I’m LMAO.
In her statement, she [Ms. Clinton] also called for “bold but practical changes” in national policy, a four-word formulation that her advisers said was carefully chosen, given that she has sought to portray herself as both a pragmatist and someone who thinks big.
Here’s some advice. Try less hard.
I will admit I was not and am not yet a supporter of Hillary. But when I compare her message and her video with those of Obama, I must say she is more engaging, more personable, much more blunt and much more direct. Obama was engaging in classic triangulation, perhaps because he does not know the difference between a primary and a general election, while Clinton makes direct and sardonic references to Bush. Her online, interactive component is also much more engaging than Obama’s announcement. I know many here and elsewhere are not supporters of Hillary, but I am willing to give her a chance. Perhaps she will surprise us in this primary.
Do you plan on participating in any of her online video conversations? I want to witness at least one. But I must say my reaction to her video was really positive, while that of Obama really annoyed me. “I ask you for your prayers,” he says. Is that not both selfish and sanctimonious? And why does he emphasize, in his meticulously paced intonation, the word “hope?” Vague, and nothing else. At least Hillary discusses women’s rights.
Did she say that while wearing a brown suit?
Omigod, The Sunday Times, UK has this headline:
Hillary runs for the White House as `new Thatcher’
The positioning is on – ‘Hillary as the new Iron Lady.’. First let’s note The Times, UK IS a Murdock property. Murdock is Hillary’s new friend…who has done a fair bit of fund raising for her.
Well, Terry I got a news flash for you. Packaging Hillary as the Iron Lady Thatcher just lost her several football stadiums of voters. Somewhere in the comments yesterday I read where Hillary was described as a conservative. How true.
I also read somewhere yesterday in my reading about hilary that a label that could be assigned to her or even one she might want is ‘progressive tradionalist’…WTF….and a double yuck on that sorry ass little phrase..is that kinda like ‘compassionate conservative’? Means absolutely nothing except you have a mouth full of crap when you say it.
I always liked Hillary Clinton and stuck up for her when she was First Lady but she has scared me more and more since she started out on her own political career. I tried to stay loyal, but she really turned me off — way off — when she supported the war in Iraq. All along it seems like she has been playing politics and will say or do anything to position herself for the presidency, and I just don’t know where she stands on the real issues anymore.
I got reamed on Kos for saying this, but I will say again that I don’t think mainstream America is ready to elect a woman president and they are not ready to elect an African American with a funny name that sounds like “Osama.”
We should just never underestimate the stupidity and short-sightedness of the American people, look who has been in the WH since 2000 — and he never even got elected… which mainstream America did nothing about and never really seemed to mind.
I am a woman and proud to be a feminist and yes I campaigned for Jesse Jackson in 1988!!!
So I am far from being a racist or a sexist, but I predict that a lot of the people who funded Nader will be rushing to fund Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the same reasons.
Sad, but I think this is the truth and we really need to be bold but practical and run someone who is truly electable if we want to win back the WH in 2008.
Yup, I’m always getting in trouble for talking about the elephant in the middle of the room, though people have remarked on my ability to be pretty tactful about it!
Enough of these “weathervane” candidates! I can tell as well as the next one which way the wind is blowing, and I don’t need HRC to stick her triangulating finger up to tell me what’s up. As for me, I am planning to do as much as I can to make sure she gets trounced here in less than 1 year at the caucuses. Unless Feingold changes his mind, I’m all Edwards all the time up to and including caucus night. The whole “dynasty” issue aside, HRC is yesterday’s tomatoes (as I actually heard Tweety say the other night in reference to someone else) and I prefer fresh ones for my salsa.
If we want a woman to run, there are many more who could carry the banner much better than HRC, and until that time, I’m sticking with the white guy. Nope, not a sexist here, nor an anti-feminist, just a realist. She can stay in the senate, fine, but she will never get my vote… either in the caucus nor the general. I’ll sit that one out, I loathe her that much.
I guess I don’t really hate HRC, but one thing that increases my suspicion of her is the fact that my red hot neo-con militaristic dyed-in-the-wool Republican brother-in-law voted for her last fall!!!! (He lives in NY…)
Scary….
I’ve got some word formulations she could carefully consider……
Single payer health care
Out of Iraq Now
Raise taxes on Rich(and not just rich little)
Take care of New Orleans
Create new jobs Now
Global Warming-say it 4 times
Sanctity of life-for all.
And also Hilary-another 4 word formulation might be..”Watch Out For Edwards’…..that’s who I’m voting for so far.
Have to agree with you ChocolateInk
John Edwards For President in 2008
