OMG!!!!!! Hi Familyman!!!!!! I have missed you!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could hang around and chat but I am on my way out the door to the Texas Democratic Convention. Please give FMom a hug from me!!!!!
Hello to all the other ponders and I will blog about the convention when I can.
The company is just fine, thanks. (Although I had to spend way too much time with the business company today. Not that they aren’t nice, but they’re not my first choice of who I want to spend time with in Switzerland.)
Our forecast is about the same. I’ve got to get the grass cut in the next couple of days and hopefully with the heat, it will kill all the grass. I’d prefer a dust bowl around the house. 🙂
It’s not like I actually have to be outside or anything other than mad dashes to and from the air conditioned car. But I despise the heat and the thought of 3 or 4 months of this is not appealing.
Plus, my bedroom is on the third floor of the house and the AC doesn’t do a very good job of cooling it off.
I’m trying to talk myself in to giving George a haircut today. I’m starting to see little turfs of hair floating in the air. That will be half a day of clipping and he’ll end up looking like an overgrown rat. But he will be more comfortable.
With a dog and two cats, sometimes I see little tumbleweeds of animal hair blowing softly along the wood floors. My house would be much cleaner without them.
Unfortunately we lost Cat a couple of months ago. I had put her outside and she never came back. I looked all around the neighborhood and town, but never found her. We still have Tom outside though. Matter of fact he showed up at 2:00 am last night wanting to be fed. He gets quiet vocal when he’s hungry.
Sorry to hear that, FM. My cats suddenly decided they hated each other last summer and one of them, that had always been an indoor cat, has been living out on our back deck ever since then. I feed her just a little bit of dry food twice a day so it doesn’t attract other critters or get nasty. She’ll glare at me through the kitchen window when she’s hungry.
Good morning!
curly says to look for the chocolate shop with beautiful silk drapes in the windows (she can’t recall the location; it was 20 years ago).
Good morning all. I wish those photos weren’t blocked, I’ll have to check back later. T-storms here, intense heat tomorrow. Feast or famine. See ya later.
I think your camera is broken…it’s just green green green every day! 🙂
The Girl is happy in Lillooet with her pagan, herb-farming hosts. She saw a bear and is wearing long-johns in the picture she sent me, and since the temp is hovering around 100 degrees here I am jealous as hell.
Another very hot day down here. I’m going to hate to see our power bills for the next couple of months. I wonder if anyone in Alaska needs a slacker visitor for awhile?
I am not a big fan of sweating. Last night I spent a couple of hours in a nice cold, dark Japanese restaurant eating sushi and drinking unsweet tea. I completely forgot about how hot it was outside, so when we stepped out the door it felt like a hot blow dryer and I was immediately drenched in sweat before reaching the car. It’s so romantic.
Yeah I hate it when as soon as you walk outside the sweat starts. We’re predicted a high of about 95 with a 60% humidity today. For awhile this winter I was actually starting to think I’m getting tired of the cold. Now however, I want the winter back. :O
We’re heading for over 100 today and tomorrow. I think I’m going to die…
I need popsicles.
And I’m cleaning and painting and rearranging furniture and bagging up stuff for Goodwill. Why do I start these projects that are supposed to clean up the place but actually make it messier? Sigh.
When the temps get into the 90’s, it’s always a good idea to stay inside with the A/C.
While FMom was in the hospital, my brothers and sister decided to come in and clean up the house. They basically came in and started throwing stuff away. Now I can see some stuff they got rid of, but they really went overboard. We had bifold doors between the den and kitchen. The decided they were old and ugly and tossed those. I had a students desk in the carport that I was redoing. That’s gone too. The thing that gets me the most was I have an old dirt devil vacuum clean. The handle slides into the top part of the vacuum and is held by a screw. The handle came off and I was going to get a larger screw to replace it. Well during their cleaning and tossing out stuff, someone tossed out the handle to my vacuum cleaner. No one will own up to it though. Aaarrrggggg!
So wouldn’t the solution be to go to the grocery where the air conditioning is going full blast and spend so much time deciding which kind of popsicle to get that you don’t have time left for the chores?
Well unplanned activity was getting knocked off the internet by the storm but I’m back.
We’re going up to see my mom today and hoping the rain will stop so we can get in a walk beforehand (we were hoping for bike ride but things aren’t going to dry off for that).
I’m looking forward to the next storm we have. Actually I’m just looking forward to more rain. I can do without the high winds and thunder/lighting. Although we’re nowhere near as bad as the Eastern part of the state, we’re still in drought mode. So any rain helps.
I’m still trying to decide which one of two things I’ll do today. Either give George a haircut or mow the lawn. Since these decisions are very weighty and earth shattering if I pick the wrong one, I’ll probably be pondering this all day and not do either. 🙂
Everything has been going well lately. I’ve just been contemplating way of becoming even more slackerly. I don’t know, but I think I’ve pushed being slackerly to the limits. 🙂
You bet its soggy here! The north end of the county got about 7″ overnight. Here’s the 4H fairgrounds just outside of town earlier this morning. Its still pouring off & on and low lying areas are being evacuated. The flooding is mostly north of us at this point. One fire station just reported they have 2″ of water in it and its continuing to rise. At least one dam has washed out.
There is a nice side to all this rain, though. The flowers are lush this year.
I hope none of that flooding gets near ya’ll. Now if I could just get a pipe line from where you’re at down to here, I would take some of that extra water.
Good morning ask! The forecast is for much the same here, but it will be a welcome change from earlier in the week with an F-2 tornado touchdown Tues. night and torrential rains Friday night. Our county is the unfortunate recipient of two federal disaster declarations in just a couple of days!
I took these last night about 3 blocks south our our house.
I hope you are dry. 46 at I-65 is a giant lake so I hope you don’t have to go anywhere that direction for a day or two (though you can get to I-65 by taking Bellesville Pike past Grandview Lake and then going south on any of the roads that connect to IN 58).
Hi Andi! We’re fine where we are. The top photo is behind the new CVS/Subway area. I’m actually standing behind the BP. I was thinking you two were probably ok up there on the ridge and apparently, the wind & precip was wildly different (and much worse) in the north of the county.
Just seeing what it was like going north along 135 was pretty scary. I heard that Lake Lemon and Trevlac were bad and it sounds like Nineveh and Princes Lakes are a huge disaster.
We went up to see my mom yesterday and then couldn’t get home because of the massive flooding through central and south central Indiana. Interstates 70 and 65 were both closed in multiple places as were just about every highway. We took the long way (east toward Cincy and the back west) but couldn’t get across Columbus Indiana (which is so badly flooded that the hospital had to be evacuated and a couple of bridges collapsed). So we ended up spending the night sleeping in Jim’s schoolroom.
Today the I-65 and US 31 had opened and though the direct roads home were all still flooded. we were able to get home using some backroads that are on higher ground
Here are a couple of pictures I took before it got really bad.
For the first time ever, she couldn’t wait for us to leave because she was so worried. We hardly stayed any time at all. Then she worried the entire time even after we told her we were staying at the school.
But there was an upside — all that worrying made her forget about my sister’s house (my sister is out of town) which was very close to some of the worst flooding. We were able to check it this morning, though, and it was fine — two blocks away the houses are completely flooded.
Yep, now that I’m home and merely tired and kinky 😉 I can really appreciate that. A lot of people have lost homes and businesses. The woman that Jim has taught with for years (and who just had to take a medical retirement) has probably lost her home or at least will have to spend a huge amount of money to fix it up — we were really relieved to hear that she has flood insurance.
Good morning, Andi and rf!
Still too hot here, forecast for 99 today and threats of 101 tomorrow.
Good luck with application rf; let us know if/how we can support it. You definitely belong at NN.
Please vote for me and also send out the link to anyone you know who might vote for me. LOL It is a popularity contest and will be decided by supporters I believe. So I have some catching up to do. LOL I have been so busy with the convention that I forgot to fill it out earlier.
and there’s a chance of heavy rain during the day. Here’s hoping that the forecast is wrong and all those people who are starting to clean up their homes don’t get driven out again.
The biggest disaster will be for the farmers. Last year they suffered with the drought, this year their fields are drowned. I really feel sorry for them.
I saw it on the news for the last couple of days about the rain cleanup and from seeing yours and ID’s pictures I’m hoping the rain passes ya’ll by.
We could definitely use some of your rain. It’s been very hot and humid, but no rain. And of course, I’m not thinking of if it rained, I would have the perfect excuse not to do the lawn. 😉
Hey you’ve been sick, you’re still recovering, your health and well-being are much more important than something as superficial as a groomed lawn (I can make a recording of this and you can broadcast it several times a day to the neighborhood).
Thanks both of ya’ll, but trust me, I’ve been sounding like a broken record on saying those things. FMom and the family are to the point of if they had to tie me in the seat of the mower so I wouldn’t fall out, they would do it. Nope I think today is the day. However, and I can say without a doubt, that weedeating is out!
Hey wait. I haven’t used there’s a big snake outside excuse. Oh joy, oh bliss! Another day of not mowing. 🙂
Thank you. I think I surprised a couple of people by voting for them also. I guess I just think the more of us who make it to Netroots the better the experience for all of us.
FM, fuck the lawn…the rels can do it while you and Mama eat fudgesicles. Do I have to come down there and kick some ass? Because I will…
Let me tell you how 5 or 6 glasses of wine on an empty stomach really help to ease the awkwardness of having your ex-husband (whom you haven’t seen in 4 years) and his girlfriend in your kitchen while your new husband, the lying, cheating, emotionally stunted creep that he is, is also present and your kids are trying desperately to find something to talk about to ease my burden or having to entertain the whole group. Well, thank god for wine and beer, that’s all I can say. And we get to do it all again today, for the graduation. omfg.
I knew something was bringing me out of my nap. 🙂
That does sound like a really bad situation. I know if my X showed up, the only thing I could think of is when the hell is she going to leave.
OK what you need to do is show grace under fire. Prove to your X and the current that nothing phases you and life couldn’t be better. What’s that old saying – The best revenge is living well. :~)
Then again, you could down a whole bottle of wine and just tear holy hell into them. However, as you said the children are working hard, so help them out.
Thanks for the good suggestions, FM. The wine helped with the grace, to be sure. It was strange having both the husbands in the same room….my failures all lined up in a neat row to taunt the living hell out of me. The girlfriend has obviously heard some very bad (untrue) things about me; she either ignored me completely or gave me the stink eye the whole evening.
Is it cooling off for you? Today will be a refreshing 99 after 3 days over 100.
Girlfriends or boyfriends are to be ignored. Well that is unless like one of the guys that used to live with my X. Once when I was visiting my daughters, he went into the bedroom and bought out a shotgun. He kept telling me how proud he was of it and how he wouldn’t mind using it. Luckily he wasn’t there to long.
As far as the heat goes, it sounds like we’ve had lower temps down here than you have. Hah! You didn’t move far South enough. 🙂
We’ve set record highs 4 straight days over 100. It’s miserable and paralyzing heat does bad things to my mood. I almost passed out in the parking lot of Costco yesterday. Ick.
OMG, I am laughing with you at the situation because I cannot tell you the number of times I have been in similar ones. I always get drunk and smile sweetly and tell the most embarrassing stories about the other people I can think of. LOL
Aw, I wanna go! It looks like a fairy tale village. How’s the company?
Morning SN.
I’ll send over the private jet and you can fly over for dinner tonight. 😉
Hi RF!
It good to see you too! I’ll give FMom that hug for you and you have a good time at the convention. I’ll look forward to your live blogging.
The company is just fine, thanks. (Although I had to spend way too much time with the business company today. Not that they aren’t nice, but they’re not my first choice of who I want to spend time with in Switzerland.)
How are you holding up in the heat and misery?
Good morning/afternoon CG.
Great pictures and I’m hoping ya’ll are having a good time. Have a beer/wine/snapps for me.
Morning, FM. Our 7-day forecast:99,100,99, 98, 97,97, 92. That 92 is gonna feel good.
How are you holding up? The good thing is with all these heat the grass will dry up.
Our forecast is about the same. I’ve got to get the grass cut in the next couple of days and hopefully with the heat, it will kill all the grass. I’d prefer a dust bowl around the house. 🙂
How’re you holding up with the heat?
It’s not like I actually have to be outside or anything other than mad dashes to and from the air conditioned car. But I despise the heat and the thought of 3 or 4 months of this is not appealing.
Plus, my bedroom is on the third floor of the house and the AC doesn’t do a very good job of cooling it off.
How’s you?
I’m the same way, I hate the summers. Just thinking of July and Aug. is not appealing to me too.
I’ve got the same problem with my bedroom. For some reason my bedroom is the warmest part of the house. I haven’t figured that one out yet.
That’s because you have a dog laying there and a cat peeing on your bed. That tends to warm things up….

I feed her just a little bit of dry food twice a day so it doesn’t attract other critters or get nasty. She’ll glare at me through the kitchen window when she’s hungry.
As you can see, she’s really put out:
Good morning!
curly says to look for the chocolate shop with beautiful silk drapes in the windows (she can’t recall the location; it was 20 years ago).
It should have chocolate drapes. And chairs made out of marshmallows.
Morning, ask. 🙂
Morning, SN!
LOL, I’m visualizing bean bags of marshmallows (too sweet and sticky for my taste, though).
I only like them toasted. 🙂
Morning Ask.
I was always more of a beer connoisseur. Although chocolate came in a good second. 🙂
George is whining to go out and I’ve got to get the trash out before the collectors get here.
Looking forward to more pictures from Europe. It still looks as I remember it, but it’s always nice to see more.
Everyone take care and have a good Friday!
Good morning all. I wish those photos weren’t blocked, I’ll have to check back later. T-storms here, intense heat tomorrow. Feast or famine. See ya later.
Nice pics CG. That second photo reminds me of Padme’s home in the second Star Wars story.
Yeah, I wonder if this is where George Lucas got the inspiration for her home from?
We had fantastic risotto last night…and the wine here is so good too.
I still have to work in a gelato before we head to Lake Orta tomorrow morning, though.
Hope you keep on having a great time. (Oh yeah, and hope the conference is okay).
Oooooh – nice photos. I’m glad to hear you’re having a good time! Any wine tasting excursions in your itinerary?
more rain here. Can’t say I’m loving it (and the farmers definitely aren’t) but the woods sure are.

Maybe I should take a picture right now because it’s completely black outside (and storming).
It sounds like Ryan is having a great adventure. I’ll join you in your jealousy — but more for the bear than the longjohns. 🙂
Another very hot day down here. I’m going to hate to see our power bills for the next couple of months. I wonder if anyone in Alaska needs a slacker visitor for awhile?
Summer arrived early last year too. I hope that doesn’t mean that this year is going to be as bad as last year.
Being the pessimist I am, I’m expecting it to be the same or worse than last year. On the bright side, I guess I’ll sweat away all that water weight.
Do you and Jim have any big plans for this weekend?
I am not a big fan of sweating. Last night I spent a couple of hours in a nice cold, dark Japanese restaurant eating sushi and drinking unsweet tea. I completely forgot about how hot it was outside, so when we stepped out the door it felt like a hot blow dryer and I was immediately drenched in sweat before reaching the car. It’s so romantic.

Why don’t you go in and “clean” their houses? Maybe they have too many remote controls, or a sofa that you think has seen better days…
So wouldn’t the solution be to go to the grocery where the air conditioning is going full blast and spend so much time deciding which kind of popsicle to get that you don’t have time left for the chores?

Everyone have a good day and try to stay cool.
There you are, you bastage! lol Sure hope all’s well with you :o)
It’s good to see you!
Everything has been going well lately. I’ve just been contemplating way of becoming even more slackerly. I don’t know, but I think I’ve pushed being slackerly to the limits. 🙂
Hope you’ve been doing well.
Hey Andi – I’m watching the weather channel and keep expecting to see the rowboats docking at your deck…
Got some water, didja?
Well, we have had to put up No Lifeguard on Duty signs.
At least you still have power…(jinx)
Thanks a bunch as we’ve already lost it 3 times this week.
Speaking of power, I guess I’ll go power myself outside and into the wet, wet woods.
See ya.
You bet its soggy here! The north end of the county got about 7″ overnight. Here’s the 4H fairgrounds just outside of town earlier this morning. Be careful out there and stay dry.
Good morning, everyone!
The heat is on; already 80 and forecast for 98 today (85 in my apartment at the moment).
don’t you have AC? I’d die. We’re heading for 102 and stifling humidity. Even the birds are silent.
100+ is nothing to chirp about!
In the bottom picture, the water is several feet high? Is it standing water or did a river overrun its banks?
That angel lounging in the top picture looks completely unfazed by the water.
Its about 3 – 4 feet deep where the utility pole is. There’s a fairly good sized creek a few hundred feet beyond the treeline.
And yes, the angel was a bit soggy, but apparently unperturbed by it all.
I hope you are dry. 46 at I-65 is a giant lake so I hope you don’t have to go anywhere that direction for a day or two (though you can get to I-65 by taking Bellesville Pike past Grandview Lake and then going south on any of the roads that connect to IN 58).

“So we ended up spending the night sleeping in Jim’s schoolroom.”
Hmmmm… kinky;-)
Yeah, given how uncomfortable it was, kinks were the least of it. 😛
I hope your mother appreciates all of the trouble you went through to see her. You could use this for years…
For the first time ever, she couldn’t wait for us to leave because she was so worried. We hardly stayed any time at all. Then she worried the entire time even after we told her we were staying at the school.
But there was an upside — all that worrying made her forget about my sister’s house (my sister is out of town) which was very close to some of the worst flooding. We were able to check it this morning, though, and it was fine — two blocks away the houses are completely flooded.
sounds like you all got pretty lucky.
Now that I think of it, I’m pretty kinky every morning when I struggle out of bed.
Yep, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment that “kink” changes meaning for us….but it inevitably does.
and that moment arrives tragically early if you are the 2nd most boring couple in the world. 😉
I’m afraid we arrived some time ago. A medicare signup looms this summer.
I think crash time looms for me — I feel a FM-sized nap coming on.
Keep dry.
Nothing like barely sleeping the night before to give you a really good night’s sleep — 7 and 1/2 hours, w00t. I feel all bright and shiny.

Morning Miss Andi!!! I wish I has slept that much but have been up since 3 am. LOL I was working on my scholarship application for Netroots Nation.
Well I enjoyed my full night’s sleep so I’m glad I’m not you. 🙂
And I’m going to take my bright and shiny self off for a walk in the woods before it gets really hot.
See ya.
Enjoy your walk
Good morning, Andi and rf!

and there’s a chance of heavy rain during the day. Here’s hoping that the forecast is wrong and all those people who are starting to clean up their homes don’t get driven out again.
I am sending wishes of a little dry weather your way for a few days.
It looks like after today things are going to be pretty dry.
Good. I know you have been having way too much rain and the dry spell for awhile will be a relief.
The biggest disaster will be for the farmers. Last year they suffered with the drought, this year their fields are drowned. I really feel sorry for them.
Morning Andi and RF.
Believe me, everyone around here would be delighted to send any and all rain your way.
How are your computer woes?
Well I’d be willing to take as much as possible even if it was only on my lawn. I’m running out of reasons not to get out there and do the lawn.
The computer is still coming and going. I’ve downloaded some programs to try and fix it, but haven’t found the right one yet.
Hey you’ve been sick, you’re still recovering, your health and well-being are much more important than something as superficial as a groomed lawn (I can make a recording of this and you can broadcast it several times a day to the neighborhood).
I’ll even do a mp3 of all the ponders saying it and you can have an endless loop for people in the neighborhood. LOL
Thanks both of ya’ll, but trust me, I’ve been sounding like a broken record on saying those things. FMom and the family are to the point of if they had to tie me in the seat of the mower so I wouldn’t fall out, they would do it. Nope I think today is the day. ROTFLMAO!!!
Hi Familyman!!!! I am so glad to see you are still finding reasons not to do things, LOL
Hiya RF.
It’s good to see you and that you’re still as hyper as ever. 🙂
I’ll get over and put my vote in for you and Manny.
Thank you!!! I think I surprised Manny when I updated the diary and added his page, but that is what blogging amigos do.
Yep you’re right, that what blogging amigos do. Plus it shows what a good person your are.
Thank you. I think I surprised a couple of people by voting for them also. I guess I just think the more of us who make it to Netroots the better the experience for all of us.
Yep I think you’re right on that.
it was a surprise – thanks again, muchly!
It was my great pleasure and we are both on the front page of candidates now. We just need to ramp it up with folks from Booman voting for us. LOL
Well I think I might head back for a nap. I have to have my strength to look sufficiently frightened to pull off this snake this today. :0
Everyone have a good day.
Have a good one Familyman!!!!
and RF, too.
I’m off to get my day going … with, I hope, very little rain to accompany it.
I hope it goes better today.
You’re welcome.
Yikes! That sounds like a script from Desperate Housewives. Yep, wine or beer would help.
It certainly helped, but I did some drunk dialing last night that will have me ‘splainin for some time. 🙂
Is it hot up there by you?
It’s almost 90 already. Too hot to even take my walk at noon. What kind of temperatures are you having?
We’ve set record highs 4 straight days over 100. It’s miserable and paralyzing heat does bad things to my mood. I almost passed out in the parking lot of Costco yesterday. Ick.
I miss snow…
Boran almost 90 is when we just start taking off sweaters.
You’re funny.
yikes!
I’m sure you handled the whole situation with grace and aplomb. That’s aplomb. Not a bomb. 🙂
Hiya Mary.
SN would be nothing but calm and nice. Yeh sure! 🙂
Well every minute you spend putting up with this will be one less minute in purgatory, right?
i don’t think it exists anymore. Its budget line item ran out last year and they axed the program.
Straight to heaven for SN!
Yay! You mean I can be as bad as I want from now on and still get in?
Hey Manny, nice to see you. 🙂
OMG, I am laughing with you at the situation because I cannot tell you the number of times I have been in similar ones. I always get drunk and smile sweetly and tell the most embarrassing stories about the other people I can think of. LOL
hi, SN
what? no drunk dials to me last night? harumph! 😛
We never exchanged phone numbers after our little fling. I thought it best….
