Anyone planning on watching Bush’s speech tonight?

I hate reruns.
I haven’t watched one before, why would I start now?
Besides, I can pretty much guess what it’s going to say. “Blah blah blah 9/11 9/11 9/11 terra terra terra blah blah blah.” With subliminal messages like “Vote Republican,” “Democrats are scary” and “Be very afraid.”
If I’m afraid, it’s not because the subliminal voices told me to be.
Naw! Going to do my weekly phone bank thing for the local Dem candidate Jim Marcinkowski. When I’m done with that I will feel as though something POSITIVE just happened, instead of …well, you know!
are we getting close to 4000 users/ That will be a real milestone.
3961. You have 39 friends?
hey I am lucky to have any friends these days…lol!
No – I’m getting a bikini wax by the author of “1001 things to do with duct tape.” Much more enjoyable.
is that an either/or decision?
You know the author personally??
I have it on good authority that duct tape is a very effective hair remover.
I’ll bet you do! 🙂
Um, no. The last time I watched Bush was during the debates with Kerry.
I’m sitting here trying to figure out how much money you would have to pay me to sit through that stammering idiot’s speech (if you can call it that).
since I threw away my tv 10 yrs ago this month.
What I do plan to do is watch some more George Carlin…like this one: Owners of This Country…sent to me last night by a friend.
A very cathartic rant, highly recommended.

In the words the The Divine Miss M – “why bother?”
If I did, I would INDEED need the accoutrement you so generously supplied. But nah. Think I’ll go to bed early and just repair myself instead.
Don’t watch Bush. Watch Keith Olbermann at 8 EDT on Countdown with another special commentary. And this time he uses the impeachment word.
this has not been a very good day. Bush is very much abandoned in this thread and also, by NATO and
The Observer, UK suggests we follow the money
“Five years after the World Trade Centre fell, a highly lucrative industry has been born in America – homeland security. There has been a goldrush as companies scoop up government contracts and peddle products that they say are designed to make America safe.”

If I wanted to hear delusions, fear mongering and the inanity of credulous fools, I’d try to get a Giants fan to explain to me how so many dominating performances by that storied football team result in losses.
Now that’s rubbing it in with hot sauce.
Neither team in the Giants game dominated. Tiki Barber and Peyton Manning both had great games. Giants in clutch time when they had to pass (and couldn’t rely on the run to set up the pass) couldn’t close the deal.
Hats off to the Colts for winning in a very loud and hostile environment. They won even though they had a pitiful running game.
It will almost be strange enough to watch: according to the local schedules, the ABC crapumentary part 2 will begin for an hour, the Bush will be on for half an hour, then the movie will resume. Some people say this half of the movie will show the screwups on Bush’s watch. I’m usually a big fan of surrealism, and this promises to kick surrealism up a notch, but I think I’ll pass anyway.
then coming back to watch football — Monday night doubleheader. Will watch Keith on the DVR after the football is over (which, since it’s the Raiders, will probably be about halftime)…
…if he followed my advice.
But I’ve got a pallet of barf bags in case he chooses to go with his old standard.
I just lectured on Ruminative Disorder (wherein little kids barf up all of their food) to my childhood behavior disorders class. Always like to take advantage of current events that tie so well to psychopathology.
Never! I don’t know what’s worse, the frat boy sneers or the whining. It can’t be said enough – the man is a disgrace and an embarrassment to our country.
The only TV news I can stomach anymore is PBS’s Newshour. I must say that without commercials and with an entire actual hour designated for news, they can do a lot more in-depth reporting. PBS also seems to stay away from dwelling on the BS type of story such as shark attacks and the children being kidnapped and killed everywhere syndrome.
Anyway, PHS had a great round table discussion on tonight which gave a real spectrum of the divisions in America concerning post 9/11 reactions and especially the so called war on terrorism. You can listen to this 20 or so minute discussion at the following link!
I especially liked the views of the Arab American and the colored minister, but could not stand the supper conservatives point of views from the baptist minister, the woman for Univ. of Chicago, and the obvious college Repub brat.
A real true picture of today’s America can be seen listening to this, and I strongly recommend doing so.
NG – I am “colored” and as far as I can tell everyone else is too. Maybe some day we will evolve to “the color of water.” (The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother by James Mcbride) Chances are much greater that we will continue to blend the colors of the earth.
Thanks for the link.
to go back and listen to the entire podcast to get this minister’s name. Therefore, I identified him by his color, and I guess I do/did not know the correct terminology to use be it African-American, or Black, or Colored. I might have done a political incorrect act here, and if I did I’m sorry, but I was only expeditiously trying to identify the fellow whom I agreed with for the most part!
I think I’ll scoop the litter boxes. Those are perfectly acceptable places to find feces.
I’d say that’s a much wiser use of one’s time.
I figured I’d put on Monty Python and the Holy Grail for myself and the daughters.
“Bring out your dead, bring out your dead.”
“And he bravely ran away
Bravely ran away, away…
When danger reared its ugly head
Sir Robin turned his tail and fled…”
Am I the only one who watched??? Yeah I did, it wasn’t easy but I want to hear him say the words, not read them later. Well if you want to know, it was a typical, campaign speech attempting once again to tie Iraq to the war on ‘Terror’. Good writing, very tight,as far as that goes, if only the words strung together were the truth.
But really the good part of tonight was Keith O’s comment immediately proceeding the speech on the West Coast, and wow was it something. He’s getting better and better, here’s a link to it and if you click to his home page you can watch the video. Enjoy!!!

I was out and missed the live version but had just watched it before coming here. I personally was crying and cheering at the same time. I sure hope he is watching his back. Night all!
I refuse to watch the lying sack of shit any more.
Haven’t seen Keith yet — we’ll watch after the Raiders/Chargers game.
Heading over to Crooks & Liars to see if they have the clip up yet to add to my “Keith Keepers” file… 🙂 (M$NBC web site very unfriendly to Mac users…hoping that’ll change when the “partnership” between Micro$oft and NBC officially ends…)
Here’s the link to C&L’s piece, complete with unofficial transcript of the comments: LINK
According to C&L, “This was probably the most powerful special comment yet by Keith.”
Holy crap, not sure I can wait to watch it…
Thanks for this, Cali.
I was planning to look at C&L for the video; you saved me the search.
If anyone missed Keith @ Countdown tonight – check the link above; he’s great!
Just go to MSNBC.com and go to Countdown. The video was up there right away and is still up. It is great. Do not miss it!!
Not I said the fly.
