I don’t know if there is anything that Steve and Cokie Roberts have ever said or written that I would use as political advice. And, even though I kind of agree with them about Ben Nelson, I think their overall analysis is flawed. It doesn’t matter how people self-identify (liberal, moderate, conservative) so much as how people feel about issues. People don’t like health insurance companies and they don’t like pharmaceutical companies and they don’t like paying high prices for medical care and prescription drugs. Therefore, there isn’t some ‘moderate’ center-right consensus on how to reform health care. Most of the ‘moderate’ politicians are from poor districts and they raise money from corporate interests to finance their campaigns. There is nothing conservative about getting butt-raped by Cigna.

I’m just tired of seeing all those hecklers, because it reminds me of the Brooks Brothers protest during 2000 Florida election recount.
Worked then, might as well try it again. I mean what is more Conservative than sticking with something that worked well in the past? The problem is we haven’t yet devised a good plan for countering this belligerence. I mean we know they are wrong and can logic it out, but that doesn’t seem to win arguments as much anymore. We need pretty people to dance around wrapped in a flag or something else holy and recognizable while explaining why the people who disagree with us are the bed fellows of evil satanic communists. Or something.
We could ask all those hecklers to sign a contract that they will not accept any type of gov’t healthcare. Including Medicare. And promise to buy only health insurance from a private health insurer.
Steve and Cokie worked under Gloria Steinem in a propaganda operation at the Helsinki International Youth Festival. They were financed by the CIA.
This was before Steinem became a feminist. Steve and Cokie kinda admit it in their joint bio, THIS DAY FORWARD.
I grew up with Cokie’s nephew. His mom was the Mayor of Princeton. Super-nice family. I was shocked when I realized that they were related so closely to Cokie.
Isn’t this guy:

Cokie’s brother? And wasn’t Cokie’s dad killed in that plane crash along with Mark Begich’s dad?

The pilot returned N1812H to the parking ramp near the base of the
Anchorage control tower about 0840. Three passengers boarded the aircraft
shortly thereafter. A witness identified these passengers as the
Honorable Hale PI. Boggs and the Honorable Nicholas J. Begich, United
States Congressmen from the States of Louisiana and Alaska, respectively,
and Mr. Russel L. Brown, an administrative aide to Congressman Begich.
The witness stated that a small amount of passenger baggage was placed
aboard the aircraft.

I wouldn’t take political advice from anyone named Cokie.
Examine what is said, not him who speaks.

I understand the sentiment, and the desire to dislike Cokie, but come on… Attack what she has said not her name.
A little levity especially in politics is a good thing.
agreed, but ad hominem attacks reduces the level of discourse. I agree her name is tragic, but there are plenty of other reasons to dress down her comments.
