We have new Books with Buzz for your holiday shopping pleasure. I have no idea why Baptists are buying advertising here, but if they save you soul, it’s all good. On a sourer note, Jose Padilla is a shell of a human being, thanks to his harsh treatment at the hands of his captors. I wonder what John McCain thinks?
Have you finished your holiday shopping?
i finished last week…every card is signed, every gift is wrapped and i have extras in case i forgot someone.
this year i made 10 bottles of homemade limoncello for all the grown ups on my list (except my sister who would be offended if i gave her alcohol)…she is getting a book.
my boyfriend and i arent giving each other gifts this year…we are going to a bed and breakfast that has its own dungeon up the poconos in jan for a long relaxing weekend.
sunday night im heading to the astral plane in philly for a kinky vampire victorian christmas party…i have no idea what that means but we are getting all dressed up as christmas demons (boyfriend is actually a demon doggie….so cute with his little red feather wings and matching doggie collar)…and we have horns and fangs too…its very exciting.
sound more fun than mine, Anna? Oh wait, because they are… 😉
Still got to shop — going relatively low-key this year. Pretty much know what we’re getting the in-laws; a couple of battery-operated lanterns so they’ll have them on hand in case of earthquake/other emergency, plus I’m burning a CD of my favorite Christmas music from my iTunes collection. And getting a bottle of Scotch for the bro-in-law; he loves him some single-malt.
Spouse and I already have our Big Gifts (his and hers Sharks jerseys — wore them for the first time Tuesday when we got together with our hockey group to watch the game); need to pick up something small — he could use a new keychain, maybe a wallet. He’s a PITA to shop for, because he doesn’t need clothes…
it doesn’t sound like you are taking the war on Christmas seriously at all.
I wonder what John McCain thinks?
McCain and his pocket Pal, Lieberman undoubtedly approve. They and John Ashcroft being so moral and all.
Besides the ‘govenment’ vehemently denies any mistreatmet….
Unfortunately I’m heading out to the funeral of a long time family friend and someone who was instrumental in me getting my first boat and making me as artistically capable as I am. He died this week of an aggresive brain cancer. Three months. Just like that.
When you guys wake up tomorrow, take a second…or two to enjoy the sunrise. I know I will…
Peace
for your loss. Brain cancer is so fast. May he rest in Peace.I have been watching the sunsets more again. They are right in front of me and most the time I am too engrossed in the daily news to enjoy them. No wonder I am angry all the time. Thanks for the reminder dear one.
Thank you Leezy :o)
Spent two hours perusing Pulitzer prizewinning photos gathered into an exhibit by the Newseum. They were at the Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda, Illinois. Very heart-rending, many famous military incidents, several horrific hotel fires, balanced to a degree by heroic rescues.
Each enlargement was described in a few words by the photographer, usually mentioning how they were able to take the shot. I held off on examining the Joseph Pulitzer biography in the gift shop, but the impact of his bequeath is important enough that I plan to see if our library has a copy.
One of the themes that weave through the exhibit is the frequency of vicious attacks on lone Negroes – a football player suffers a broken jaw by Oklahoma players who dislike blacks; James Meredith is singled out by a gunman; a black man in Boston is attacked with the American flag on a flagpole. Ganging up…that’s the sorry result.
