I was going to reply in astonishment to your earlier comment – because it was light here at just after 7:00. But now I realize you’re on Eastern time. That does suck. You should be on central time.
But I love DST. I love that it stays light for a few hours AFTER I leave work. I’m not a morning persons, light in the morning is useless to me.
Well, the party’s over…a dinner of ribs, homemade macaroni and cheese, broccoli salad, and cherry pie for dessert…
Actually, with CBtY, we reminisce about how I barely remember the labor pains, because I vomited my way through his birth instead. To this day, my midwife is never without a vial of phenergan, and she even says it’s because of CBtY’s birth.
Happy Birthday to CBtY! Our 6 yo granddaughter shares the day with him. We celebrated yesterday with all-day activities befitting the little princess. I think Mom & Dad are worn to a frazzle. We left before the roller skating party, so no reports of sore bums as yet today.
What’s lovely about an old farm is that the man-made structures have been here so long that they seem organic.
We sure had some strange weather yesterday; the landscape’s a bit frostier today. However, the seaon’s snow continues to melt, rain continues to fall & we’re under a regional flood watch. Winter begins its hilly farewell.
Here’s this morning’s hillside view. Glad you’re enjoying them!
I think Mrs. ID and I topped 10 boxes this year between our two offices and I just heard her order a couple more from our d-i-l yesterday. I fear we’ll bloat and float away if we don’t find another outlet for the things quickly. Guess I’ll pass along to all the worker bees at the office building.
And it has to be easier to mail than the last thing you got from Indiana. 🙂
I still have your snail mail but I’m really surprised that I don’t still have your email. Anyway, I’ve sent him the snail mail and if you email me, I’ll send you back his email address.
I did the lighting and sound for Gilda Radner once. She was absolutely charming, and tiny. She was such an improviser that I spent much of the performance afraid she would call me out of the control booth and onto the stage as a prop.
l never eat them myself, but always get a few boxes and give them to the local efaa program [emergency family assistance assoc.] . fsm knows, there’re a lot of people and kids out there who could use a treat.
It really is no contest at this point, unless they are outside and Luna decides to hurtle around like a nut-case, knocking them off their feet and rolling them over with each pass (her idea of “playing” with other dogs). Then they usually pick some place next to a large object and lie down until the whirling dervish wears herself out.
What happens when you take on someone loads bigger than you is a good lesson for them to learn. Bebo is still working on learning that lesson with Giddy.
I’ve intentionally been putting them in situations where mama will correct them. Like giving Luna a pig’s ear treat (her favorite) that the puppies will try and take from her – until she growls and shows some impressive teeth to back it up.
Thanks keres. I meant to vote for the keeper, not cheer on the gladiator. She may be devious, but oh so cute!
And smart – she know mom is supposed to vomit some food for her.
Ah. We’re trying hard not to get too attached to either girl should she turn out to be the one that goes.
I actually just got an email from Tammy and she isn’t going to be able to fly down and pick one in person, so I’ll be sending her photos and video to choose from.
Okay, but when you post the news and hear a shriek from 10,000 miles away – be ready with a photo of Luna. She’s still my all-time fave. I miss her when she’s not around.
That’s almost what I said (well actually completely different from what I said) because she actually unmade the bed in order to get her nest just right.
I’m of an age where I’m no longer required to be Mary Sunshine :_)
I realized that last night when I realized my mother was moving toward crabby annoying old lady. She’s becoming my grandmother and I can become her. eeek! how scary.
And another thing, I’ve just spent five minutes looking through that site and I can’t find where it says who has the fiduciary responsibility for the funds raised. It has a “Board of Advisors” but it’s not clear that’s a group that has any legal responsibility.
At the risk of once again offending some blogosphere muckety muck – I don’t see why the people who rail against lack of transparency can’t be more transparent.
Springing ahead is painful.
Yeah. And it’s dark and it’s going to stay dark for a long time and that’s a full-fledged bummer. 🙁
And on top of that, it’s thundering and lightning. I had to go rush CBtY out of the shower.
and CBtE will officially be fourteen.
Uh, that’s CBtY. Time change messed me up…
Yes! Happy Fourteenth Birthday, CBtY! Have a great day! Be sweet to your mother!
He says thanks! And he’s had a wonderful day, and he’s been a delightful birthday boy to boot. 🙂
But it’s all Mom’s fault (of course).
I just realized that even the dogs don’t want to get up this morning.
I just checked and sunrise here isn’t until 8:06 a.m. here. I hate DST.
I guess I shouldn’t complain…it’s light out now.
And that is why Indiana should be on Central time, not Eastern. ::whine pout whimper::

I’m not that crazy about how late it stays light in summer either — that nightly cool down comes very, very late.
Happy Fourteen!. Tell him you remember every birth pang. 🙂

TMI, I know. 🙂
Hah! Now I can see what you early people do here so, umm, early.
Good morning all.
Now I can see what you early people do here so, umm, early.
Gripe and make mistakes?
Sounds good to me.
Early? Us, early?
What are you doing up at this hour? 🙂
Just checking e-mail. 😉
Good morning and Happy DST! – NOT!
Nice photo – serene, but chilly, I suspect.
Happy Birthday to CBtY! Our 6 yo granddaughter shares the day with him. We celebrated yesterday with all-day activities befitting the little princess. I think Mom & Dad are worn to a frazzle. We left before the roller skating party, so no reports of sore bums as yet today.
Springing ahead may be painful, as CG says, but falling back may be worse.
Hope you’re doing well today, ID.
Happy birthday to your granddaughter, ID. March 9th is a good day!
It sounds like everyone had a fun day yesterday- you’ll have to let us know how the roller skating party went!
Good morning from ‘Moon Hill Farm’.
The old chickenhouse & antique barns.
Stone walls traveling the hillside.
It’s been raining since Saturday; now we’ve got something between rain & snow. Altogether gloomy. Expect sheets of water everywhere to freeze shortly.
Hope everyone’s enjoying a good, late winter day so far. Thanks for the lovely pic up top!
I’m glad you’re able to get out in it and take some lovely pictuers. I especially like the geometry of the barns and the “flow” of the stone wall.
What’s lovely about an old farm is that the man-made structures have been here so long that they seem organic.

That’s another really fine picture. It makes me want to walk right into it (except for the snow which I am so very done with — I hope).
Somehow I forgot that I ordered Girl Scout Cookies at work AND at home. It’s a lot of GS cookies …
I’m seeing a lol cat version of you with the caption, “I can haz gurl scout cookiez!”
Google images “girl scout cookies cat” and you get this:
Oh that’s funny – where’s family man to comment about the appropriateness of the squirrel?
O mi. Our kittehs LUV squirl scout cookyz!
We got 1 box this year. Thin mints. All the neighbor girls are too old to sell them, and there’s no office temptation here…
I hear they keep well in the freezer, though. And the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream recipe book can help you use them up too…

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Girl scout cookies. I hear they mail well. 😉
Actually, I would be glad to! Andi has my contact info.
She has mine (including my address) as well.
I wouldn’t say “no”. 😀
And it has to be easier to mail than the last thing you got from Indiana. 🙂
I still have your snail mail but I’m really surprised that I don’t still have your email. Anyway, I’ve sent him the snail mail and if you email me, I’ll send you back his email address.
Girl Scout cookies forthcoming as soon as d-i-l delivers them;-)
😀
keres can’t vote in Brown County elections. 😉
Oh… well, that’s different. Never mind.
I did the lighting and sound for Gilda Radner once. She was absolutely charming, and tiny. She was such an improviser that I spent much of the performance afraid she would call me out of the control booth and onto the stage as a prop.
How wonderful to have had that experience! She was really something special.
I have a girl here who is talking about going to Tasmania. Can I hook her up with you? My email is down below…
I just sent you an email.
I’d be happy to talk to anyone thinking of coming here.
l never eat them myself, but always get a few boxes and give them to the local efaa program [emergency family assistance assoc.] . fsm knows, there’re a lot of people and kids out there who could use a treat.
just a thought.
No contest.

Yep, they need manners.
I’ve intentionally been putting them in situations where mama will correct them. Like giving Luna a pig’s ear treat (her favorite) that the puppies will try and take from her – until she growls and shows some impressive teeth to back it up.
If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.
A hard life lesson, but a valuable one.
Indeed.
They are huge! They’re leaving you soon, aren’t they?
Which girl is staying with you?
They are huge, and in desperate need of a bath.
We’re still waiting to see which girl Tammy (the stud dog’s owner) picks. We’ll keep the other.
The Dude’s new momma is coming for a visit this morning. He’ll go home with her mid-next week.
I love Luna’s tube top. She’s all ready to go to a southern wedding now.
At YouTube I described the video thus:
Luna, dressed in her fetching off-the-shoulders “pups can’t suck” outfit, plays with her six-and-a-half week-old puppies.
Here’s a link to the video at YouTube, if you want to watch it full-screen.
Well, aren’t they the cutest things? And soooooo big! Thanks for the video.
What – we don’t get a vote?
Squeak nearly always wins, but then she fights dirty. She’s especially fond of biting flews mama’s (lips), and stealth tail attacks on her siblings.
That should read:
“mama’s flews”
Thanks keres. I meant to vote for the keeper, not cheer on the gladiator. She may be devious, but oh so cute!
And smart – she know mom is supposed to vomit some food for her.

Although Bebo is moving up the list.
And is working hard to keep moving up.

The top shot is hysterical!
She sleeps like that all the time — maybe she’s dreaming that someone is scratching her tummy.
That’s how Truman sleeps when he’s really tired. He sort of resembles a bat because he’s so black.
Well my dear auntie, we will be needing a picture of that.
That’s exactly how Hope sleeps.
I think Bebo and Hopey should meet. I bet they’d be BFFs.
Bless her heart.
That’s almost what I said (well actually completely different from what I said) because she actually unmade the bed in order to get her nest just right.
w00t! Just look at those soft new GREEN pine needles!

spring is coming …
Yesterday all the redbuds were blooming but it got cold here again last night, down to 28 degrees. So it can’t make up its mind.
It must be Spring when you become Mary Sunshine
I’m of an age where I’m no longer required to be Mary Sunshine :_)
I realized that last night when I realized my mother was moving toward crabby annoying old lady. She’s becoming my grandmother and I can become her. eeek! how scary.
the torch has been passed. :0)
It’s gloomy and rainy here, but at least it’s not snowing.
that’s the way to look at it 🙂
Wow. But having a blogroll of dkos contributors was too much? Hmm.
I find the order in which he says things will happen … interesting.
And another thing, I’ve just spent five minutes looking through that site and I can’t find where it says who has the fiduciary responsibility for the funds raised. It has a “Board of Advisors” but it’s not clear that’s a group that has any legal responsibility.

This week’s theme is Yellow or Yellow. Brighten our day.
So be there or be
squaredim.
