It’s going pretty well.  There are a LOT more lurkers than commenters.  I think it’s hard for most people to open up about such personal issues.

It’s made a HUGE difference in my life, though.  I’m sure I’d have gained back all the weight I lost if I didn’t have my responsibilities there.

Did you see my question on the open thread?

yeah, I did. jpol has been working on that along with Chuck Pennacchio.  I am not up on it.

I’m thinking about moving there if it happens

Yeh, me and how many others?

I think it (universal health care) rejuvenate the small towns in first few states to (successfully) implement it.

I’m in Kansas.  We’ve got a good governor — Sebelius.  But a hopeless legislature.

After April we’ll be in a position to move if we want. Since I have a sister in New York and another one in Mclean, Virginia, Pennsylvania would have other attractions besides health care.  Actually QUITE a few.

Do you have links to anything jpol’s done? I’m not finding anything much.

Subject: What to do at this time to advance single-payer universal healthcare (SB 300)

            Dear Friend:

In response to the frequently asked question about ‘things to do’ in support of the “Family and Business Healthcare Security Act of 2007,” here’s what we now need:

            1. Contributions ($25, 50, 100) to keep up our tremendous momentum — on-line or off-line.  And link others to our web site: http://www.helpfundpa.com and encourage them to do the same.
            2. Turnout at our Feb 27th (10-Noon) Harrisburg presentation of the “Family and Business Healthcare Securtiy Act of 2007” before Democratic legislators.  We want to pack the House Caucus room with more that a hundred supporters to show our grassroots strength to party leaders and legislative members and the press.  More details on the site.
            3. Citizen delegations to visit local reps.  Please keep me in the loop on this activity, especially, as coordination and disciplined messaging in vital to our success.
            4. Host and/or attend a healthcare house party on (or about) March 22: teleconfernce, education, grassroots organizing, social gathering, pot luck, fund raiser.
            5. Write letters and op-eds speaking to the “Family and Business Healthcare Security Act of 2007”: see site for suggested talking points.
            6. Participate/recruit others to participate in proposed statewide organizing conference in State College in April (TBA shortly).

Thanks to so many of you, we now have 14 Senate and House members (and counting) ready to lead the fight for single-payer universal healthcare!  That compares with one House and one Senate member at the outset of the last legislative session.  SB 300 is now in the hopper, having been introduced by Sen Jim Ferlo last week.  The House bill will be introduced in early March when we have all our “ducks in a row.”  Everyday brings new opportunities and more good news for our campaign.

Thanks and best for your passion, engagement and help — at all levels.  Together we are winning universal single-payer healthcare for all Pennsylvanians — and, thereby, modeling the same for our nation.  And, in the process, we’re changing the way politics is done in Harrisburg and other centers of power and decision-making.

            Yours in solidarity,

            Chuck

            Hi CabinGirl!

I’m fine, how about you?  I have FINALLY lost just about all that weight I started gaining last September (at one point I gained 15 pounds — I’ve still got 3 pounds to go)

Do you think the single-payer plan is likely to pass?  I’m not kidding about moving if it does.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on June 17, 2007 at 11:26 am

            Yay for katiebird!

I’m doing fine, looking forward to the official end of the school year tomorrow, thinking about some summer side  trips with the kids and stuff.

Regarding single-payer, I would love for it to pass, but I’m (hangs head in shame) not very familiar with how the idea has been received statewide.

One thing I never did, which I think is a good idea, is why not fed-x or ship some of the stuff to where you’re going.  You would be a lot more sure of it getting there than being lost in baggage.

Well, at last year’s arrival in Oslo, we were 2 suitcases short (out of 3) – though they turned up the next day.

I made it up as joke based on the Unix fondness for making program names that were acronyms that starting with “YA” for “Yet Another”

And a happy YAHDBV (yet another hump day before vacation) to you.

but I don’t think you got ours since it literally rained all around us. The woods are so dried out it already looks like August around here.

It was looking the same way here until yesterday.  We’ve still got Jul and Aug to go, so this was just a small respite.  We’re still in extreme drought here.

I don’t think it’s extreme yet but most of Indiana hasn’t had significant rain for about 7 weeks. Farmers are really hurting.

It’s like I’ve said before, I don’t want to see them, but the only thing that will help us this year is hurricanes.  Wish we could get the rain without the damage they would cause.

Maybe some of that rain that Texas is getting will head your way.

I’m off to have breakfast and then go walk. See ya later.

Good morning, CG!  He’s actually been okay.  Today will be the real test, the kids are taking a trip to a place with various games and rollerskating.  I’d better leave my cell phone on.  😉

How are the cabin boys doing?

I hope everything goes well today.  Is it a large group of kids?

The CBs are fine: CBtE has been working around here and at his gram’s house, and CBtY HAs been enjoying the chance to sleep in and read.  They’re off to rock-climbing and paddling camp next week.

It is a fairly large group, don’t know exactly how many.  Rock climbing sounds great.

Looks like the second shift has arrived.

swimmer’s last day today, young asklet tomorrow. I have 3 days to go.
My oldest sister/bil & 3 kids fly through here on their way to a Florida-vacation on Friday/Saturday – and then we’re off for Oslo on Saturday night.
        Vacation can’t come soon enough.

Sounds like you do have a busy day.  Don’t get to hot when you’re outside and remember to slack when possible.
