From Japanese Breast Cancer researchers:
HONG KONG (Reuters) – Scientists in Japan have identified an enzyme which appears to suppress breast cancer and they hope the finding will spur new therapies to control the second most common cancer in the world. […]
“Our conclusion is that we have found that CHIP protein prevents breast tumor growth and metastasis,” Yanagisawa said.
For anyone who has had a friend or relative suffer from this disease (for me it was my my sister) and for anyone who has a daughter or spouse at risk for breast cancer, this is very good news, indeed.
Thank you, will pass along.
Great news. I hold my breath every time my wife goes for her yearly exams. My wife’s family has a very scary history of breast cancer. Her mother has had it twice. The last time they removed a breast. And my wife is entering the time of her life when this becomes a very real concern. We have had a couple of scares but so far they have turned out to be nothing. News like this is very welcome when it seems daily that there is no good news to be had.
So far it’s limited to animal studies. One hopes human testing will follow shortly. Considering this is the second leading cause of death by cancer worldwide (second only to lung cancer) with over 5000,000 deaths per year one would hope the FDA would fast track research protocols in the US.
There’s a great deal breaking just in the last 90 days. Thanks to Bush, most of the research that is proving fruitful is not from the US, but Ireland, Canada, UK, Japan & India.
A little warning to all…toss all your canned goods. The BPA liners are a proven link to cancer and much more prevalent in our diets than the bottled water we were told to toss last year.
There’s also a new form of testing for breast cancer, a gammagram, that’s showing promising results.
