There is about two inches of snow here already. I hear the Packers-Giants game is going to be COOOOLD. About 3 degrees fahrenheit with snow flurries. The Giants have the better running game but Eli usually plays like crap in the cold.
What’s on your mind?
that temps are dropping now and that Mad City is going to turn into the Ice Capades Show.
Still have to wait for my bus. BRRRR!
Packer fever is running high, though. I hope that they have enough pantyhose ;D
About trying to do my sudoku puzzles in 83 degree weather? It’s January. I’m not trying to sweat here. We got plenty of dewy months April – Oct.
As far as games are concerned, the only games we have are which kid can be pushed further away with my butt. Sigh…and we have cable.
I remember those days well. Each day seemed an endless, mind-numbing succession of diapers, sippy cups, videos, tantrums. Yesterday my baby (#4) turned 18 officially ending my mothering and I couldn’t be sadder about it.
I dread the day.
Attention!! Attention!!
To God, Flying Spaghetti Monster, Mother Nature, aliens in UFO’s or whatever higher power might exist out there.
Please, please, please let the Chargers beat Belichick and Brady.
That’s all I need. Just that one little thing.
is not likely to be answered, and l’d like to see it.
they’re banged up bad, the weather and the pats will finish them off.
the giant’s are likely to be w/out their starting corners, favre pulls out an ugly one on a frozen field.
super bowl prediction: packers v. pats.
lTMF’sA
Ditto for me as far as the SB prediction.
Eli’s due for a bad game. It would go against convention for him to have a third decent game in a row.
Weather working against Giants and S.D both.
But they still gotta go through the motions, though I don’t see any surprises.
So I guess that we’ll be getting the snow next. Just as long as it comes in time to prevent me from going to my open space committee meeting.
My bed. I couldn’t fall asleep until about 4:30ish.
The Giants have the better running game?
Stick with politics.
Now rerun these stats for the second half of the season and see what comes up.
Everyone knows that Green Bay was relying, too heavily, on the passing game early on.
Second half? How about week 16 against Buffalo?
Att Yards TD’s
A. Bradshaw 17 151 1
B. Jacobs 25 143 2
Or week 15 against Buffalo?
B. Jacobs 25 130 0
Or week 13 against the Bears?
D. Ward 24 154 1
Give it a rest shergald, the Giants run the ball and it doesn’t matter who they hand it to. Their O-line dominates.
You have forgotten that these teams already met when GB’s running game was nonexistent, and yet they beat the Giants by twenty points, in spite of their O-line and touted up running game, and did so in New Jersey.
But you can dream, can’t you.
It’s gonna be a feast.
While Osi chews on Favre’s throwing arm, Antonio will lunch on the running back. The Pack is good, but then, the Giant’s D just shut down the 1st seed’s offense. And when Jacobs gets up a head of steam he’s a bulldozer who’ll take a toll on thier D. Remember, the Pack didn’t face Jacobs when they beat the Giants back then. Week 2 was then, this is now.
This is now, the temp is -13, the ground hard as a rock, and Grant is still basking in his 200 yard game. I am reminded here of the Polish winter expeditions to the major Himalayan peaks, including Everest, where only men of true grit survived.
And it will also be a day when only Kolbasi will be seen on the grills at Lambeau Field.
If the Giants lose to the Pack I’ll be happy for Favre and the city because I like him and I have a fondness for historical teams. They have a long history and many connections with the Giants. With the weather, it makes for a great throwback game, no matter who comes out on top.
But enough with the nostalgia.
Are you aware of where Grant came from, Shergald? He was traded to Green Bay…by the Giants. Traded, as good as he is, because of their extreme depth and talent at running back. His success in G.B. says more about the Giants’ talent at running back than it does about G.B.’s talent. They are deep, diverse, small, huge, powerful and speedy.
Secondly, as impressive as Grant’s gains were last week, it does not a trend make. And Seattle’s defense is not as good against the run as the G’s sleepper D. Tiki Barber’s last reg. season game last year was a 200+ yard achievment, but it did little for their playoff hopes.
Andrew is right also when he says that in week 2 the Giants D was still getting used to a new system. A system under Spagnuolo, who comes from Philly. No one can argue with the quality of Philly’s recent defensive teams.
So, in closing, Shergald, I think it’s true that a lot of Kielbasa will be grilled in Green Bay on Sunday. But on Sunday night they’ll be grillin’ G.B.’s coaches about why their vaunted defense coudn’t stop the short pass or the bruising Jacobs, and why a rag tag, no name secondary was able to relegate the great Favre and his improvisation to insignificance :o)
Peace
Okay, I’m convinced. I’ve switched back to the Redskins, next year’s NFC champs sans Gibbs, who spent his wad in the 80s.
When they met the Gmen defense was in shambles, not yet jelled around the new D coordinator’s system.
Their O line is their strength and they have three solid backs with different styles.
If the Pack wins it will not be because they run it better than the Giants. They will win if Farve gets rid of the ball before the dominant pass rush gets to him. I expect a lot of quick slants from Farve
Good analysis. And the short pass will send the Pack to the Superbowl.
I didn’t say that the Giants would win. I said that they have the better running game. I know it will be super cold. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the teams will be unable to pass. Favre threw the ball all over the field in a driving snow last week. But if the field is icy or visibility is low or there are high winds, and passing becomes a problem, the Giants are better suited to win a battle of the running games.
First of all, the Giants have an awesome running game. Secondly, no one in the history of the game has defended the run better than Michael Strahan. Even at this late stage of his career, you cannot run at him. If the Pack gets into predictable running downs, they are not going to gain much yardage. But the G-Men will use Jacobs to crack the brittle bones of the Pack. Bring it!
Baahhh. If the Giants gain 100 yards on the ground, I will eat straw on your behalf. Seattle made similar claims. Byebye Seattle.
And Byebye Giants.
However, if the Giants should win, I will support them as the underdog in the Superbowl. My only regret is that Green Bay didn’t get there through Dallas.
Giving an exam right now. It’s about as exciting as watching paint dry. So please humor me by checking out my question of the day
