I’m in Oklahoma, and while I’m not sharing much of the celebrating today because I’m not a Dem, it was fantastic to see a woman at the Speaker’s podium. And nice to know that the apalling Sen. Inhofe will not be chairing Environment anymore. Ironically, a really good advance for Oklahoma!

I hope you’ll share something about the science blogging conference with us in a diary or two. I seriously considered attending myself. I don’t have a science blog, but I keep up with science news across the spectrum from microbiology to cosmology, so I read lots of science blogs.

However, the highlight for me was that Rep. Brad Miller showed up last night at the happy hour/dinner/happy hour after the meeting. I got to chat with him for awhile as he was leaving, about the Senate in 2008, his new assignments, and much more.
