Do you care who is in the Super Bowl? I’d prefer to see the Patriots and the Niners, although Baltimore is almost local here, and it might be cool to see Ray Lewis go out on top. The Atlanta Falcons have a nice team, but I just can’t get into teams that play indoors. I hope they lose today. The truth is, once the Giants are out of it, I don’t really care. I used to root for the Steelers as my backup, but, you know, rapist quarterback put an end to that.
How are you spending your weekend?
I hate football and sports in general. I think in 100 years (assuming we’re still around) the amount of damage caused to the brain as a result of football is going to make people of the future question “WTF were they thinking?”
As to my plans this weekend, I was going to be attending the Inaugural Ball, but it fell through; my girlfriend will still be going, though. So I’ll be staying in while she goes lol.
My wife and I are teaching a class together on Sunday. Today, I’ll be watching a college basketball game with a buddy. Professional football? No thanks.
Haircut, Seafood Festival, some work, composing a critical letter to the editor about our local hospital’s billing “service,” and…

Taxes!!

I may be in Florida but in my heart I’m still a Bostonian.
New England FTW!
Oh, and hockey starts today, so there’s that.
Tonight we will attend a NARAL event, and put together our holiday letters this weekend. I will watch the football games. I will also watch IL get pounded by whoever they are playing – the Illini really suck this year, and i was hoping that the early success might mean a decent year.
I’m dyeing! I’m dyeing!
I am a fiber artist who makes hooked wool art rugs. I am teaching three workshops in a row in Athens, Georgia in a few weeks. So I’m in prep mode until then, dyeing wool to sell, putting packets of materials together, and trying to stay organized.
So, no fun for me, just work.
Sew, to live, you must dye? Stop me when you’ve heard this before…

Here’s a link to one of my hooked rugs. I think your comments are funny; most of the comments I get are about being a hooker. 😉
My grandmother used to love to tell people that she was a “hooker”.
The rug you linked to is beautiful!
Ugh, I am doing some inside painting. It’s been at the top of the honey-do list here for way too long. But at the bottom of my personal list for even longer. Not my most favorite way to spend time.
I married into a Packer family so the only team I even know is Green bay and it is a political reason to remember that. It is the only publicly owned big sport team and not a state subsidized small business for some1%er. The Packers-even the name is about the worker class- began the process of social integration for the city of Green Bay.
All actions in life are political even in footbal fandom.
a good game is all i ask.
listening to the sports-iz-dumb whines of those who were last-picked as kids is the cherry on top.
I’m throwing a slumber party for a dozen teenaged girls. No football for us.
My boys are all sick so I will be home knitting, watching football, and running soup and toast and tea and dirty dishes up and down the stairs!
This won’t interfere with your blogging, I hope.
Busy!
Rooting for the Patriots!
Hoping the Patriots pull out a win.
I have no preference for either San Francisco or Atlanta. Neither one bothers me.
With my youngest son all day as he plays airsoft combat. Most here will be in horror of that. I don’t really approve either and it is a difficult choice, but without getting into it it is actually something that helps meet a development need for him. This evening watching my daughter play winter league lacrosse.
Tomorrow planted watching football at the sister in law. Giants are out and I see all the teams left as worthy and watchable so I will just enjoy it.
Yup. 100 years from now people will say watch wtf. I don’t get the whole feeding Chistians to the lions thing either. Or soccer. I suppose that is your point
going to a photography exhibition later today, and I have a couple hours work to finish before football tomorrow.
GO NINERS!!!
Well, as a Patriots fan, yes I do.
But aside from hoping the Patriots win, I would like to see them face the Niners, despite the fact that San Francisco is undoubtably a tougher matchup for the Patriots than the Falcons. I just look forward to a big stylistic contrast between the two teams. But then again, if you love Al Davis football, you might go for the Ravens.
I don’t normally care about football, but I do live in northern California. Plus my wife went to UNR, so I’d actually seen Colin Kaepernick play in college. Hell, I might even watch the game.
Have been a Niners fan since Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon, so that’s where my heart lies (with the Niners, not Ford or Nixon). We may have our own rapist wide receiver, but that’s still under investigation. I worry about the brain injuries in football and think that the sport will have to drastically adapt in the next five years or go out of business. I’m imagining players padded like the Pillsbury Dough Boy or the Michelin Man, something like that.
Go Niners! Did any of you know that Colin Kaepernick has a pet one hundred-pound tortoise named Sammy?
No, next topic please.
