or will you have to get rid of them?
Hola, Andi! Nice to see you.

Btw, I’m not really concerned about my landlord in the matter of bonfires — but it’s been far too dry. Best time for a bonfire is in the snowy winter!
that you want to keep and have no place to store, let me repeat SN’s offer — I’d be glad to keep them for you until you have room.
I never was a packrat but I did hold onto alot of stuff. Then when my husband moved out I underwent a sort of cleansing process and now I like things sort of spare and functional. The only area where I refuse to throw things away is my kids’ drawings and school papers through the years. I’ll lug those around forever.

But there are those certain things that recall someone so well, it’s almost as if they were right there with you.
Well, we’ll see.
I’m getting ready for happy hour. My hours are flexible.
There are a lot of loose women out there, let’s go cruise chicks.
But maybe not those chicks.
I was just thinking it’s about that time! I’ll go put up a lounge.
Last time I saw you, you were head to bed.
Did you have a good sleep today?
Too good. It’s 4pm Central Time and I just got out of the shower.
Time for coffee… I’m all about the Kona, personally.
Since I’ve given up coffee I can only remember.
Ummmm coffee.
I’m curious if you’ve noticed any positive effects from giving up coffee – as opposed to, let’s say, cigarettes.
Yes. I’ve found I have a lot less energy in the morning. Much more conducive to naps. 😛
LOL. I didn’t envision such a positive effect. I was actually being sincere and then I couldn’t resist putting in the dig about cigs. I gave up coffee for a couple of years and didn’t really notice a difference and then I thought ‘what the hell am I doing – I love coffee?!’
Well actually even with the coffee naps were never a problem. 🙂
You have this amazing way of never directly answering a question.
Froggy Bottom Happy Hour is open!
