diaper changes, one complete clothing change, and nursing Mr. Wonderful, I can’t fall asleep.  So, what better way to spend the time than putting up a new cafe?

Too bad everyone else is asleep.  😉

Still asleep but not by much. Too bad I keep waking up so early, even on the weekends. 🙁

Maybe next time you can spend your waking hours figuring out how I can fewer of them. 😉

I need something to ponder in the wee hours, that’s for sure…too many of them the past few days.

What are you up to this weekend?  Today’s outing du jour is to go see the Boo parents.  And I think we need a morning Finn picture, nw that he’s so much more alert than he was a month ago.  🙂

Speaking of fun, my big accomplishment for today will be purchasing a breast pump. ugh. I Even though it will free me up to leave for a few hours, it’s not high on my list of favorite things to do.  :/

I see that it’s only 12 days until the olympics start.  Are we all liveblogging the favorite events this year?

They’ve come a long way since those old ones that looked like a bicycle horn.

We got only about 5 inches of snow but a solid 8 hours of sleet on top of that.  They’re trying to clear the roads downtown but it’s hopeless out here in suburbia with only a few plows for all of Raleigh.  And the temp isn’t supposed to get above freezing til Wednesday. Ugh.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on January 31, 2010 at 9:50 am

I hope they’re better than the one I had with the CBs…

Wo, you got way more snow than we did.  Are you fully stocked so you can avoid the mess until Wednesday?

We have edible substances in the house, but I’m craving everything we don’t have.  I have to try to take B to work in a little while, over very very hilly roads.  He called off yesterday so it doesn’t seem right to do it two days in a row.  Oy.

Snowy roads weren’t snowy for very long up north.  And they were flat.  At least I’ll have the road to myself!

I think you’ve seen what we have to contend with here. Good thing we’re a bit south of the normal snow belt. It was sometimes lots of fun cruising around in a full sized fire engine on some of these roads when slippery.

I always have that problem..whatever we don’t have in the house, and would require the longest drive to go get, is exactly the thing I’m dying to eat. Today:  mussels in a white wine broth.  Capo Giro gelato would be nice…and mexican food from veracruzana in south philly.  🙂

            Have a safe drive!

I think it’s a close up of peacock feathers, courtesy of keres.

What’s happening in your neck of the woods?  It’s gotten brutally cold here in the last 36 hours…I guess we won’t be taking the baby out for a walk tomorrow.

      • RandyH
RandyH on January 30, 2010 at 3:59 am

Should snow overnight here (Reno/Tahoe.) Not as heavy as I’d like though. Gimme a blizzard. Snow us in! (I don’t have to shovel.) Temp is just hovering at freezing point but only limited snow’s expected.

Listening to Pandora and just created a “Cat Stevens” channel. Such pleasant music, and all the stuff it suggests to accompany (Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Harry Chapin, etc) are perfect for my mood.

I’ve had a few cocktails after a day of battling with the computer over files I want to delete that it thinks are protected by the system…. frustrating dealing with an old OS installation that I didn’t properly remove. But I resolved it all.

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on January 30, 2010 at 9:13 am

Mmm, Cat Stevens and a cocktail sound like the perfect antidote to computer issues.

If you’re sure you know which files you want to kill, you can bypass all the protection by downloading a liveCD version of Linux and booting to it.  It doesn’t give a rodenheiny about windows protection issues.  Then all you have to do is reboot into windows, remove the .trash folder Linux may leave behind, and you’re good to go.

Be careful, though; when you bypass all the safety protocols, you have no safety margin.  But it works.

    Who’s Tom Udall?

Whoever he is, he deserves some thanks. He’s going to challenge the Senate rules (re: fillibuster, etc.) when they open for business next session in 2011. We can be pretty sure Harry Reid won’t ‘cuz he likes the “old traditions” so much.

I’ve been horribly lazy about canceling the CompuServe account I abandoned a long time ago that’s 9.95/month. Its probably, at least partly, due to the hell I went through to cancel an aol account several years back. If I do that, I can well afford the $36 per year at Pandora for unlimited listening.

Good morning everyone!!!  It is a chilly 30 degrees this morning in Austin- well chilly here. LOL  Ran a lot of errands yesterday by bus and walking and survived it.  I guess that means my ankle is getting much better.  I see the surgeon on Friday to have it checked out again.  Really hoping he says I can start putting more weight on it.  I know it will be sore for a while and I will still have to wear the boot. At least the boot is not as bad as the neck brace earlier this year. LOL

    • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on January 31, 2010 at 8:33 am

Glad things are going better, and I hope the surgeon has good news for you!

It’s a bitter cold 14 degrees here this morning,  with a heavy dusting of snow on the ground.  We’re trying to take it easy today, after a busy day and nice visit with the Boo parents yesterday.  Of course, I have an errand to run this morning, and plans to go over to my mom’s to finish up a sweater for CBtE.

I’m feeling a little more rested this morning.  BooMan took charge of Finn for a few hours last night so I could get a head start on sleeping.  🙂

He’s so sweet, I don’t mind getting up (too much).  🙂

Part of the deal when I took this job in December was that even after I returned to work full time, I would work part of the time from home (ie, mornings in the office, afternoons at home).  That way, I get the best of both worlds, and Finn doesn’t get exposed to the petri dish of daycare.

The acne is worse than either of the CBs ever had it, prompting a call to the doctor this morning to make sure it isn’t eczema or a sign of some kind of allergy to something I’m eating.

Oh, and while the acne persists it’s a good time to take pics of little feet and hands.  I soooo wish digital photography existed when my kids were little.  I took as many pics as I could with my old 35mm, but it was expensive to have them developed that you had to be real choosy.  And then half of them didn’t turn out.  How frustrating.

That stinks.  We actually switched doctors because we had one that was always at least an hour behind, and they wouldn’t admit it if you called ahead to ask if they were running behind. Not cool when you have toddlers…

I thought Denis had a Botticelli-like feel for line.  Sort of like he was presaging the better elements of Art Deco.  There were seven Van Gogh, a fair number of Cezannes and Gaugins, etc.  Overall, the focus was primarily on the Nabis.

And yeah, traveling exhibitions rock.  I got to see King Tut that way.

Didn’t see King Tut but we did get to see the big Monet exhibition which was wonderful. The traveling exhibition that will probably always remain my favorite that was the Hermitage exhibition of Dutch masters.

I would love to see the Dutch Masters.  I’ve seen the big Monet exhib in L.A., and most of Rodan’s sculptures when they were in NM.  They had a copy of his Bergers in the Aus National Museum’s sculpture garden.  I’ll post pics after I download them.

I like the Bonnard with the kitties in the chairs. Nice you got to experience the exhibit. We’re lucky in that our close proximity to Indiana University has brought us several opportunities to see works by renowned artists like Matisse and Picasso, as well as many of the lesser known.

Being near Philly, we saw the Cezanne and Picasso exhibits at the art museum there – wonderful.  I hear there is another Picasso exhibit coming, but I can’t imagine the audio tour in anyone but Anne D’Harnoncourt’s voice.  Kind of like Julia Child, as noted in the linked article.  🙂

How thrilling!!!  Maybe I can now start going to the museums here in Austin to see what I can see.  I think I will have more time to smell the roses and enjoy the art. LOL

You should definitely avail yourself of the local galleries.

I plan to.  Also they have first Thursday or Sunday as a free day at most of the museums that charge fees.  I love art but of course this last year was not one I could concentrate on it. LOL

Don’t know as I’d want this one on my living room wall, but it is definitely interesting and in your neighborhood beginning this month.

It will probably be next month before I start getting any of the back pay.  I have to make some calls about that today as I was a slug yesterday and got nothing done. LOL

It’s good to see that it’s not just our critters who are buzzy magnets.
