Okay, I think I called this one:
The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.
You gotta give it to me.
You are the head of the class already! The only problem is that now you have to stay there!!!!!
I hope that Cheney didn’t have to twist anyone’s arm in the CIA to withold the existence of this program.
And I hope that whoever told Panetta that it was Cheney’s idea to keep it hidden was telling the truth.
And I hope that Panetta is telling the truth.
We are talking about the CIA, folks.
What may be happening is that the CIA is doing damage control. Maybe it’s just Cheney’s turn to fall on the sword. Or maybe someone told Cheney to sign something.
Not saying that Cheney isn’t complicit. Just saying I doubt he was the actual author of the idea, and I doubt that Cheney is only source of evil in this mess.
