Is it possible to mistreat our soldiers any more than the Bush Administration has already?
I must say I was very shocked when some heads rolled by order of our new SecDef Gates. I guess I have become so accustomed of total inaction by Rumsfeld, I was whiplashed when Gates took what I believe to be minor action. Everyone in authority who visited Building 18 when it was in such horrid conditions should be fired if civilian or dishonorable discharged if commissioned. There is NOT ONE EXCUSE that can be made to explain why severely wounded soldiers were forced to live in such squalor here in the United States.
Washington, DC is not some backwater, third-world, battle-front shit hole. It is the capital of our Nation.
I guess the tarnish that encapsulates the White House extends everywhere these days.
Murtha comes to mind, and all the other elected/appointed officials who profess their commitment to the soldiers and make a point of loudly proclaiming how sad they are are when they make their weekly visit to Walter Reed…um…they must be visiting a different facility….perhaps in Bizarro World…
or maybe somebody’s been lying.
nothing about this passes the smell test..lets see who testifies next week in front of Waxman’s Committee

our government is seriously dysfunctional.
firing a few people over this is meaningless– if indeed the government is serious about privatizing health care for our veterans. it can’t work because as other diarists have pointed out, privatization means the attrition of or firing of good, experienced staff members which are replaced by less experienced, not as well paid staff– and the quality of service goes down.
