Hey FM…good to see you. I overslept yesterday, so good thing I’m awake this time. How are you?
I’m fine. The oversleep thing hit me a couple of days ago too.
How’s the new computer working out?
Working very, very nicely, thank you. 🙂 I just need to play a few video games on it to make sure everything is good, and I’ll be set.
That’s good to hear. That’s something I’ve never been able to get into, video games. I guess my geezerhood is showing, but I always prefered bar games.
I used to be much more into it. But with work and political blogging, I hardly have the time anymore. Which I guess is okay, considering it’s highly time-consuming and doesn’t really add any real value.
I think my problem was I never could get past the first level in any game. 🙂

Morning FamilyMan!!! I am glad it is Wednesday!!! I feel like I had no weekend of course because of the campaign camp and am looking forward to this weekend. No political plans for it as of yet, but lots of other things I have to get done. LOL
Refinish you always have something to get done. I bet it would drive you crazy to sit quietly for 10 minutes. 🙂

It’s the height of spider season here and mostly I just walk into them and have to pick the webs of my face and glasses — taking a picture of one is much more pleasant..
I am not a spider person but the webs are beautiful. I hate walking into them also. ALways makes me think of old horro pictures where the next thing is you are caught by a monster. LOL

(And I really appreciate your comment on my photo, though unlike your shots, mine are basically happy accidents.)
Not a problem. First, let me state that I`ll shoot anything. It maybe a subject that stands on it`s own, or I may be taking it to be part of another composite. I put shots like this in a file as backgrounds, eyes, skys ect. The spider I shot on the flower, you quickly ID`d as a “Peace Lilly”. A few weeks ago I saw a web on the porch with possibilities. Mind, that I try & shoot webs all the time.
This web I shot holding a black T-shirt behind it while keeping the web in the sunlight. The auto-focus will capture the contrast better than with a distracting background. It`s also much easier to extract either the web or the black background from the downloaded shot.
By selecting the background color [black in this case] & cutting out those
pixels in “edit” you now have the web. If you take the shot & paste it on another transparent background, & perform the first actions, you now have a spiderweb with a transparent background which you can now paste on any picture. You may have to resize your web to fit your idea.
This is the same web, sized differently, in a composite that shows how slow my helper is at learning how to use a laptop.

If you look carefully, you`ll see the spider from this web near his left foot, which is more than you can say for your beautiful web shot. haha.

The gargoyle was a 3D shot I was doing last week.
On another note, there’s a 2000+ commented recommended diary that has absolutely no worthwhile content in it. I understand it’s supposed to be funny, but to me, it’s just another sign that quality on dKos is being diluted.

::yawn, stretch:: Good morning, y’all. I woke up at 5:30 having to pee and couldn’t get back to sleep. If I’m not mistaken, that’s a pretty major sign along the highway to Geezerism. Well, it’s either that or a random side effect of ingesting the bits of dishwasher soap residue that I just found all caked into the cracks of the little removable part in my coffee machine. Whichever.

I cannot be up at 1, 3 & 5, Family Man, because I will lose what little is left of my mind. The gray beast needs its sleep. 🙂 I’m still in a flare, so I’m not well, but it is givng me these little breaks early in the morning where it is not too bad so that’s nice.
How are you and Family Mom doing with that ferocious and imposing dog of yours? I’m glad to see you’ve not been hospitalized with too high of an ice cream-to-blood concentration or anything.
We’re doing fine, but going through relative visiting burnout. I think George is barked out and I haven’t made ice cream in a week now. The relatives are keeping me to busy.
I hope this flare up ends soon for you.

Thinking about Chicago — you said you’d want to go up early and stay later. Were you thinking of something like Friday – Sunday or were you thinking longer?
If I am able to go (which will be determined by not only my illness, but also E’s mom’s, which is deteriorating but we can’t tell quite how rapidly yet), I’m thinking I’ll probably need at least Thurs-Sun, and probably Thurs-Mon. There’s no way in hell I can do a two-day trip anywhere. I am still crawling up the stairs in the apartment; the fatigue and muscle weakness are both very bad.
That might be too long for us but maybe you and I can go up and Jim can fly up later. I guess we can worry over the details later given that there are so many other immediately pressing concerns (but what the hell — I just find it enjoyable to think about planning a trip with you).
You & Jim really should make your own plans because I am necessarily going to be flaky about this thing. I hate being flaky more than I can tell you, I have always been bugged out by flaky people, but my context right now sort-of demands it.
Actually, I like to talk about planning but am really good at not doing the actual planning so most of this is going to wait till the last minute anyway and we’ve got lots of time to be flaky about it.

Seriously, thanks for the offer. I may well take you up on it considering the hotel prices in downtown Chicago, yikes. I was excited about the possibility of a B&B meetup because I could get a luxury suite, but on my income it’s hard to rationalize the kind of expense that adds up to in a place like Chicago.

Hey CG. Got your email and will write back today. I went in yesterday and confirmed that I had bronchitis and also that because I was pretty much unable to use my Advair without a coughing attack, my asthma was flairing up which made the coughing fits worse, etc.
I had a breathing treatment and am on augmentin and nasacort or something like that for nasal polyps – but although I feel slightly better I’m waiting for it to really kick in to feel better.
Hi SN. I didn’t know you had been feeling this badly. I hope the medicine kicks in soon and helps.

Nice to “see” you in the day time. Glad you like the photo. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one lit up quite that nicely before either — the spiders have to build in one of the few spots where a break in the canopy lets the light filter through so it’s just luck.
Well, last night’s baseball game was among the crappiest I have ever had the pleasure to witness. The Mariners got shellacked 12-3.
Just when I think they show signs of life, they pull stunts like this. But, the seats were free and the location was good, and the worst day of baseball beats the best day working, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain too loud.

Yeah, but they were probably happy about it. There were about 30,000 people at yesterday’s game and I think about 10,000 were Blue Jays fans. We always get a lot of people from BC who come down to see Canada’s Team.
I just heard from one of my correspondents that “Crazy Carl” Everett has been designated for assignment, though, so the news isn’t all bad. 🙂
