It’s getting hot in here. So…
The field for the Democratic presidential nomination got still more crowded this morning, with New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson announcing he will take the first step in a run for the White House by forming a presidential exploratory committee. Richardson followed the announcement with an exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.”
Any supporters out there? Anyone? Helloooooo?
Hello is right. Will anyone notice this beyond political junkies and his home state constituents?
gee, wonder if THIS is what he’s really thinking?
“hey, white guys, if one of you wins, I’m the minority veep that YOU need!”
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
If I was not an avid reader of the left blogosphere, I would probably have to form an exploratory committee to figure out who the hell this guy is.
Since I am, I guess from what I’ve read the guy will be one of the most qualified people running, and the two biggest knocks against him are that nobody knows him and he’s carrying a few extra pounds.
Unless they attempt to spin his association with goings on at Roswell. (And, yes, I knew about this because I have been there.)
Richardson is the Guinness holder for shaking hands.
Done deal! Based on this evidence he’s now officially my guy ;o)
Bush reaching out to his real base :o)
I am excited, and I eagerly await press releases. After watching Obama’s video, which I detest, I am ready to listen to Edwards, Clinton and Richardson.
Bill Richardson…. a better candidate than Tom Vilsack
that sums him up perfectly.
I won’t vote for a man who treated a man the way Richardson treated Wen Ho Lee, actions pursued for purely political reasons:
George on This Week this morning and I was pleasantly surprised. The man knows how to govern, has been a superior diplomat over the years, including ambassador to the UN. He is bright, articulate and funny. I might be willing to give him a chance. I mean, had anyone heard of Clinton in 92?
Richardson is a pretty good guy — though he’s certainly not my first choice — and he would make a good president. He has actual foreign policy experience, unlike most of the Democratic field.
Too bad he doesn’t have a chance in hell.
candidates this year – regardless of whether I would want to vote for any of them, I think it is super that they CAN jump into a race that requires megabucks. I think it will demonstrate whether or not WE, the American people, can deal with this kind of diversity and act like grownups! (And I’m betting we have some sorry moments, too, such as the importance of Obama’s middle name and his education in, gasp, wheeze, another religion!!!!
Might want to read Steve Clemons post on BR entering the race.
