“We will ensure that bills are debated and discussed in the public square by publishing the text online for at least three days before coming up for a vote in the House of Representatives,” it said.
In other health care news, HP has a piece on Warren Buffett:
He argued that the American Health Care Act, which passed the House this past week, amounted to “a huge tax cut for guys like me.” He also said rising health care costs, rather than high taxes, were the biggest drag on American businesses.
That last thought is interesting, as we pay about twice as much as other countries per capita on health care. That is well over a trillion dollars a year of inefficiency. Gotta be something better than that. Maybe, just maybe, that would pay for it together with the other amounts the federal government is already paying.
Not only do we pay more, our healthcare system absolutely sucks!!!
For everyone…rich, poor, young, old and anywhere in between.
It is nothing but a gigantic ripoff system among Big Insurance, Big Med, Big Food and Big Media. Media is the ultimate culprit as far as I am concerned, because it uses it trance-producing advertising abilities to foist bad food and worse drugs on the American sleeple. You can say “Well…they deserve it, those deplorables!!!” That would be a very DemRat way of looking at it.
But I must ask you…what’s in your bloodstream? What absolute poisons have you eaten and drunk today? What meds are you on ?
I can hear some of the answers now.
“Oh…I only take Advil. And maybe some antibiotics when I get sick. And last year my doctor prescribed some…”
Fill in the blanks.
If you do not at least try to eat almost 100% organically, you are part of the scam.
*NHE grew 5.8% to $3.2 trillion in 2015, or $9,990 per person, and accounted for 17.8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The rest of the world pays about half that. So ask yourself what could we do with another trillion dollars or so and still have health care. There is much talk these days that GDP is not growing. Some say it is about investment. It is also about this.
“If you do not at least try to eat almost 100% organically, you are part of the scam.”
It’s essentially impossible to do this when you’re living in a neighborhood without a grocery store and your finances make it necessary for you to eat extraordinarly cheap food that you can buy nearby.
Blaming the victims. Very Conservative Movement of you.
I heard Bill Clinton discuss this very point when healthcare was being debated. And as only he can do he made government funded healthcare sound like capitalist common sense.
Why is the US Government putting our American businesses at disadvantage when competing with the rest of the OECD countries?
Why are we forcing them to supply healthcare when their international rivals do not have this overhead?
For the same reason our “business leaders” blow massive amounts of money on executive compensation with zero ROI. They’re only interested in the competitiveness of the business insofar as it will pay them, personally, big bucks. They’re only interested in government policy if it will cost them, personally, less in taxes.

. . . er, that is, I meant to say “don’t know his ‘infer’ from his ‘imply'”. RE (booman’s linked article):
To infer Congressman Collins doesn’t understand the disastrous impact Obamacare has had on our region and our nation is absolutely shameful.
As inferences (not to be confused with “implications”) go, given that Obamacare’s actual impact on his region and our nation is, in fact, the opposite of “disastrous”, the inference that Collins doesn’t understand either Obamacare’s or AHCA’s impact is pretty much bulletproof. It’s exactly the inference any honest, informed person would infer from the available evidence.
(The current wingnut Big Lie tactic — i.e., simply declare incessantly that Obamacare is “failed”, “disastrous”, “in a death spiral”, etc., etc., etc. ad nauseum, against all relevant evidence — is breathtakingly dishonest and brazen in its own right.)
But, of course, that wasn’t the actual subject of the Buffalo News’ reporter’s question to the lying spokesperson for the dishonest/clueless Congresscritter, which was about the impact of the AHCA on Collins’ constituents.
The dishonesty, as usual with GOPers, is breathtaking.
Indeed there’s something “absolutely shameful” going on here, but it wasn’t committed by the reporter.
Another wanker R-pub was interviewed sometime this weekend on NPR (forget the day, forget the show, might have been on Saturay). The NPR interviewer (male; forget who) actually, for once, kinda-sorta lobbed some kinda-sorta hard balls at the R-wanker about the ACHA and whether he had actually, you know, REALLY READ the d*mn bill before voting on it.
Whomever it was insisted that he had “read most of it” and thought it was the bestest greatest superest thing EVAH!!!1!!
The newscaster sort of grilled the R-wanker about pre-existing conditions and pointed that he (newscaster) had some pre-existing conditions and stated that the R-wanker did as well. Of course, the R-wanker essentially told the newscaster not to worry his pretty little head over such a trifling detail. It would all be just wonderful, you betcha.
Duly noted that the NPR worthless newscaster only chooses to somewhat grill these creeps when the clusterfeck affects them personally.
Newscaster still didn’t point out that the R-wanker didn’t have to worry about his pre-existing condition because the R-Team opted themselves out this sh*t sandwich.
I know NPR is worthless. Just updating on the latest missed opportunity. But ya know: the M$M is so “unfair” to Trump.
Doesn’t count if your fingers were crossed?
Prize: A boxed DVD set of Trump’s speeches.
Penalty: Force him to watch the DVD’s.
Political pointman for Trumpcare.

Get him an early retirement party. Complete with clowns. But I repeat myself
He should get the same deal that he voted for his constituents.
Specifically, all the grandmas and grandpas that voted him into office.
No. He should get the deal of a 30 year old born with a heart murmur.

A victim, just like the McDonald’s-gorged masses.
“Oh…not my doctor!!!”
Bullshit.

Yes it is.
Maybe even more about “this”…the ongoing, ever-growing hustle from above.
From the controllers.

There are some exceptions. They’re rare.
I’ve thought about this for a while. The national Chamber of Commerce should be demanding a Federal single payer healthcare system.
This is a worthwhile discussion of the issue. Thanks to the two of you for the exchange. The conclusion rings true.
The corporation is a psychopathic model. Did you know the FBI has written about this idea? I did not know this. It’s extremely worthwhile reading.
Is there any better prize in upstate New York than going over Niagara Falls in a barrel?
Didn’t read it just like hair fuhrer.
In other news, Macron won. Yea! Block Brexit and Trumpster.

I think you mean colonoscopy, not colostomy. 😉

Bastards.
You talk about big ideas that Dems can run on and say anti-trust.
I think this is another good one. Attack the GOP on a strength.
