Another Birther congressman:
…Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.) questioned the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and referred to a White House “enemies list” at a meeting in Tulsa.
“This is a scary time in Washington,” he said. “It’s a very frightening time. I see Barack Obama is creating an enemies list of people who oppose this miserable healthcare plan. I think that’s frightening. That’s from a guy that can’t even show a long-form birth certificate. I think we all ought to be prepared to fight that.”
One audience member at the Tulsa Republican Club didn’t think that was enough, berating Sullivan for not doing enough to uncover Obama’s citizenship, the Tulsa World reported.
The man was shouted down by other audience members after about one minute.
That level of Stupid ought to result in a vote to remove you from Congress. There should be a certain bottom below which Congress will not allow itself to be disgraced by morons.
I could laugh at this whole thing if these people weren’t so stupid, prone to violence and probably armed to the teeth.
And just WTF is a “long form” birth certificate? I had to order a replacement BC recently and it’s got my name, my parents’ names and occupations at time of my birth, date of birth and an embossed seal.
It tells your complexion and likelihood of being a Muslim? It tells the real real truth about your name, aga, birthdate and place of birth, in contrast to the Short Form, which just lies? It’s just something you get when you buy a Miracle Sweeper? It’s printed on Legal Form Paper and therefore is more legal? It’s only available for white males?
The possibilities are endless when we’re cavorting in the realm of tedious fantasy.

What the fuck is the “long form” of a birth certificate, anyway? I was born here of a family whose colonial roots go back to well before 1700, and my birth certificate looks pretty short and unremarkable. It tells where and when I was born, the color of my eyes and skin, my gender, and the name of my parents and the attending physician. What other details are there to a birth? The length of the umbilical cord? The number of CCs of analgesic in the epidural?
Presumably the “long form” would have the name of the attending witch doctor and number of village elders who passed the pipe around in celebration of the birth.
Sounds like a long form. Maybe it also includes the names of witnesses, Illinois’ do. A short form, now popular in Illinois, shows name, date and place of birth. No parents, no race, no box for legitimate/illegitimate.
Presumably, the other info is left off to prevent identity theft. My long form (1945) shows race. My daughter’s (1969) has the box, but it’s empty. The box is probably gone now. Some states are dropping the legitimate/illegitimate check box. I wonder, is this why Obama doesn’t want the long form shown? His mother was a free spirit and if he is indeed illegitimate, is this even a stigma anymore? His right, but maybe bad politics. I never agreed with politicians revealing their tax forms either, but apparently it’s politically necessary.
Did Bush show his long form? Did it note the silver spoon clamped in his lips?

Well, we already know his race. Is the form in error? Does it show his mother as non-white? Maybe he’s worried that a mistake like that or a spelling error or something would be used as a pretext to claim it’s invalid. My daughter’s has her name spelled wrong and had to be amended. Amended, but never changed because once it is filed with the County Clerk it can never be changed. It could have been fixed at the hospital if maternity nurses didn’t treat fathers as ignorant useless appendages.
My father also had an error on his birth certificate. He was born at home with a midwife. The midwife listed the Italian diminutive form of his first name (like writing Johnny instead of John) and has the wrong day. She filed it (also shown on the certificate) several days after the birth. Maybe she exceeded the legal deadline for filing, so she fudged it. So my father’s birth certificate and baptismal certificate show different names and dates. When he went to work for Grumman, he had to explain this to the FBI. When questioned about the date, Grandma replied frostily that she certainly remembered the date she gave birth to her first-born and said something in Italian about the midwife.
What if there is an error like that on the Long form? “He wasn’t born to Ann Dunham! The certificate says Anne Durham! And the date is wrong! Forgery!” The wingers would go berserk.
I’m wrong, it’s her mother’s name that is spelled wrong. They wouldn’t let me check it. They preferred to wave a form at a woman they just pumped full of drugs after giving birth and then ask her if it was right. God! I hate hospitals.

It should be unconstitutional to use seniority for organization reasons in Congress. If that were the case then districts could elect people based on merit not on power and wealth generated by being reelected continuously through the Congress persons political career. Putting these persons on an equal footing would lift us all out the mire caused by the old farts having their earmarks and committee chairmanships that generate little good and much waste.

The Secret Service investigates threats made against the president. Ed Donovan, of Secret Service Public Affairs, said that the fax was “potentially an investigative intelligence matter.”
