:::waves to ask and andi:::
Good morning, CG!
Where’s that view?
Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. The weather was lousy that afternoon, but I got a few pictures.
slowly but slowly.
And as ask said, where was that picture taken?
After we did the caverns thing, we drove on Skyline Drive on the way to Charlottesville. It was pretty weird imagining that that had been considered the frontier at one point in time.
You got some really nice light in that shot.
Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway are both great drives.
Thanks.
I’m ready for another vacation already. Sigh.
Yeah, vacation and work is another wrongly inverse relationship, like weekends and weekdays.
When we did skyline drive it was so cloudy that we couldn’t see more than 30 or so feet. We saw nothing of the view. 🙁
Hey, think of it as a good reason to go back. 🙂
That was one of the clearer points along the drive, actually.
That’s a good way to look at it. We’ll have to head down there again some time.
Howdy everyone!!! Today will be another busy day at Obama Headquarters plus a meeting with my delegation for the convention tonight to plan strategy for Saturday. LOL I have to go bake some cookies or either brownies in a few to take to the office with me. LOL
good lord, I’m gaining weight just reading about all of the cookies you are making.
ROTFLMAO!!!! That is why I cook them and take them out of the house.
Why couldn’t I have married someone who can cook? If I could go back that would be a requirement.
and my next lover has to be someone who likes to clean but doesn’t bitch about doing it. LOL
Good luck to both of us! 🙂
True. Almost all my BF’s have been neat freaks but could not stand the fact that I can be somewhat of a slob at times.
I imagine your house filled with campaign fliers and blobs of cookie dough all over the place
ROTFLMAO!!! I am messy but with two dogs any cookies dough that misses the pan disappears quickly. LOL
I decide to make my double chocolate, chocolate chip, cream cheese Kahula brownies instead of cookies. LOL
I’m off to the library for a few hours of quiet time for work…everyone have a great day!
Have a great time at the Library!!!!
CG, I know you’ve taken off but I just had to stop in & compliment you on that wonderful, wonderful image. Just beautiful. I was very pleased, too, to see that those mountains look familiar for a reason. Just love these Appalachians!
Unfortunately, March came into our part of the range like a lion & is leaving like a slightly smaller lion. Night temps here at about 2000′ still sit happily well under freezing; we’re lucky to hit 40 by sundown; a few inches of snow are expected overnight tonight. Trout season begins here on Tuesday, too.
Ah well — change is continual.
Glad to see you’re all doing well. Hope to see you again soon!
Hi wilderness wench!!!!!
Aloha, refinish! So pleased to see you & know you’re still fighting the good fight out there. Not that I had any doubt.
I have to do something with this energy and my big mouth. LOL The only way they can shut me up is knock me off.
I can only rejoice that you’re on our side.
🙂
Alas, I’m about to take my own personal energy outside — need to chop firewood before a return of The Nasty Spits (my very own term for current weather).
See you later, dear.
A really belated hello. Sorry I missed you.
Thanks ww. Great to see you here!
It seems like spring is really slow in coming this year, doesn’t it? I feel like we should have a couple of nice days with warm sunshine by now, and it just isn’t happening. I hope we don’t launch into 80-degree weather in April with no spring in between.
rain and all.

Wow, that is a really cool picture.
How are you this morning?
Even though it’s still raining, I’ve got satellite this morning so I’m cheerier.
The house is full of wet dog smell. I’ll bet that’s not as good as wet boy smell. 😉
Hmm, they each have their own, um, distinctive qualities…
Wow, I fell back to sleep and it turns out everyone was up early!
That is very cool. Sorry, didn’t mean to sneak up behind you so early in the morning.
What are you doing up so early?
I have a road trip with young NB for a college interview, so of course I couldn’t sleep. I sense a long day ahead.
Coffee, coffee, coffee.
Where ya going?
We are going to NC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem…about 2 hours from here. Why do these things start so early in the day? Yuck.
Ooh, big excitement. Especially accompanied by the soothing sounds of Patrick Stewart.
Is it an all-day thing?
Good morning, ladies!
What’s going on today, usually Andi is the only one in before 6?
I know. It’s nice to have company but I kind of miss my quiet wake-up time. 🙂
Sorry Mom. I’ll just put my footie pajamas back on and go back to my room so you can enjoy your solitude.
Now, now, don’t be cranky just because you have to be in a car for a couple of hours and think about all the trouble HJ can get into while you’re gone.
We’ll be out driving today as well – up to the Berkshires this afternoon.
Looks like fresh snow is coming tonight; tomorrow will be cold so young asklet and I will be skiing this weekend. Maybe we can convince curly also…
Is this the Winter That Will Not End or is it just my observation from afar?
The winter was mostly mild, but the spring never seem to really get started. Have a safe (and productive) trip today!
Thanks! I got a GPS system for my car and downloaded Patrick Stewart’s voice, so I’m counting on him to get us safely there and back.
OK, I first didn’t get the Patrick Stewart ref further above.
His Shakespearian voice should be perfect to guide you there.
I second that about spring never really getting started.
Maybe it’ll happen this week?
I’m done with snow and I don’t want to even hear about it until some time in July when all that’s left is what is one mountain tops. 🙂
Hope you have a fun weekend.
I hadn’t even thought of Hopeful Jr. being home alone all day. Even with those stubby legs she can nose things off of the kitchen counter and has on at least a half dozen occasions ripped up an entire loaf of bread and scattered it around the house.
See, thinking about the mayhem will be a welcome distraction from being grumpy about the long drive.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Too much pressure to respond and be coherent? 😉
Nah, I never worry about being coherent, regardless of the time of day. It’s one of the advantages of geezerhood.
It’s more that I’m not used to remembering to keep refreshing so early in the morning and it’s hard having new stuff to think about. One of the disadvantages of geezerhood.
Being only moderately coherent at any time of day, it’s never really a concern for me either. 🙂
Except for con calls. 🙁
STUNNING! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING PHOTO!
Hugs
Shirl
This time a year I could write probably write a book — 1001 ways to take pictures of dead leaves. I can’t wait for some green things to show up.
Howdy Miss Andi, Second Nature and Ask!!! I love the picture.
Second Nature,, I hope the interview goes well in Winston-Salem and that Hopeful Jr doesn’t wreck to much while you are gone. LOL
I had my strategy meeting with the Obama delegates from my precinct to the county convention. I am being elected tomorrow as a delegate to the state convention!!!! I am kind of excited about it as I was competing with 5 other people for 1 of two slots. Several people told me afterwards that my speech was one of the best they had heard in a long time. I guess speaking in public for the last 41 years finally paid off. LOL I was up will 2 am typing out emails to the delegation with our plans for Saturday and now have to do laundry this am.
Congrats on the election. I’m sure you’ll make a great contribution to the process.
TY I now have to write up a dairy for Texas Kaos and my own blog announcing my candidacy for State Executive Committee Man for Senate District 14. I have decided to run for a position the Texas State Democratic Executive Committee to help make our party stronger and more vital in the state. I do not want the influx of new voters and activist to be wasted or squandered away.
I’m glad to hear you say that. That’s one thing that keeps getting overlooked in all the angst over the primaries — the contest is bringing new people and new energy to the process and people need to be thinking of how to keep that once the candidate has been selected.
I couldn’t agree more. I will actually be running against a friend of mine but I think I am better suited to work towards bring people in and keeping them involved than he is. I want to try and harness the energy of both the Clinton and Obama supporters and make a difference here in Texas as well as take the white house.
I haven’t any doubt you’ll do a first rate job and put all your very great heart into it.
What a sweet thing to say. Thank you
I can’t imagine there could have been anybody but you for the first choice, rf. Congratulations and have fun!
TY
Hi rf,
That is exiting news. Maybe you can diary that experience?
I plan to. So far being a delegation chair amounts to herding cats with a firm but gentle hand. LOL
My, you people are starting very early these days! Good morning to all. Good luck SN and congratulations RF! I was hoping for a slow day here at work but no such luck. Ugh.
TY!!!! I hope work isn’t too bad today for you.
