The election of John Edwards, Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee would signal that America is fed up with the world and not only wishes to pull up its draw bridges but is serious of trying to do so. Nothing would scare friends or foes more which means that nothing would be resented more. Expect anti-Americanism to reach new heights. Remember that nothing infuriates children more than a lack of parental attention.
Think about that one for a little while. The world is full of children begging for American attention. That’s how a lot of these think. Read the rest, it gets worse. Check out a companion piece from Walter Russell Read. Can you make sense of it?
by invading Iraq Bush was trying to avoid the anti-Americanism which would have resulted from NOT doing so.
I see it all clearly now.
These folks really do live in an evil parallel universe, don’t they? Have they ever been out of the country or ever had a frank conversation with anyone foreign? Whew!
quite the opposite. Apparently the showdown at Bali was not given much coverage in LSM. Ms. Klinghoffer must have missed the showdown wherein the U.S. delegation was shamed. She needs to catch up with the new realities unfolding – American irrelevance not anti-Americanism:
“America is no longer the world’s lone superpower….America now is the world’s largest borrower, and China the biggest creditor nation.”
Hyperpower to world disorder
events in 2008 will affirm.
So they hate us if we intervene and if we don’t: a lose/lose situation. That’s not only thinking outside the box, it’s outside the boundaries of common sense.
Translation:
“Voting Huckabee, Edwards, or Ron Paul into office would not only piss off America’s elite, but the elites of the rest of the world too. It would signal that the American people want to pick a fight with the globalization of the world’s economy, and these silly, hopelessly romantic idiots aren’t going to fuck this up for us. We’ll damn well crush them before we allow that to happen.”
I dunno, I kinda favor the idea of allowing foreign countries a vote in who gets to be President here. They could all get together and be collectively worth 10 electoral votes or so. Of course, I say that because as a progressive, I feel that the citizens of the rest of the world are on our side. On 15 Feb 03, we anti-Iraq War protesters came out in force all over the world. The establishment here was besotted with the oh-so-manly and oh-so-credible Colin Powell and therefore didn’t give us dirty effin’ hippies any serious media space to present our counter-arguments, but the alternative media (It was called at the time) had shown within a week of Powell’s speech that, as the saying goes, “He was so full of it, his eyes were turning brown!”
If the president is the leader of the free world, maybe the entire free world should have a say in chosing him. Interesting side effect to putting our nose in every one’s business.
