Apparently, Rahm Emanuel reamed out a few progressives, telling them their organization’s advertisements targeting ‘centrist’ Democrats like Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska were ‘fucking stupid.’ I suppose that’s one opinion, but it depends on whether or not the ads make those politicians more or less inclined to support a public option. Figuring out which result is more likely is difficult and depends highly on individual personalities, the likelihood of a plausible primary challenger, and the unique makeup of those states and districts.
My guess is that poking Ben Nelson with a stick is unhelpful, and thus quite possibly ‘fucking stupid.’ But I’m not sure about that. And I know that such ads can be helpful in other states and districts targeting different politicians.
Either way, I’ve had more than enough of Rahm’s bullying. He did a great job recruiting members to take back control of the House of Representatives, but he has to live with the Blue Dogs he created. Some of those seats could have been filled with better Democrats if Rahm had only been willing to give it a try.
I see it as typical Conservative-mindset thinking–do as I say, not as I do.
It’s Ok for Rahm to bully Dems/Progressives/bloggers to get what he wants, but NOT OK for them to ‘bully’ him or his to get what they want.
Why is it Bullying for us to try to hold Them to Their campaign promises? Once upon a time it was called ‘Responsibility’…..
Fuck him and the horse he rode in on….responsible government starts with the Constituents. Turn up the heat, and get this wilting lilly out of the kitchen…
Well, the entire reason Rahm got the job was to bully Congresscritters, so you can’t blame him for getting a bit territorial, can you? I mean if other people figure out how to bully Reps effectively there’s no longer any reason for Obama to put up with Rahm’s crap.
Unless you’re a politician making money on healthcare kickbacks, then bullying the progressives who are pointing out those who are getting kickbacks is “fucking stupid”.
Rahm might as well be a Republican.
wasnt rahm one of the reasons people wanted obama instead of clinton?
oh yeah and the fear dr dean would be frozen out of the administration.
i could go on and on.

Nice summary of events via FDL/Politico …
(FDL) – Common Purpose held its weekly meeting where lobbyist Erik Smith and a comm person from the White House tell liberal interest groups what they should be saying that week. Then if anyone gets out of line, they kick their asses. Along with Unity 09 and the 8:45 am call, they exist to form a solid left flank and keep the White House immune from liberal criticism. I like to call them collectively “the veal pen.”
This week’s meeting was somewhat remarkable — as Jonathan Martin reported, Rahm Emanuel showed up …
… I’ve worked in politics for a bit, but I know that when politicians are complaining about ads being run against them–it means that the ad’s effective and the message behind the ad is working. It’s why these Senate moderates and the Blue Dogs in the House are complaining about these ads to Rahm. They want us to back off because the stronger the pressure is on them, the more likely they’ll have to support actual health care reform legislation as opposed to the health insurance bailout bill they want to pass.
Now that they’re complaining, it’s high time to increase the pressure by showing up at their Democratic town hall events and insisting that they take the Pledge to support the public option …
In conclusion, I nominate Sens. Arlen Specter and Ben Nelson as true DINOs, based on their voting records. In addition, Carper (D-DE), Landrieu (D-LA), Pryor (D-AR), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Lieberman (I-CT) and Johnson (D-SD) certainly merit the designation Senatorial Blue Dogs. Salazar of course is no longer in the Senate, and although Lieberman is now a so-called “Independent,” he is caucusing with the Democrats. Additional Senatorial Blue Dogs should probably include Dorgan (D-ND), Bayh (D-IN), Conrad (D-ND), Lincoln (D-AR), Feinstein (D-CA), and Baucus (D-MT).

I also don’t like the White House telling the Democratic Party how to behave. This is supposed to be a bottom-up operation. We’re not the fucking Republicans.
No, it’s clearly preferable to sit on one’s hands and assume that politicians have our best interests at heart.
Rahm should spend some time in an emergency room in a public hospital in a major urban area and try explaining to the patients why they’re fucking stupid.
When he’s done, maybe someone can explain to him that the best way to keep one’s powder dry is to fucking use it.
It’s always fucking interesting to watch fucking professional thugs go ballistic when they think fucking citizens doing their fucking duty are impinging on their fucking turf. Time to double up on the pressure.
Time for fucking Rahm to fucking fuck off.
oh hell yeh.
I dispute that. He pumped a lot of money into losers that he could control and kept it away from those who wouldn’t be his acolytes.
Guess he’s gonna be really busy come election time when all the lefties he’s dissing don’t show up.
i’m tired of emmanuel, his sellout brother being near healthcare. I’m getting tired of being told that wanting single payer and progress to help my fellow American must come behind the greedy ass desires of those sellout Bluedogs.
FUCK RAHM.
Oh fuck him. We don’t need his permission to run ads, to speak out against the Blue Dogs who are taking millions from the insurance companies at the expense of Americans who have no insurance, are stuck with junk insurance, who have lost their jobs and insurance, who have pre existing conditions, and who have gotten sick while insured and got their policies cancelled and who are paying 5 times for perscriptions than what other countries are paying for their medicine.
Bite me Rahm. Can’t wait til you get fired and have to go shopping for insurance. I live for that day.
You all have no idea what Obama is doing to you. You seem anti Obama, yet you seem pro Obama, what are you. I am anti Obama.
I helped to start the Tea Party Patriots in February with just a handful of us. Now, I am starting, http://www.ConstitutionalConventionPetition.com, the official website to impeach Obama via a Constitutional Convention.
The Tea Party Patriots are now at 10,000,000 members nationwide, how many labor union members are there nationwide, get the picture.
You guys are socialists at least and communists at best. so fuck you, and good bye.
Watch us we are growing fast, so where are all of you on the web fighting the Tea Party movement. You have no one.
ONCE AGAIN TO IMPEACH OUR SOCIALIST WEIRDO NAZI PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, GO TO http://WWW.CONSTITUTIONALCONVENTIONPETITION.COM,
AND LET’S GET RID OF WHAT I THINK IS AN EVIL MAN.
What are your grounds for impeachment?
