I had Friday off, back to work today, Tuesday off, back to work on Wednesday through Thursday a.m, then off for the rest of the week. I don’t think I’ve had tried a pattern like this but I think I could come to like it.
I’m trying to obsess about my flight but my medication won’t let me. I’m feeling very relaxed about it which means one of two things: either I’ll have an enormous panic attack when they close the doors of the plane, or I’ll be really relaxed when it plunges nose-first into Virginia.
She had a huge variety of flowers in her garden, some of them were past their prime but a lot were still very nice — this was my favorite. I’m trying to decide which, if any, of the other pictures are worth posting.
Pwetty fwowers today, as every day. Is this why I haven’t planted any this year, because I’m getting a full dose of vicarious gardening from the cafe? Thanks, guys, you saved me a lot of money and work.
You’d better take that coffee with you, or you’ll never make it.
Morning, kb! Seems like ages since we’ve talked. I’ve been cleaning and painting every day at my mom’s house. And you’ve been entertaining relatives, I think?
I wish I could! But I’m trying to finish up all my painting today. I’ve got one more week of non-stop activity and then I’ll be much freer for lunch or coffee any ol’ time.
good morning froggies-unfortunately i had to work so i snuck out for a minute to visit. i figured out a couple days ago how to run the furnace fan so it sucks cool air out of the basement and blows it out the heat vents-ahhh!
i’d rather be outside but when i do come in it’s nice.
stay cool today if you can
Today I finish the book! I’ve got one major special effect to write and then a denouement scene and it’s drafted, maybe 2-3k words. And if I didn’t have motivation enough, Dr.Mc has suggested rather strongly that if I don’t finish it so she can read the end, I’m going to be in serious trouble.
Tea, glorious tea! Ancient Beauty Jasmine, a Yunan black harvested from ancient (go figure) trees. A hearty Jasmine with a note of velvet.
Anybody but me remember this song from nineteen-sixty-something?
Blue sky, sunshine
What a day to take a walk in the park
Ice cream, daydream
‘Til the sky becomes a blanket of stars
What a day for a pickin’ daisies
And lots of red balloons
And what a day for holdin’ hands
And bein’ with you
Lazy day just right for lovin’ away
Lazy day made for a stroll in the lane
Baby you and me
And a honey bee
Lazy day, lazy day
Lazy day for you and me
Blue sky, sunshine
Flowers bloomin’, squirrels are sayin’ hello
Rowboats, bird notes
People smilin’ everywhere that we go
What a day to be together
And what a sky of blue
And what a day for thinkin’ right out loud
I love you
Lazy day just right for lovin’ away
Lazy day made for a stroll in the lane
Baby you and me
‘Neath a shady tree
Lazy day, lazy day
Lazy day for you and me
[break]
And what a day for thinkin’ right out loud
I love you
Lazy day just right for lovin’ away
Lazy day made for a stroll in the lane
Lazy day just right for lovin’ away
Lazy day
I’m a sucker for close harmony and always loved listening to Spanky and Our Gang. One of the coolest bits of trivia I know about them is that at the height of their success Spanky McFarland visited the Yale Glee Club (I think it was Yale anyway) and got them all singing Sunday Will Never Be The Same. Now that would have been something to listen to!
They had some great songs. Sunday Will Never Be The Same, Lazy Day, Sunday — those are the three I remember. Somewhere around here I have a Greatest Hits CD that I should dig out.
I’m one of the unfortunate ones who has to work today! But, oh well, the glass is half full since I have a decent job where — at least so far — no one is trying to drive me crazy. I especially like the short hour days with 20 minute (average) commute on either end. I also like having my own office, so I guess overall I can’t complain. When I get some holiday time built up, I can use holiday time like most of the other staff are doing.
So, anyway, have a great lazy day and see you all at happy hour!
A woman told me today that she doesn’t care how hot it gets but she hates the cold weather. I don’t understand that. You can always put on another sweater and sip hot tea if you’re cold. But there’s only so many things you can do to cool off.
I stained some 2X2 for the deck railing yesterday. I’m trying to generate some enthusiasm for installation at the moment. The second Dos Equis doesn’t quite seem to be doing the job. However, MS NDD will be home from work a little later, and it would no doubt brighten her day to see some progress…
Did ya make it past the couch and out into the yard yet? If so you may be just the inspiration I need, right?
Ooh, I am coveting that 59 degree night. That means I can sit outside in the morning and drink coffee and maybe have to wear something with sleeves. Oh, the joy!
Good to see you back — well, I saw you were back last night but I missed you. Good to hear you had fun and that’s a gorgeous photo up there — can almost ‘feel’ it. 🙂
I made some of my Calypsos for some new friends, one was just a beer drinker but after awhile he asked if he could have one too and voila!!! he loved it 🙂
Hello everybody! The draft is finished and it’s dancin’ time! Just got back from a celebratory lunch at our local Mexican place, and now I’m going to get some housework done before the buzz wears off.
You know, when you put it that way, it does sound kind of insane. But really, lunch was celebration. The house stuff is just taking advantage of the energy burst.
it’s just the natural state of things, though are definitely things to be said for your system. Especially since I do lots of housework. Dr.Mc makes the big academic salary bucks and I stay home and write and do the majority of the life support stuff.
Thanks DJ. I feel about a thousand pounds lighter. It’s the fourth major task I’ve cleared off my list in the last seven days, and the biggest. Just two more (hopefully done in the next two weeks) and my professional list will be the clearest it’s been in years.
Oh yeah! And if I’ve still got energy after the housework gets done, maybe I’ll dabble a bit in the exciting world of house painting. Thanks Cabin Girl.
Thanks Olivia! Is the correct response to me rocking to say that “You Flower!”? I don’t think I mention this enough but the flower photos that you and SN throw into the cafe never fail to make me smile.
That looks ever so much more apealling than the beer I intend to drink once I get back from the shopping trip Dr.Mc suggests that I should be getting off the computer to make. Maybe I’ll get one of those while I’m out.
Good morning everyone! If any of you are NOT in the middle of a long weekend, my apologies to you.
The rest of you need to get out of bed and start the day anyway. Long weekends don’t happen everyday ya know!
I had Friday off, back to work today, Tuesday off, back to work on Wednesday through Thursday a.m, then off for the rest of the week. I don’t think I’ve had tried a pattern like this but I think I could come to like it.

How about we go for so relaxed you even enjoy the newark airport?
How much can I enjoy it in 20 minutes? I’m hoping not to miss my connection.
When I was little and my brother was more little… I talked him into seeing how many of those wish flowers he could shove up his nose…
Big sisters are eveeel.
SN – is that dandelion one of your photos? It is a beauty!
Thanks – I’m famous in my neighborhood for having the most beautiful dandelions!
I’ve always thought of them as free flowers.
It’s all in how you look at it. 🙂
Make your neighbors some salad with dandelion leaves, serve them some dandelion wine and they’ll never complain about the dandelions again.

Ooh, pretty. I love daylillies and how their inner bits are way out there.

and bug bites and dirt under your fingernails.
Morning, kansas. 🙂
Morning, SN. 🙂
And dirt tramped into the house, and empty pots accumulating in the garage and gathering cobwebs, and water bills.
Oh, yes, the joy of vicarious gardening. I’ll just sit here in my chaise with my iced tea. Y’all keep on digging.
is that the vicarious weeding is completely effective.
I’m thinking about trying to walk before it reaches 90 degrees today.
But coffee first.
I have about an hour before it reaches 90. Supposed to be 96 today with humidity around 55%.
so I should be hoping that you don’t reply to this comment for at least an hour.
I’m still finishing that coffee. So I’m here. It’s gone up a couple of degrees — 84.
So I’m in a race.
You’d better take that coffee with you, or you’ll never make it.
Morning, kb! Seems like ages since we’ve talked. I’ve been cleaning and painting every day at my mom’s house. And you’ve been entertaining relatives, I think?
Yes — but they’re gone now. So it’s back to normalcy for me.
Can you take a coffee break this afternoon?
I wish I could! But I’m trying to finish up all my painting today. I’ve got one more week of non-stop activity and then I’ll be much freer for lunch or coffee any ol’ time.
to do some errands before the heat really settles in. I don’t suppose the Cafe filling up will be much of a problem! 🙂
Good morning Frog Pond people! 😀 I just woke up; I have a few things I need to do right now, but it’s good to see you all.
good morning froggies-unfortunately i had to work so i snuck out for a minute to visit. i figured out a couple days ago how to run the furnace fan so it sucks cool air out of the basement and blows it out the heat vents-ahhh!

Way to go! Completing a project like that is always a wonderful feeling.
Mornig again everyone. Just a hit and run.
Been outside trying to get the lawn done before it gets too hot. I’m beginning to believe 65-70 F is too hot to do yard work.
I’ve got the front lawn picked up, but not mowed yet. I’ll have to see if I can make it past the couch to start again.
See ya’ll later.

Thanks for bringing on the first big smile of the day, OMIR

any of the real Spanky and Our Gang, in The Little Rascals
[don’t tell Olivia I saw such things, she’s got way too many “clues” pertaining to the year of my origin as it is.]
Um, I saw them in reruns on TV! Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Sounds good to me … 😉
That is a lovely song Omir … I found the tune as well, and sang along w/ it.
be about the Little Rascals, you know how after hearing some stories again and again over the years you sometimes think you’ve been there…
Especially when you hear them over all those decadences … 🙂
to say hi.
It’s good to have you back w/ us … 🙂
They had some great songs. Sunday Will Never Be The Same, Lazy Day, Sunday — those are the three I remember. Somewhere around here I have a Greatest Hits CD that I should dig out.

Happy 4th of July
Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!
Nice dandelion SN, reminded me of one ‘Head posted in the FBL Late Nighter a few days ago…for those sleepy heads who may have missed it…a redux:

Hope all those w/ an extended wkend are enjoying it, and wishing for a quick end to day day for those cubicell dwellers…
Peace
Anybody around here today?
It hasn’t been a lazy day for me today. I got part of the lawn done, but it’s just too hot to continue.
I feel a nap approaching pretty fast.
It’s miserable outside. I’m hoping for some thunderstorms to cool things off.
I’m hoping for winter.
A woman told me today that she doesn’t care how hot it gets but she hates the cold weather. I don’t understand that. You can always put on another sweater and sip hot tea if you’re cold. But there’s only so many things you can do to cool off.
or, as I tell people, I can put things on to keep warm. There’s only so much I can take off before people start to point and laugh.
Ain’t it hell when things go south. 🙂
One of my errands was taking pics at the garden center before it got above 90. I didn’t make it.

Need I say it again, you need to have your own b.
Too much work.
‘Sup today? Did you buy the fireworks for the show tonight? Has George stopped barking?
Not much going on now. To answer all the questions – no.
I’m fighting off a nap at the moment. I think the nap is winning. 🙂

Photogenic little buggers, aren’t they? We really need to make some wishes…and blow.
and neat that you captured the water drops down in the blossoms. I’d never heard of those flowers before. Are they just common in the SC area?
I never heard of them either until I moved down here. They’re drought resistant and bloom like crazy.
How’re ya doing today NDD?
Got plenty of hot weather. Want some?

YUCK!
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
Ooh, I am coveting that 59 degree night. That means I can sit outside in the morning and drink coffee and maybe have to wear something with sleeves. Oh, the joy!
It heats up pretty fast but if the dogs get you up early enough, it will still be cool. 😉
Good to see you back — well, I saw you were back last night but I missed you. Good to hear you had fun and that’s a gorgeous photo up there — can almost ‘feel’ it. 🙂
so I took a bunch of pictures, though nothing to match your stuff. I haven’t decided which other ones I want to post (if any).
I love the idea of you wandering around your friends garden taking flower pix … I know when I’m out hiking I think of your woods … 🙂

Those are so “cute”… they look almost unreal. Never saw one till today. Thank you Second!
I think I might have missed you on this previous post.

They had some interesting tales to tell…
Thanks NDD! 🙂
Wish you could run into me 🙂
Hopefully in person and not in a car 🙂 Cause that would kinda ouch a bit 🙂
of some pastel-colored drink. 🙂
I made some of my Calypsos for some new friends, one was just a beer drinker but after awhile he asked if he could have one too and voila!!! he loved it 🙂
Nuttin’ wrong with pink drinks 🙂
There is if it’s a Shirley Temple.
Ahhh but that’s not a “drink”… Sherley Temples was an Italian Soda 1.2 version.
Hate to run, but I’m about to fall asleep in the chair.
Back in awhile.
Idiot son of an asshole
Hello everybody! The draft is finished and it’s dancin’ time! Just got back from a celebratory lunch at our local Mexican place, and now I’m going to get some housework done before the buzz wears off.
Yippy-ti-yi-yay!
Let me get this straight – you’re celebrating by doing housework?
stage an intervention.
Definitely. I know just the person, too.
You know, when you put it that way, it does sound kind of insane. But really, lunch was celebration. The house stuff is just taking advantage of the energy burst.
Well, in our house, when the male does housework it counts as foreplay.
it’s just the natural state of things, though are definitely things to be said for your system. Especially since I do lots of housework. Dr.Mc makes the big academic salary bucks and I stay home and write and do the majority of the life support stuff.
little did I know… all these years… well, there’s no time like the present… or so they say…
Well, congrats regardless of how you celebrate.
Thanks Andi! It’s been a good week.
Happy Snoopy Dancy of JOY!!!
Thanks DJ. I feel about a thousand pounds lighter. It’s the fourth major task I’ve cleared off my list in the last seven days, and the biggest. Just two more (hopefully done in the next two weeks) and my professional list will be the clearest it’s been in years.
As my son would say…
You should have an Eskimo Pie
🙂
Of course… he’ll bring one for you AND himself, natch’.
Wes’ Bond and Eskimo Pie
That is defninitely a reason to celebrate!
Congrats!
Oh yeah! And if I’ve still got energy after the housework gets done, maybe I’ll dabble a bit in the exciting world of house painting. Thanks Cabin Girl.
Congrats Kelly … Woo Hoo!
You rock!
Thanks Olivia! Is the correct response to me rocking to say that “You Flower!”? I don’t think I mention this enough but the flower photos that you and SN throw into the cafe never fail to make me smile.
Enjoy the rest of your awesome day.
