diaper changes, one complete clothing change, and nursing Mr. Wonderful, I can’t fall asleep. So, what better way to spend the time than putting up a new cafe?
Too bad everyone else is asleep. 😉
Still asleep but not by much. Too bad I keep waking up so early, even on the weekends. 🙁
Maybe next time you can spend your waking hours figuring out how I can fewer of them. 😉
I need something to ponder in the wee hours, that’s for sure…too many of them the past few days.
What are you up to this weekend? Today’s outing du jour is to go see the Boo parents. And I think we need a morning Finn picture, nw that he’s so much more alert than he was a month ago. 🙂
We seem to be more down than up this weekend. I think we’ve decided to let Finn have all the fun. 🙂
Speaking of fun, my big accomplishment for today will be purchasing a breast pump. ugh. I Even though it will free me up to leave for a few hours, it’s not high on my list of favorite things to do. :/
I see that it’s only 12 days until the olympics start. Are we all liveblogging the favorite events this year?
They’ve come a long way since those old ones that looked like a bicycle horn.
We got only about 5 inches of snow but a solid 8 hours of sleet on top of that. They’re trying to clear the roads downtown but it’s hopeless out here in suburbia with only a few plows for all of Raleigh. And the temp isn’t supposed to get above freezing til Wednesday. Ugh.
I hope they’re better than the one I had with the CBs…
Wo, you got way more snow than we did. Are you fully stocked so you can avoid the mess until Wednesday?
We have edible substances in the house, but I’m craving everything we don’t have. I have to try to take B to work in a little while, over very very hilly roads. He called off yesterday so it doesn’t seem right to do it two days in a row. Oy.
Just recall your past life driving snowy roads up north and you’ll be fine:)
Snowy roads weren’t snowy for very long up north. And they were flat. At least I’ll have the road to myself!
I think you’ve seen what we have to contend with here. Good thing we’re a bit south of the normal snow belt. It was sometimes lots of fun cruising around in a full sized fire engine on some of these roads when slippery.
I always have that problem..whatever we don’t have in the house, and would require the longest drive to go get, is exactly the thing I’m dying to eat. Today: mussels in a white wine broth. Capo Giro gelato would be nice…and mexican food from veracruzana in south philly. 🙂
Have a safe drive!
I’m still awake in the West here.
What’s the picture of?
I think it’s a close up of peacock feathers, courtesy of keres.
What’s happening in your neck of the woods? It’s gotten brutally cold here in the last 36 hours…I guess we won’t be taking the baby out for a walk tomorrow.
Should snow overnight here (Reno/Tahoe.) Not as heavy as I’d like though. Gimme a blizzard. Snow us in! (I don’t have to shovel.) Temp is just hovering at freezing point but only limited snow’s expected.
Listening to Pandora and just created a “Cat Stevens” channel. Such pleasant music, and all the stuff it suggests to accompany (Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Harry Chapin, etc) are perfect for my mood.
I’ve had a few cocktails after a day of battling with the computer over files I want to delete that it thinks are protected by the system…. frustrating dealing with an old OS installation that I didn’t properly remove. But I resolved it all.
Mmm, Cat Stevens and a cocktail sound like the perfect antidote to computer issues.
“If you want to sing out, sing out…” would be a good baby song too. 🙂
It only took about an hour for Cat Stevens to show up on the playlist I started with CSN & Y. Great minds, eh?
All of my stations turn into Jason Mraz radio after awhile no matter how much variety I think I am adding.
Heh – mine has progressed to Dylan (Bob not Thomas).
Hmmm… I wonder what would happen if I threw in some Frank Zappa and The M of I?
Thanks a lot for the Pandora link. I’m starting out with CSN & Y.
If you’re sure you know which files you want to kill, you can bypass all the protection by downloading a liveCD version of Linux and booting to it. It doesn’t give a rodenheiny about windows protection issues. Then all you have to do is reboot into windows, remove the .trash folder Linux may leave behind, and you’re good to go.
Be careful, though; when you bypass all the safety protocols, you have no safety margin. But it works.
Who’s Tom Udall?
Whoever he is, he deserves some thanks. He’s going to challenge the Senate rules (re: fillibuster, etc.) when they open for business next session in 2011. We can be pretty sure Harry Reid won’t ‘cuz he likes the “old traditions” so much.
Tom Udall is my senator. 🙂
Nice guy.
Lucky you! Something’s gotta change, that’s for sure.
Woke up way to early this morning, I have been up since 4:30am and I am not happy. LOL I know I have errands to run today but nothing is open that early. I am also wating for it to warm up before I go out in my boot. LOL
I was up at 5:30, but fell back to sleep until about a half hour again. I like weekends, when there’s no one who needs waking up for school.
I was lucky enough to sleep until 7:00! Now I’m having fun setting up Pandora playlists when I should probably be working. Its so easy and the possibilities seem endless.
Yep. I often run out of my 40 free hours per month.
Crap! I figured there was a catch somewhere.
40 hours is a good amount, if you know about it. The first month I was leaving it on for the dogs when I left the house and I used up my 40 hours in about 6 days. 🙂
I’ve been horribly lazy about canceling the CompuServe account I abandoned a long time ago that’s 9.95/month. Its probably, at least partly, due to the hell I went through to cancel an aol account several years back. If I do that, I can well afford the $36 per year at Pandora for unlimited listening.
Good morning everyone!!! It is a chilly 30 degrees this morning in Austin- well chilly here. LOL Ran a lot of errands yesterday by bus and walking and survived it. I guess that means my ankle is getting much better. I see the surgeon on Friday to have it checked out again. Really hoping he says I can start putting more weight on it. I know it will be sore for a while and I will still have to wear the boot. At least the boot is not as bad as the neck brace earlier this year. LOL
Glad things are going better, and I hope the surgeon has good news for you!
It’s a bitter cold 14 degrees here this morning, with a heavy dusting of snow on the ground. We’re trying to take it easy today, after a busy day and nice visit with the Boo parents yesterday. Of course, I have an errand to run this morning, and plans to go over to my mom’s to finish up a sweater for CBtE.
I’m feeling a little more rested this morning. BooMan took charge of Finn for a few hours last night so I could get a head start on sleeping. 🙂
Stay warm!!!! I am glad you got some good sleep.
Glad tings are getting better. Sounds like you need to stay warm too!
Thank you!!! I plan to stay in after venturing out yesterday. The high yesterday was 48 and I don’t have many winter clothes as they are seldom needed in Austin. LOL
Glad to hear you’re getting around much better. Stay warm!
In a way, I miss those days with an infant. In a way.
When I was 7-8 months pregnant and people kept asking me if I was dying for it to be over, I was like, “No way, I’m still getting a full night’s sleep every night.”
At least I know the sleep deprivation will end at some point, and this time I have some help getting a couple of hours sleep here and there.
The grandkids now fulfill that area in our lives, but at least they usually sleep through the night (once we get them to go to bed).
Great news on your progress.
… just trying to give everybody the right attitude.

I love the picture!!! Good morning Miss Andi!!! I am up before dawn to have my coffee before going to the doctor. Hoping they can help with my lower back or at least give me good drugs. LOL
Good luck at the doctor’s. I’m up getting somebody fed and changed. I’m working part-time from home this week, and have to get organized for my conference call this morning, since my boss is off.
I have a new baby pic to post this morning too. We haven’t been taking many because someone has the worst infant acne ever…
Awe the wonders of motherhood. LOL Hope the working part time from home works out. Who knows they might let you telecommute from now on. Sorry about the baby having acne….who knew puberty could hit so early. LOL
He’s so sweet, I don’t mind getting up (too much). 🙂
Part of the deal when I took this job in December was that even after I returned to work full time, I would work part of the time from home (ie, mornings in the office, afternoons at home). That way, I get the best of both worlds, and Finn doesn’t get exposed to the petri dish of daycare.
The acne is worse than either of the CBs ever had it, prompting a call to the doctor this morning to make sure it isn’t eczema or a sign of some kind of allergy to something I’m eating.
The b2 boy used to get skin blemishes sometimes. As he got older things got better.
I thought it was a hormonal thing and was transitory. My kids had it mildly for the first few weeks.
Oh, and while the acne persists it’s a good time to take pics of little feet and hands. I soooo wish digital photography existed when my kids were little. I took as many pics as I could with my old 35mm, but it was expensive to have them developed that you had to be real choosy. And then half of them didn’t turn out. How frustrating.
Good idea on the hands and feet…
Look at this deadly recipe I found this morning…Samoas
I might be able to get enough of them if I bake them myself, instead of having to hoard the whole box of 12 180-calorie cookies and eat them in a closet. 🙂
Great about the job!!! I hope the acne clears soon.
Missed one bus by 30 seconds and, was 20 minutes late for my dr appointment and now have to reschedule for Feb 19.Don’t you just love doctors who refuse to see you if you are more than 15 minutes late but will keep you waiting 30 minutes? I am not a happy camper. If the back gets too bad, I will go to the emergency room.
Ah bummer, RF. I sure hope you don’t have to do have to go to the emergency room.
Thanks. I am hoping not to have to go to ER either but the pain is murder and dealing with it till the 19th is not really an option. It has been going on for 4 weeks already.
That stinks. We actually switched doctors because we had one that was always at least an hour behind, and they wouldn’t admit it if you called ahead to ask if they were running behind. Not cool when you have toddlers…
Keep calling your doc to see if they can fit you in sooner. It works more often than you might think.
I am kind of pissed off but will do what I have to do.
Wearing his lovely new hat from his aunt and uncle:

It seems like he doesn’t know what to think of that hat. Does this make my head look fat?
When we first put it on, he fell right to sleep.
In the picture, he was getting ready to go home from an afternoon visiting the GPs, so it might be that he was wondering when he would return to the nest. 🙂
Such a cutie!!!!
I’ve thought about and thought about it and I just can’t figure out why they want me to wear bird poop on my head.
But it was 12 degrees out. Can’t be freezing the noggin.
Good morning all!!! Hope everyone has a fabulous day. I have a pretty boring one planned except for calling Social Security to get more details about my SSDI. LOL
Does anyone have the link to the auto rater designed for here. I lost the link when I switched computers and would love to have it again.
Morning Steve.
I emailed it to you at the gmail address in your sig.
I saw your comment above — I’m really sorry about the pain. I hope you get it taken care of very soon.
Thanks Miss Andi!!!!
Did you get it?
Yes I did and it works great!!! I appreciate you sending ti to me. Working on wireless is a little slower than cable and this makes it so much easier!!!
Just got your email. I should try to be more patient. 🙂
Glad to help. Even gladder that Omir did that for us.
Well, we have that in common. I am impatient also. LOL
I am glad Omir created this little jewel also. LOL
You want to see impatience, you should my three dogs as soon as least bit of light starts showing and they think I should get up off my ass and get going … which I guess I will start thinking about doing.
See ya later.
ooh, can you send it to me? I’ve never had it on this computer, and I miss it.
Can I get it as well? Thanks!
snet and if Cabin Girl emails me I will send it to her also. LOL
Thanks!
The mailman just delivered a very nice ‘super cozy blanket.’ Thanks boran!! Very cool.
You’re welcome!
Got to stand right in front of this, and this. How cool is that?
Also, Imogen and I saw an artist, Maurice Denis, in the Musee d’Orsay collection that we’d never heard of before, but really like now. We bought a poster of his Les Muses.
Way cool! 🙂
CBtY and I are up, waiting to see if school is delayed because f the snow…that’s not actually why we’re up, but since we are anyways.
Finn is of course mostly asleep. oops.
It is way cool. Traveling exhibitions are wonderful.
I’d never heard of him either. The Muses makes me think a little of Klimt.
I thought Denis had a Botticelli-like feel for line. Sort of like he was presaging the better elements of Art Deco. There were seven Van Gogh, a fair number of Cezannes and Gaugins, etc. Overall, the focus was primarily on the Nabis.
And yeah, traveling exhibitions rock. I got to see King Tut that way.
Didn’t see King Tut but we did get to see the big Monet exhibition which was wonderful. The traveling exhibition that will probably always remain my favorite that was the Hermitage exhibition of Dutch masters.
I would love to see the Dutch Masters. I’ve seen the big Monet exhib in L.A., and most of Rodan’s sculptures when they were in NM. They had a copy of his Bergers in the Aus National Museum’s sculpture garden. I’ll post pics after I download them.
I’ll look forward to seeing them.
I like the Bonnard with the kitties in the chairs. Nice you got to experience the exhibit. We’re lucky in that our close proximity to Indiana University has brought us several opportunities to see works by renowned artists like Matisse and Picasso, as well as many of the lesser known.
Being near Philly, we saw the Cezanne and Picasso exhibits at the art museum there – wonderful. I hear there is another Picasso exhibit coming, but I can’t imagine the audio tour in anyone but Anne D’Harnoncourt’s voice. Kind of like Julia Child, as noted in the linked article. 🙂
How thrilling!!! Maybe I can now start going to the museums here in Austin to see what I can see. I think I will have more time to smell the roses and enjoy the art. LOL
You should definitely avail yourself of the local galleries.
I plan to. Also they have first Thursday or Sunday as a free day at most of the museums that charge fees. I love art but of course this last year was not one I could concentrate on it. LOL
Don’t know as I’d want this one on my living room wall, but it is definitely interesting and in your neighborhood beginning this month.
I will have to check it out. It is interesting to say the least. LOL
and a reminder that this week’s Friday Foto Flogging theme is Walls, Fences, and Fields.

I guess when I get my back pay I will have to invest in a digital camera again. LOL Great picture!!!
I hope you get one soon.
That picture is a follow-up to the one I posted last week.

It will probably be next month before I start getting any of the back pay. I have to make some calls about that today as I was a slug yesterday and got nothing done. LOL
Ah, a new cafe picture!
Can’t see it! 🙁
I hope by now you’re home and have seen that you didn’t miss that much. 🙂
It’s good to see that it’s not just our critters who are buzzy magnets.
Sulfur-crested cockatoo.
Those wings backlit by the sun. Neat.
Thanks. Every so often you get lucky.
