I am almost embarrassed to admit that these two ass-clowns were good friends of mine in high school. But this is kind of a window into the type of attitude I have in real life.
Going to school with John Popper and Chan Kinchla was an honor, not because they were gifted musicians, but because they were two of the best people I’ve ever met. Here they sell out π
Hey, I know people who went to HS with Popper, too. So I guess we might know each other through association? π
I went to HS in NJ, too, but a bit farther north…
incestuous jersytude!
where? Hillsborough?
Uh, Summit – or Scummit as my pals from surrounding area schools liked to call it.
the only school with a better women’s field hockey team than us. Bitter rivalry, right there. I saw quite a few of those games in high school when one of my girlfriends was on the team. Just vicious.
Oh, yeah, our women’s field hockey kicked ass. I mean serious ass. They totally rocked. Football, however…let’s just say that the powderpuff homecoming game where the women beat the men…totally could have happened on a regular basis. At least while I was in school…
You went to school with the harmonica man! I went to school with a girl who dated Michael Bolton – no joke. They broke up and then he and Nicolette Sheriden got hitched.
LOL! I went to school with Tea Leoni, though her name at the time was Tea Pantaleoni. She was gorgeous and pretty stuck up and always got the leads in the school play. I also went to school with the guitarist for the Spin Doctors. He was just too cool. I smoked pot with both of them. :>)
I was once offered $75 for my yearbook from a collector of yearbooks of people more famous than you, but I couldn’t part with it.
small world, I went to school and was friends with the singer from the Spin Doctors, Chris Barron nee Gross. He is best friends with John Popper.
Wow…it is a small world. I had to go look up the guitarist’s name, Eric Schenkman, since it’s been a few years. In the process, I discovered that he has also played with Poppy, though it shames me that I have no idea who that is. Eric is a talented guitarist. He and a couple others used to jam all the time. (It was a hippie boardng school in Vermont, so lots of free time to play in the evenings and such.) Lots of Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. It was obvious that Eric was passionate about the guitar.
So…Boo..is that two or three degrees of separation? ;>)
I meant Popper, really!
Umm, that wouldn’t be the Stowe school, would it?
I went to the Putney school in Southern Vermont. However, my best friend’s brother went to Stowe. I went up there a couple of times and it was outrageous. Stowe was even more radical than Putney. They really knew how to party! :>)
did know how to party…I used to hang out with a few of them on Dead tour.
Hey, I met him on the train into NYC once when I was home from college for a break. I had my UC Santa Cruz sweatshirt on and he was all excited to talk to me. This would have been like 1989 or 1990 I think? He told me they were playing in the city and I should go see them, but I already had other plans. He seemed like a really nice guy.
LOL! Eric was a totally nice guy. I had a crush on him (along with virtually every other girl on campus). :>)
He was one of the few that didn’t play stupid clique games that high schools are notorious for.
The only celeb I grew up with, Kyle McLachlan, loses his personality when he “acts”, but he must still have something given his partnerships.
Gosh well I guess I should play this game too π
I went to HS with the young lady who does the news on the E! channel. I honestly was shocked out of my gourd when I returned to the USA in May (2006) and saw her looking back at me… and the funny thing is I completely remember her desire to be famous.
Small world…
