I’m back, kinda sorta. When I last posted on July 24, I expected I might be out of commission for a couple weeks. After all, my wife and I decided it would be wise to go on a road trip to see her mom and her sister, rather than push that back until December. Being on the road, taking some time to really experience some landmarks (amazing how much easier it is to travel without kids), and spending some needed time with family and in my case some decades-long friends meant that I was barely going to have anything to do with the internet. Then I came home and found that my university was itself nowhere near ready for a fall semester, which has meant I have been working a lot more than expected. I expect to be putting out a few more fires over the next couple weeks. Long story. There may be a lesson regarding not making all of the changes at once, but I suppose that’s above my pay grade.
