Midweek Cafe and Lounge, Vol. 148

Okay. This week seems to have all of us asking, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?” Amirite? While your shaking your head and wondering if Trump would award Charlie Manson the US Medal of Freedom (answer is likely yes – the two were cut from the same cloth) or why we still allow caucuses to exist, I’ll start things off with a video.

As I said in a comment to the last Froggy Bottom Lounge, “To err is human. To really f*** up requires an app.” Just sayin’.

Got the bar ready and the DJ is spinning.

  1. I used to be more of a beer person. About six years ago I started switching over to wines. Nothing gourmet. Then again, I was never much of a beer snob either. I love Guinness, but I’m cool with Yuengling as well. I learned very quickly that it’s hard to taste the difference between a cheap Merlot, for example, and a much more high priced Merlot. Apparently there is even research suggesting that very few of us can taste the difference. Good to know. Has saved me more than a few bucks.

    1. Thanks for letting us know. Family Man was a voice I had missed for a long while. He was here on the old frog pond a bit for a while, as well as a couple other smaller-scale attempts at community blogging in 2006-2007. His posts were always entertaining, and he made slackerdom seem like an art form. He will be missed. By the way, good to see you posting here – I know I wish the circumstances were better. A toast to a deceased friend.

  2. I keep these cafes/lounges going because I am convinced that personal connections are critical to our well-being. The reason I am both mourning the death of Family Man and so thrilled to see Indianadem posting for the first time in ages is because I have had a number of interactions over the course of a decade and a half that were meaningful – at least to me. We’re more than party and ideological labels. There are so many of you who used to post who have vanished lately. Maybe we’ll never meet in person, but you somehow said something that impacted me, and for which I am grateful. And if our paths were ever to cross in person, I would welcome you with open arms. And for those who seemingly vanished but still lurk, please come back. If you don’t like the music selection? Change it. Want coffee or tea based drinks? Post them. Got something amusing to share? Please do. None of us is here forever. You never know how you are impacting those around you. And if you’re not sure? Check it out. I’m always a message away. Just sayin’.

  3. Btw, just something I know about myself – I’ll eventually need a walkabout. Maybe a brief one in June and a much more extended one after the election is over. A lot of my energy, and hence a lot of my decision about walkabouts, will depend on the energy I see here.Lots of energy? Walkabouts are minimized. No energy, I’ll take my time with no guilt. We as humans have to rest and replenish, otherwise we go before our time. That’s not a fate I want. In the meantime, I’ll keep doing what I do. Some weeks will be easier than others. Just the way it is.

  4. Next Cafe and Lounge launches at midnight. I’m sure there is plenty to talk about. And if anyone wants some shelter from the storm, this is your space.
