Stop by after voting, and tell us who you voted for, the Republican, Democratic or Other Party (Green, for example) candidate for House and Senate. This is an anonymous poll, but obviously it’s not random, nor scientific. If you’d like identify yourself and your choices, feel free to add a comment to the thread.
As for me, it will be a vote for a straight Democratic ticket, except I intend to vote for the Green candidate for Senate in NY rather than Hillary Clinton (D) or John Spencer (R). Hillary is going to win, so my vote is intended as a protest of her position on the Iraq war.
Florida
Jim Davis Gov.
Bill Nelson Sen.
Straight Dem Ticket
Senate–Carper (D)
House–Spivack (D)
State Rep–Levin (D)
State AG–Biden (D)
State Treasurer–Markell (D)
State Auditor–Dlato (D)
and here too.
Sen–Menendez
House–Aronsohn D
All 4 local races– D
kiss my ass, republican assclowns.
oh, and only yes to the gast tax for the highways. The other 2 I voted No for.
For Angie Paccione- against Marilyn Musgrave!!!
For Bill Ritter (CO-gov race) even thought I detest his stance on reproductive rights. We’ll be chatting.
All else Dems, down to the county coroner.
In other great news, I woke up to a Dem flyer urging us to vote. Let’s all buy coffee today for our activist friends and family.
South Dakota
Straight Dem ticket – although I am not happy with Herseth these days.
It was a pleasure to vote NO on Referred Law 6. Polls show it will not pass. I hope this turns out to be the case. I also voted NO for the second gay marriage ban in this state (wonder if all those folks voting for it realize it would hurt more than just gay couples…).
I was also happy to vote for the increase on the cigarette tax.
I plan to watch the returns this evening – and hope we will all be pleased.
Time to kick the bums out!
I’m anxious to hear how things go in SD, and I hope it doesn’t pass.
I voted the EDBC (every Dem but Casey) ticket, with a write in for senator so I could still vote against little Ricky Santorum.
did you vote for me? I’m hoping to come in third in the Senate.
i voted for you for governor
the new definition for rendell…the lingering stinging sensation you feel after being fucked in the ass non consensually by someone you thought was a friend…..i should enter this on wikipedia.
i wrote in paul scoles for senate….aids activist, doctor, ran against weldon when no one else had the balls…..he is a hero to me.
our polling place was a mess..its a new location and they had 2 precincts voting there….in different lines…only the poll workers kept putting people in the wrong line…at 7:15 am there was a pretty long line made worse by the fact that we were in the right one, then sent to the wrong one….then sent back to the right one…then they let all the unhappy people in the wrong line cut in front which made everyone in the back of the line even more unhappy….new voting machines….so people had to be shown how to vote…they were touchscreens and seemed easy enough…. i needed to borrow a pen to do my write in and im not sure if i imagined it but i think i got some looks…..dont people write in anymore?
after voting i went to my favorite nail salon for a pedicure and all the little korean girls were talking about voting….that was very cool because i always wondered if they were like slave labor or something.
i voted at the Chester B. Arthur gym. Not a single person there but me. But I asked how turnout was and they all chimed in “GREAT!!”
Go figure.
I was disappointed that they weren’t blasting Barry White like they were during the primary.
I wrote in Scoles too, just so he could have multiple votes (sorry, BooMan).
I’ll not only vote for Dems, I have the honor of voting for 2 women for the federal offices:
Amy Klobuchar for Senate
Betty McCollum for House
Same here.
I will also be shuttling (like minded) elderly neighbors to and from the polls, along with a neighbor, who also drives a 1995 green Villager van. If you put them end to end, we have our OWN BIG GREEN BUS! (Hello Paul! We’re ON it down here!)
And thanks to both you and NLinStPaul for votes for Amy and Betty since I’m no longer in the right state to vote for them myself. They’re good candidates that we can be genuinely proud of.
Pretty safe to say our little green busses have delivered at least six more votes for them so far, too, so we’ve got you covered, Kelly!
Democratic Candidates
Barbara Ann Radnofsky for Senate
Mary Beth Harrell for House of Representatives, Texas District 31
Chris Bell for Governor
Maria Luisa Alvarado for Lt. Governor
David Van Os for Attorney General
Hank Gilbert for Commissioner of Agriculture
Fred Head for Comptroller of Public Accounts
VaLinda Hathcox for Land Commissioner
Dale Henry for Railroad Commissioner
Jim Coronado for Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 2
Diane Henson for Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 3
Mina Brees for Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 5
Bree Buchanan for Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 6
J.R. Molina for Presiding Judge, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals
Karen Felthauser for House of Representatives, District 52
Steve Wynn for State Senate, District 5
Brig Mireles for County Commissioner, Precinct 4
of course I voted October 23rd the first day of early voting. LOL
Florida,
Gov – Jim Davis
Sen – Bill Nelson
House – Bob Bowman
Maryland Voter-
O’Malley for Gov. (Dem)
Cardin for Sen. (Dem)
Cummings for Congress (Dem)
Plus every Judge, Delegate, State Senator, Sheriff that was listed as a Democrat.
…because the crap I received today was just truly nauseating.
It was a pro-Steele expose-cum-newsletter with the “headline”
“Ben Cardin EXPOSED!”
“Ben Cardin Promises to Attack Jesus Christ, Pastors, Churches and Christians and to Take Away Blacks’ Freedom If He Is Elected.”
I lie to you not.
When you flip the page, there’s a chart that reads “Three of the Many Issues”: Same Sex Marriage (of course with two white men kissing, as if there are no gay African-Americans); Abortion: Modern Day Child Sacrifice (complete with dead baby, not fetus–and yes, this is all in color) and FREE Blacks from Prison when DNA Confirms Innocence (Well, DUH!! Oh, and about the death penalty in Maryland that Steele was supposed to do something about. I guess I missed his memo.) Then there are columns with a picture of Michael Steele and Ben Cardin. Underneath the pictures reads For What Jesus Says (Steele) and Against What Jesus Says (Cardin).
I am SICKENED by this. It’s just disgusting. My God, if the people pictured weren’t Black, then I’d have thought this was printed by the Klan.
And I measure my words.
AP,
Send an e-mail to Talking Points Memo – Ask them for a fax number.
They are coordinating with People for the American Way(PFA) to keep track of all voting FUBARS.
Also call DCCC and ask them for a FAX number then send them a copy too.
Thanks – things like this should not go unaddressed. Apparently PFA is planning on taking action and bringing charges – Ditto with the Dem organizations.
Thanks for the advice.
I want to hasten to add that I think most people will see through this BS. But I’m insulted and disgusted all the same. Where were these people for the minimum wage debate, and the Fair Share Health Act?
No fucking where to be found.
But on a subject that actually means something to people, and I all I hear are crickets from these types. I forgot that the writers of this “newsletter” actually had the temerity to equate Michael Steele with Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman.
I feel as if I need to shower, that’s so offensive.
…this vile “newsletter” and other rethug tactics was reported on in today’s Washington Post (Democrats Denounce Flier Mailed by GOP). Reading about this “newsletter” and actually reading it are two different things. This may be a blue state but there are an awful lot of anti-choice wing nuts around, and I guran-damn-tee that they were the money behind the “newsletter.”
Also, this:
I received that one in the mail yesterday. I’ve gotten about 4-5 mailings from Steele.
How many have I received from Cardin? None. (Not including surrogates, but I only received one of those). O’Malley/Brown? Zilch. This is why this race is closer than it should be: Steele is a vapid empty-suit, but knows how to campaign. Cardin has a wealth of knowledge, but has he communicated it at all? No.
And IF the rumors are true, Cardin and/or his surrogates said some time ago that they didn’t think they’d need Prince George’s County. I don’t know if that’s true, but he’s damn sure campaigning–or not–like it is. This election is too important for dumb bullshit like that. Which is why I’m a bundle of nerves right now. This race should NOT be this damned close, and though my friends think Cardin will pull it out by seven points, I’m not nearly as sanguine. I will be more than happy to be wrong about that.
You just cannot KNOW the depths of frustration I feel. You just cannot know.
They didn’t act like they needed Montgomery County either… Most of the work on campaigning came from the local Dem crowd (Jamie Raskin for State Senate, and the three Democrat candidates for Delegate), who have a much bigger grassroots base, and who expanded their focus to the whole Democratic ticket after the primaries. Though apparently O’Malley and Cardin did do handshaking forays at early morning Metro stations and such.
Still, not nearly as big a push for GOTV as there could have been… and Montgomery and Prince Georges are both densely populated, strongly Democratic districts.
I think the issue is that in a sense they’re old-school Baltimore-area Dems, i.e. they still see Baltimore & environs as the state’s Democratic core. Plus, it’s their home turf, so naturally they focus there. It’s foolish, of course, particularly when you consider that the DC suburbs have more population than the Balto area does. One of the interesting angles about the aborted O’Malley-Duncan show-down was the potential shift in political power from the Balto-Annap corridor to Mont. & Prince George’s Counties.
Sadly, I’m just a close spectator for this one; thanks, tho, for finally sending Willie Don into a long overdue retirement!
Oh. My. God. That scares me even more.
And that’s what pissed me off so much about Cardin: He’s smart, he’s a workhouse, but he also seems like this is his due and that everyone will just fall in line. That’s just nuts! You’ve got to put the work in. The stakes are too high for him to have run such a campaign.
I think Bro. Feldspar is right but he needs to look around…the people and the money are in the DC burbs. Montgomery & Prince George’s Counties are home to the mother load of Democratic votes and he just ASSUMES they’ll be there for him? I haven’t received ANY mail from him. Nothing! And I’m a supervoter…I vote in EVERY primary and general election since I’ve lived here.
Now my parents in VA are deluged for every election from both Dems & Rethugs because they’re supervoters, too. But that damned CA confederate (the rethugs think my parents are republicans–ha!) made sure to send mail to the house!
One of these days, we’ll have to meet and have drinks. I hope we’ll have something to celebrate.
…of course, the hubby and I voted absentee:
-O’Malley/Brown
-Cardin
-Gansler (Atty Gen)
-Franchot (Comptroller–no more Willie Duh…the MDers here will understand)
But locally…Lots of write-ins. I’m truly beside myself with these people. Hell, I even wrote Snoopy’s name in for one of our leading lights on the ballot.
And I voted YES on the ballot questions curtailing some powers of the county executive so that our corrupt county executive that we are now stuck with has a bit more trouble handing out bullshit contracts to his friends.
In this climate better the worst Dem than the best Rep. Plus no to a ban on gay marriage and no to the death penalty.
For the second election in a row, straight Democratic ticket.
I haven’t voted yet, but I will be voting straight Democratic.
I got to vote for Jim McDermott, the tenth most liberal representative in the House. Frankly I’m surprised he’s rated that low.
Other than that, Dems all the way, “yes” on some public transportation issues, “yes” to requiring investment in clean energy, and “no” to estate tax repeal and putting strip mines in people’s back yards.
I voted Green for Public Regulatory Commission.
(Energy and Infrastructure).
I voted Repbulican for auditor. Too much corruption in the Dem run state government for my taste.
I did not vote in the Governor’s race. Richardson will win. See above, for the reason I withheld my vote for him.
I did not vote in the Senatorial race. Bingaman will win, but he is not a strong leader for progressive values. He did not stand up against Alito when it mattered. He did not stand up against the military tribunal bill when it mattered. He voted with Bush about 50% of the time.
Good morning!
My ballot was in the mail eight days ago. Thank God! It’s been raining heavily here, multiple areas are flooded.
This is how I voted…
Oregon Governor – Ted Kulongoski
Rep for Congress, 1st District – David Wu
Rep for State Congress – Tobias Read
YES on Measure 44 – allows any Oregon resident without prescription drug coverage to participate in the Oregon Drug Prescription Program
Good luck to all!
Dropped mine in the official box at the branch library near me yesterday. I’m in Mitch Greenlick’s district, though.
Now we wait and see if we can get rid of that witch Karen Minnis.
Did you know that David Wu crossed over and voted yea on the roll call for Medicare D, which only passed by 3 votes?
Yay!!! I voted the same as you did.
I also supported the schools and libraries and a person’s right to decide on their body’s medical needs with regard to pregnancy.
Biggi came to my door a few weeks back… boy did he get an earful from me and my daughter. The man is a pathetic moron.
I’m proud to vote as a full American citizen, continuing from what my grandparents could or could not do in segregationist-era New Orleans, Louisiana.
Now in Madison, WI, I voted Straight Dem Ticket, including:
Jim Doyle, gov
Barbara Lawton, lt gov
Tammy Baldwin, house
Kathleen Falk, atty gen
Then I turned over my ballot and voted NO against the constitutional amendment to discriminate against gay and unmarried couples in this state.
Remember to turn over your ballots in Wisconsin! Vote NO against the marriage amendment!
because I couldn’t trust to turn it in via the mail.
because I can’t trust to hand it to the people under those tents outside the Registrar’s office in the drive thru lane.
I’m walking my ballot in because it’s the only thing I can do.
I have no faith that my vote will be recorded correctly or legitimately.
I do because I still vote on old style lever action machines.
But for those voting on Diebold, etc. I’m very worried.
I refuse to use Diebold ATM’s at stores. I even complain to the stores about them saying if they trust such a company then I can’t support their stores.
As to voting… even IF you write it in (I don’t know about the leverage ones)… the machines used to COUNT the votes are fixed.
was reporting on all the voter fraud, supression going on in the early elections. It’s all so outrageous and sickening.
With Bush in FLA and Cheney off shooting his guns in Texas, I expected a “terra attack” to happen this morning.
Unless he’s changed his plans suddenly, isn’t Cheney here in SoDak today shooting poor defenseless pheasants (and possibly his hunting partners)? Just another reason I was glad to vote early – wouldn’t want to be out in the open when Cheney’s in state hunting…
oh… but he is out hunting… ACK.
ACK is right. Apparently he hunted here last time around, too (2004, I guess) -somewhere outside of Pierre.
I sent in my ballot last week, and pretty much voted a straight D ticket, though I still feel it’s time we rounded up a younger, more progressive candidate to beat Leonard “Blue Dog” Boswell in a primary in 2008. Not a bad man, but way past his prime and too cautious for my tastes.
Chet Culver for Gov, of course … and indications appear to be that he will beat the evil Jim Nussle, who will also lose his house seat in the Eastern part of the state. Time to get the Western half to wake up and get rid of nutjob Steve King, though I’m shut out of that district.
Neither Senator up for re-election, though taking out whiny ass Grassley should be a state party priority in 2010!
Hoping against hope to be celebrating rather than “waking” tonight as we watch the returns …
Waiting a few hours to vote, but I will be casting a ballot for Dianne Feinstein (CA-Sen) and future chairman of the House Govt. Reform Committe Henry Waxman (CA-30). Wooo!!!!
Also, lest I forget, Phil Angelides (CA-Gov), but that’s, well, you know.
In Massachusetts
Gov – Deval Patrick (D)
US Senator – Ted Kennedy (D)
Congress – Marty Meehan (D)
Sec of State – Jill Stein (Green)
State Senator – Susan Fargo (D)
Gov Council – Jerome B. Lerman (write in, my former neighbor)
State Representative – my wife (write in)
Also Massachusetts
Gov – Deval Patrick (D)
US Senator – Ted Kennedy (D)
Congress – Barney Frand (D)
Yes on Question 3 to expand child care.
This brother interests me. Very little about him except for the nitwits Blackwell, Steele, and Swann who are running.
Vote in Missoura/ Missouri depending on how long you lived here:
D-Clare McKaskill (Senate)(Adios Jim Talent)
D-(not Sam Graves) (Congress)
Anyone else who’s last name was DEM..And I used a paper ballot.
Also Missouri —
Senate — Dem (McCaskill)
State Auditor — Dem (Montee)
3d Congressional — Dem (Carnahan)
State Senate — Dem (Jeff Smith -GREAT Candidate!)
State Rep — Dem (Kratke)
Collector of Revenue — Green
Recorder of Deeds — Green
License Collector — Dem
Clerk of Circuit Court — skipped
Voted “yes” on judge retention for all.
Amendment 2 (stem cell) — yes
Amendment 3 (tobacco tax) — yes
Prop. B — Increase Minimum wage — yes.
I won’t go into all the other amendments much less all the city charter amendments.
Turnout in my precinct was strong this morning. It looked to be about as big as a presidential year. Lines were moving though. Many people choosing paper optical scan ballots so they didn’t have to wait in line for machines. Election worker told me they had a 10 minute delay when the polls opened because touch screen machines wouldn’t work.
registered in MI, sent in my abs. ballot last week. for the first time ever, i voted a straight dem ticket. normally i try to find a green to vote for, someone at the local level. but this year the need for unity felt too important and so i went with the party all the way.
also voted against the hate amd in MI, the anti-affirmative action bill. voted in favor of some local issues; support for increased funding for schools and zoos and the like.
This evening in DC, a straight-party vote for the DCSG. And a vote for my incumbent ANC rep, regardless of party, because he managed to get my trash pick-up straightened out (now that’s constituent service!).
I just voted.
Big Ed Rendell for Governor
Not Rickey for Senate
Chakah Fattah for da Hizzah.
I mailed my early ballot last Thursday.
Senate – not Kyl
House – Raúl Grijalva (AZ-07)
Gov – Janet Napolitano
SOS – Israel Torres
AG – Terry Goddard
Super. Public Instruction – Jason Williams
State Sen – Charlene Pesquiera
Voted HELL NO on all the Minutemen Propositions, English-Only BS, the Civil Union Destruction Initiative and an Eminent Domain Nightmare. Voted Yes on a minimum-wage increase, increased funding for childhood education and a smoking ban (sorry BooMan), among other things.
fucking fascist 😉
the upside is, we have a decent climate for patio-dwelling so you can clog your lungs outside year-round – or join a Native American religion and commune with the peyote. 😉
didn’t vote for the smoking ban..but did vote to increase the cigarette tax by .80 cents per pack.
thanks. I’ll be sure to vote for higher property taxes for you.
I’d be delighted to have my property taxes raised.
Here I CA I get to vote to increase the cigarette tax by $2.60 a pack. I win!
NY 01
Howie Hawkins-Senate G
Timothy Bishop-House D
Malachy McCourt-Gov G
Alison Duncan-Lt Gov G
Alan Hevesi-Comp D
Rachel Triechler-AG G
Missed the opportunity to vote via trusty lever-machine up in the rural Catskills, but sent in my absentee ballot last week.
Swore to myself that I’d never give Hil another vote after the IWR; went with Hankins (Green) for Senate.
My Democratic representative, Maurice Hinchey, ran unopposed, would’ve gotten my vote anyway.
and a straight Dem ticket for state offices, including Debra Bowen who is the voters’ hope for Sec. of State.
Grimly voted no on Prop. 85, another parental notification for abortion bill that narrowly failed less than a year ago. These anti-women people don’t give up easily. This one’s polling too close to call. I’ve been canvassing and, last weekend, GOTV for the anti-85 campaign and have been heartened by the response. The good thing about the inundation of ballot initiatives in California is that people tend to vote no if they’re fed up.
Hey LL. I just voted myself in CA. I went pretty much a straight Democratic line, except it will be a cold day in hell before I vote for DiFi. I wrote in Cindy Sheehan.
I did have the pleasure of voting for Barbara Lee and Debra Bowen.
We had paper ballots this time with a Sequoia Reader device. I was most happy to see that, even though the ballot was absolutely huge with a gazillion referendums.
Hi Kama! It’s funny, I voted for DiFi this morning for the first time ever. My pen was on a Democratic roll, I was in a hurry and just thought what the heck. heh.
I fibbed a little. Straight Dem in Cook County except for one local office. Maybe I’ll report it later. 🙂
I won’t be voting until after work, but when I do, I’ll be voting for Ed Rendell. As for Casey and the spoiled sack of spent lard who passes himself off as my Rep, I’m not sure whether I’ll bother with writing something in or just leaving them blank. I’m fairly certain that my wife is voting for Casey, so we’ll have one Casey vote from the house.
I used to vote on two basic principles, candidates that I actually liked, no matter what their party or third party candidates because I think we could really use some Greens and Libertarians to keep the big two honest.
I voted party line Democrat. Before the other parties can have a chance, we need to get back to at least a two party system.
Given the way the Republicans have ruined the country, I will never vote for another republican. Even if they are personally a good republican, having them in power gives extra power to those asshats that never seemed to actually read the constitution (or their precious bibles for that matter)
I REALLY hated voting for Maria Cantwell. Given the choices, I probably would have voted for the Libertarian if the Dems didn’t need every vote possible.
Even in the local races where there was a republican running unopposed, I wrote in various comedians that have run for president in the past.
In Connecticut, I voted straight Democratic except for Lamont. Turnout in the state was considered moderate downstate, and light to moderate upstate, but picking up. Lamont voted in Greenwich, and Lieberman in New Haven. Ct. is a late voting state, and the attorney general says turnout maybe at record levels, around 60%. Take what you will from that.
well, if Lieberman wins at least one BT member will be happy.
Bowers says that turnout is very high in CT which would be very good news for all the Dem candidates, including Lamont.
And that’s good enough for me.
how did the ballot look? I hear the Lieberman folks have placed people with sandwich boards out in front of the polls to help explain his ballot position.
In my polling place, they didn’t do that, but Joe made a video about his position on the ballot, and he also made up lawn signs that I saw to see his ballot position.
If turnout is high, that means that people in those tight districts are coming out to vote. I was talking to one of my good friends, and he doesn’t see the heavy turnout as of yet that Bowers sees. Course I never had that much faith in Bowers anyway.
Straight Democratic down the ticket here – Rendell, Casey, and Fattah at the top. I voted against the Gulf War and civil service preference ballot initiatives and voted for the other Philly-wide one (regarding giving aid to minority and women-owned businesses, IIRC).
I voted for Spitzer, then I voted Green for the other statewide offices. I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for Hillary, Hevesi, and Cuomo.
I then voted straight Democratic on the rest of the ballot, only on the Working Families line. They need the votes a lot more than do the Dems.
Absolutely. I went with the WFP line for Dems unless I voted Green (against Hevesi & Cuomo along with Clinton). Iirc, Spitzer actually pulled his endorsement for Hevesi.
In Illinois, straight Dem for everything but governor, which will probably be for the Green.
Many voters were in the office upset that they hadn’t yet received their ballots. Oh oh.
I refused to hand in my ballot at the drive thru… they understood completely.
David Wu – he’s the only one who stood on the floor and railed against the Military Commissions Act and the only one to call me back after I had called his office in tears and rage. He remembered seeing CodePink Portland in the stands too cheering him on.
I also voted against the measure to make teenage girls get permission from their parents before they can make a decision about what to do if they are pregnant.
in a bit, but will vote straight ticket (may leave DiFi blank, though at least she’s been strongly against Bush’s SCOTUS nominees).
Key issues: NO on abortion notification (great ad: “Think outside your bubble”), YES on cigarette tax and oil tax, and YES on a local measure to limit development in rural parts of the county…I’m not in the mood to create any more “transit dead zones”, thank you very much…
I’m just wondering if all those who voted to penalize smokers would agree to a $3.00 tax on chocolate bars or the like. After all, obesity is one of the greatest health threats today.
I would have voted for a .50 tax to go to stop smoking programs, but a $3 tax is so over the top.
a tax on junk food — revenues could go towards paying for universal healthcare. (And you’ve seen me — I ain’t exactly skinny…)
For me it’s personal…I’ve lost both parents, and almost lost my only brother, to smoking-related complications. I’d prefer the tax be leveled directly on the tobacco companies (this would be a true “death tax” unlike the estate tax), but if it gets a few people to quit smoking, I’ll be pleased. (And I want you around for that awesome daughter of yours for quite a while, kid… 🙂 )
Agreed, I went back and forth on that one but ended up voting no. There should be higher taxes on the tobacco companies not the lower-income people who tend to smoke the most, statistically speaking.
I voted absentee weeks ago, straight dem. I refuse to vote for city council because they claim to be nonpartisan and will not reveal what party they belong to. Other than that straight dem here in the CA-50th….go Francine Busby.
I wasn’t going to say anything but after reading through the comments twice I just have to. Who in the hell didn’t excercise their right to vote. I don’t even care who you voted for, just vote. You may not have the right if this corrupt administration continues to dismantel the constitution. Sorry, just had to get that offf my chest!
To all the others here, thank you for all you do not just today by voting but everyday. May it be protesting, writing LTEs, doing GOTV work, writing here, etc. You all are making the change happen.
for many reasons:
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt this time around… 🙂
That could well be. Guess I am more of a cynic. Sorry, we have enough negativity going on without me adding to it. Have a great day. Go Dems!
[x] Sen Conrad (D)
[x] Rep Pomeroy (D)
but I’m waiting for the right opportunity to give him a kick in the butt on his MCA vote.
[x] and Dem-NPL for all other state offices; atty gen, ag commissioner, PSC commissioner, Sec of State, Ins commissioner, etc
I voted here in Connecticut a straight Dem ticket (no Joe) except for Registrar of Voters (R) who is a personal friend of mine. The vote according to her has been steady.
It is time TN came in here….;o)
I went to vote about 1/2 hour ago and it was just myself and one other lady voting. Of course, I live in a small rural area of which ppl work all the time. I happen to have today off…yea..That is a first too!..so I suppose more will show up later on after work.
I voted straight dem ticket. I held my nose and voted for Ford. I really do not like him or my rep, but had to, for no one else was running that I knew. There has not been much politicking going on around , in my area of the state. NOt many signs in the yards. But in town there is more Ford than Corker…and this is republican turf. I am surprised!..plus we are in the buckle of the bible belt. What can I say….
I am of course an independent, but lean heavily democratic. I wished we had more independent ppl running. I too, feel it would make for a much more interesting race of the D’s and R’s.
Anyhow, I am glad y ou all went to vote. I broke all my rules and voted for the first and only time on a non-verifiable paper trail machine. This makes me very nervous. I told them of my displeasure on this as well. Anyhow, I am done. I hope I took someone’s vote away from them by voting for Ford…;o)
Why, thank you, Booman..you make me proud….;o) hugs
Don’t forget that exit polls are unreliable.
I really hate to be a wet blanket, but I have to say, be careful how you frame things…
So you’re not invisible after all… surprised you remembered your login 😉
Indeed. And some of the snarkier comments have almost drawn me out of my shell. ahem But I know better to stick my hand into the fire. Usually.
I just voted in the PA 16th. The election chief was going to offer paper ballots by default, and I believe one could only use the electronic machines if one requested. When I got there, I think the machines were not working at all and everyone voted paper ballot. I even got a receipt, which is very good.
Anyway, I voted a straight Dem ticket except for the PA Senate race where I wrote in Chuck Pennachio. Does that count as a third party vote since Casey is only a DINO to begin with???
Maria Cantwell, WA Sen.
Kevin VanDewege, State Rep.
Against WA prop 933 and repeal of Paris Hilton tax, for green energy.
I know some liberal locals who could not bring themselves to vote for Maria and went Green instead. When will people learn that in a winner-take-all two-party system a third-party protest vote is worthy of a Darwin Award
I just made my first party-line vote. I used to “vote for the candidate, not for the party”. My choices have always tended Democratic, but there have been exceptions. This is not the first year I voted for all Democrats, but it is the first year I consciously and with malice aforethought voted for every Democrat on the ballot. Six years of Republican one-party rule has made me a partisan.
I vote in a small rural precinct in a neon county in a red state. I usually go by on the way home from work around 4:00 PM. I’m usually around number forty-something to vote. I’ve gone through the same banter with the same election workers for years. It’s early yet, things will pick up as folks get off work. Today I’m home sick* so I went in around 2:30. I was number 87. Now a good turnout in my precinct is not necessarily good news for Democrats, but I take it as a good sign for the country.
* Urinary tract infection. Fever and chills and my Everything hurts. I’ve already joked about anxiety about the election leading to physical illness. I don’t really think there’s any connection, but I find the timing at least as curious as Saddam’s verdict and sentence.
please get well soon. hugs and try drinking some cranberry juice. just push the fluids, if not please take good care.
Thank you, Brenda. My better half is a born momcat. She’s already working on me with the cranberry juice. hugs back
Maryland….
Straight Dem, most of whom I can even feel good about, except for Al Wynn. He will win anyway… I confess I wrote in Donna Edwards (who came within a squeak of beating him in the primary). The good news is that the Diebold machines are working smoothly, and there have not been any snafus or serious problems that I’ve heard of so far.
Hoping my favorite County Council candidate wins… we need voices on the council who aren’t tied into the developers by the purse strings. Local issues count too — and we’re seeing a strong grassroots organization developing here that will only continue to grow.
Then I went and worked phone banks for a few hours. Overall, sounded like a good turnout this morning, based on the people I talked to.
Menendez – He voted for torture, but who am I going to vote for? Kean, no way. Besides, Menendez answered my email about the Military Commissions Bill with a four page letter – the first intelligent letter (read, non-template-letter) I’ve received from someone who represents me.
Aronsohn – don’t really know him, but Scott Garret is a disgrace.
County Dems = yes
My town has been a Republican town for years, but in the last three years a coalition party has grown up and they’ve won three seats on council. Two more running today. Voted for ’em. (Also did their campaign website.)
Being a Dem in a Repub town, I’ve had twenty years experience with one party rule. Don’t recommend it.
Off to a Moveon Phone Party.
Pennsylvania:
Governor: Rendell
Senator: Casey
U.S.Rep: 6th district: Lois Murphy
State House Rep dist 167: Anne Crowley
Go Dems!
Ohio–straight Democratic ticket absentee ballot hand-delivered to the BOE.
I voted for every Green I could, as I am a Green Party member here in New York. I had no choice but to vote for Charles Rangel, (ooohhhh — tough choice!) and other State Dems for Assembly and Senate.
I felt good. We have the reliable mechanical voting machines, so I didn’t have to worry about blowing my stack and being arrested at the polls for screaming at the top of my lungs when the machine fucked with my votes.
